Disappointing Post-Sale Experience – Lack of Accountability TL;DR: This dealership offers decent prices, but do not expect decent post-sale service based on our disappointing experience with Accountability TL;DR: This dealership offers decent prices, but do not expect decent post-sale service based on our disappointing experience with the Sales and Finance teams. While I don’t believe they are deliberately deceptive, their lack of transparency and accountability is concerning. Avoid add-on services, especially extended warranties. If you must purchase one, make sure you get any promises in writing. Full Review: I purchased a 2024 Prius from Lompoc Toyota in March 2024 and initially had a good experience. The sales team was professional, and the purchase process went smoothly. Unfortunately, the problems began after the sale, and I feel compelled to share them to help future buyers. 1. Missing Owner’s Manual: The salesperson forgot to include the manual with the car. Mistakes happen, but it took two weeks and multiple follow-ups to get it shipped to us. Frustrating, but manageable. 2. One Key Only: Like many other Toyota buyers recently, we only received one key. We were told this was temporary, but despite repeated follow-ups, we still haven’t received any communication about when the second key will arrive. The lack of responsiveness has been disappointing. 3. Extended Warranty Issues: The most troubling experience involved the extended warranty. During purchase, Finance Manager Jorge (now a salesperson) assured us that we could get a full refund if we canceled the extended service agreement during the 3-year/36k-mile factory warranty period. In July, our car was totaled. It took several attempts to reach Jorge to cancel the warranty. After submitting the paperwork, a month went by with no communication. When we contacted the warranty company directly, we found out the dealership had never submitted our cancellation. We had to resolve it ourselves, only to discover that we were not eligible for the full refund, contrary to what Jorge had promised. Despite trying to resolve this with Lompoc Toyota, we were met with a lack of accountability and no follow-up. While the amount of money involved wasn’t large, the lack of transparency and post-sale service left us very disappointed. I had high hopes for this dealership, but this experience has changed my view. Future buyers should seriously reconsider doing business here, as their follow-up support is non-existent. More
This was my first experience buying a car and it was a wonderful experience. The sales team at this dealership were extremely helpful, transparent, and kind. Gibran answered all of my questions, made sure wonderful experience. The sales team at this dealership were extremely helpful, transparent, and kind. Gibran answered all of my questions, made sure I understood all of the car's features, reviewed the CarFax extensively, and worked with Danny to find my best financing options. Joanna clearly explained all the paperwork and had patience for all of my questions. 10/10 would recommend! More

The work, the cost and the timing were exactly as promised. No surprises.. and they made my 25 year old Solara look like new. At least newish. Thanks to Toyota of Lompoc Service department. More
After overkill levels of due diligence and negotiating offers elsewhere, I spent an hour with sales manager Leonard on decision day. In today's weird market conditions, I suspected my needs and direct app offers elsewhere, I spent an hour with sales manager Leonard on decision day. In today's weird market conditions, I suspected my needs and direct approach would give any salesperson a good laugh and I'd go on my way after a nice chat. Negotiating with him was a pleasure! I've worked a commissioned sales job, and he seems like the kind of boss you would learn a lot from. I absolutely take him at his word that he finds joy in the local customers he serves and the work he does. If Toyota had a team of candid camera secret shoppers, I bet Leonard would have an amazing highlight reel. I felt mutual respect at every turn, particularly when the stakes rose to a point where a lesser salesman would've pressed too hard. If you've done your duty as a customer to show up prepared, I hope this normally-dreaded shopping experience will make you as happy as it made me. More
Worst service experience in my 36 years as a driver. What they said would take 2 days ended up taking 7 weeks. They tried to double charge my wife, then claimed it was an "honest mistake" when she caught it they said would take 2 days ended up taking 7 weeks. They tried to double charge my wife, then claimed it was an "honest mistake" when she caught it. Five minutes away from the place, the engine light came on and there was an obvious problem with the engine. Took it to another place where they confirmed, with one look, that another huge repair was needed. It was under warranty, so I assume Toyota of Lompoc just didn't want to do warranty work. This place has a culture of dishonesty and poor quality. Go anywhere else! More

