I was at the dealership for today working to my 2020 sienna in for a 2023 hybrid. I am a nurse . I commute one hour and 20 minutes as a single mom to six kids. I have been a Toyota valued customer for many many years and have purchased several vehicles from Toyota has a loyal customer. Several years ago went through a divorce and accrued debt in 2021. I was told that a chapter 13 bankruptcy would be my best bet to consolidate my debt to handle my my bills unfortunately, I don’t think that’s the wise decision but I paid off almost $30,000 in debt Chapter 13 bankruptcy is given to those who do not fall under the financial means to have their debt cleared. So I paid off every dime of my debt that I owed at the time I had purchased my 2020 Toyota my goal was to keep my Toyota out of the bankruptcy, which was done by my lawyers. I continue to make my payments on time to Toyota financial Even though they classified my loan under the bankruptcy, which I do not understand because it was not part of the bankruptcy today I went in to trade my Toyota sienna in for a hybrid that sales manager Robert at Toyota in Plano was amazing Treuly one of the best I’ve ever worked with. He was kind and caring. I was very upfront with my bankruptcy. I told them that it was completed. I was waiting for the final paperwork to be done I showed them all the appropriate documentation saying I had paid off all my debt. My credit score is good. My income is over six figures so I have adequate means to provide for my children and myself. Unfortunately, the finance manager Dan, which they nicknamed Dan the man did not agree with their pursuit of me getting this vehicle, they quoted me a price on a car payment, which I agreed with without doing the full work up on my finances. Capital one agreed to finance the new sienna at 15% interest, which is absolutely ridiculous. When I was taking back to the Finances, Dan made the comment he was not happy with them. Toyota was having issues with their financial department and could not get on the phone with them. He tried. They thought they could get a loan with Toyota because of my good history of buying many Toyota vehicles. Needless to say, Dan leaves the room and comes back with another manager. He’s the top guy. I do not know his name of the used cells department. At this time, he tells me I hear you’re very upset and you know sometimes we can’t give cars to people. At that time I knew what was coming. They were going to basically tell me I couldn’t get the car even though I didn’t understand because they just told me they had approved me which did not make any sense because nobody had shown me any numbers they had just showed me an interest rate.. I know when guys act like this what they’re going to say. They were both standing up over me when I was sitting in a chair, talking condescending to me here I’m alone as a woman. I am a very educated woman. I’m working on my masters degree in nursing and I do not take kindly to people loading over me treating me like I am less than just because of my bankruptcy. I am a cancer nurse and have been for many years. I had already been at the dealership for three hours and I only had slept for two hours as I’m a night shift nurse. I had not eaten anything all day long. I told these guys they did not know what they were talking about that this Toyota was not in the bankruptcy and they kept pointing into the screen. I explained what the lady told me at Toyota today and I told them I have the bankruptcy paperwork that says otherwise because I signed it and I told my legal team I did not want my Toyota sienna in the bankruptcy because I had a choice And I made regular payments actually making more than my payment required to pay it off early . To be honest, I felt so demoralized. I started to cry, no matter what I said at that point they were not going to listen to me.