I have my vehicles serviced with Abel Ortega, he is always straight forward, honest and willing to help with anything. Dave Ernberg in parts is the man, he always gets me the best prices. He got me a TRD supercharger before anyone else! I most recently purchased a vehicle with David O'Dwyer Jr. I was pretty shocked throughout the process that, unlike most dealerships, there were no hidden agendas or illusions or any feelings other than him working WITH me not FOR me. Everything financial was presented up front, with no hidden fees. He wanted to make sure I was happy with the deal and never was pushy about anything. Even after the sale, David and GM Daniel went out of their way multiple times to make sure I was satisfied. I will definitely consider TOL for my next purchase. More
I was interested in truck, as they were actively marketing it I was told to wait to come see it as they needed to smog it. I was patiently waiting to see the vehicle and was ready to purchase. The marketing it I was told to wait to come see it as they needed to smog it. I was patiently waiting to see the vehicle and was ready to purchase. The day they stated it was ready I was told they would bring it to me for a test drive, later I received a text, 'sorry unfortunately the truck is sold'. Do not do business with these people. More
Don't go here! $18K car died in about 30 miles or driving. I purchased a used vehicle from Toyota of Lompoc for $18,146.76. I drove the vehicle for a few days, about 2 trips to and from work, for a total of about 30 miles before the car died. A messaged popped up on the screen that said EV system failure, turn off your engine. When I turned the engine off and back on the check engine light was on. After finding out the local Hyundai dealership didn't have any service availability, I called Toyota of Lompoc to ask what to do. I brought it in and they read the error code and cleared it. At this point they told me this was all they could do, that they couldn't really diagnose or work on hybrid vehicles from other manufacturers. They DID NOT bother to tell me that by clearing the error code they were essentially preventing Hyundai from being able to diagnose it. I had the vehicle towed over 50 miles away to the nearest Hyundai dealership that had availability. It was there that I found out they couldn't read error codes that Toyota of Lompoc had cleared. I picked it back up after they had failed to diagnose it (in large part due to Toyota of Lompoc clearing the error code) and drove it home. It made it that 55 mile trip. The very next day when I was driving home from work, I received the exact same error message and check engine light. This time I was able to get the car in to the local Hyundai dealership after just a couple of days. Their response was that the water/coolant pump for the EV system was no good. The pump at maximum wasn't running up to spec and worse sometimes when they tried turn it on it would completely fail to turn on. The total cost for this fix? Over $1,800 dollars. When I told Toyota of Lompoc about this, their response was...and I am not joking here..."Well we can save you some money if you can bring it into us". They quoted me a cost of $1,400 and offered to pay half, effectively billing me $700. Toyota of Lompoc sold me a broken car and claimed they couldn't even diagnose it much less fix it. They wasted 3 weeks of my life having the car towed all over central California only to then turn around and tell me they actually can work on it. If they are willing to lie or at the very least warp the truth about their ability to work on a vehicle they sold me, why would they not also be willing to bend the truth on the condition of the vehicle when it is sold? What is more likely, that a major component failed with 30 miles of purchase and had never had an error before...or that the component was intermittently failing prior to the sale of the vehicle and the dealership simply cleared the code prior to selling the car (the exact same thing they did when it broke down)? Third Car Purchase in 12 years; never a problem! Most people will only write a review when they've had a negative experience. As the title says: three cars, three years, never a problem. UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE Sales staff is very nice and forthcoming. The finance person/sales manager is unprofessional and rude. Our first meeting did not end well as we were f Sales staff is very nice and forthcoming. The finance person/sales manager is unprofessional and rude. Our first meeting did not end well as we were fed misinformation and could not agree on a price. He was rude then, but not a big deal. 2 months later we were called by the nice young salesman and was told the car is now being offered at $500 below our requested purchase price. When we went back down to negotiate the same "boss" was there and he was BEYOND unprofessional and extremely rude. We were told - after he eyerolled and was snarky AND BEFORE WE EVEN SPOKE ABOUT PRICING - that the bottom line price for that car was $17,000 plus fees. He said this in a very aggressive manner, hollering from his office! We were told on the phone the price was $16500 AND THE STICKER ON THE CAR SAID $16500! When I told him that, he began a tirade about "WHO PUT THAT ON THE CAR?!!!" Not an "I'm sorry" or "oh, I was wrong". At that point it did not matter as we were already beyond offended and decided we will NEVER buy a car from Lompoc Toyota. Which is a shame since we are all about supporting our local community. More
