This was probably the best experience we have had buying a car. Craig is a great salesman, absolutely no pressure!!! He lets us look the car over for as long as we wanted, then took us for a test drive, all a car. Craig is a great salesman, absolutely no pressure!!! He understood that this was a purchase for our son who is in college and went the extra mile to help us out with the right warranty for our situation. The people were great and the product is very good! I had 2 previously ok lease experiences at Toyota of Gastonia but this last time was awful. I am a loyal toyota owner. I have leased or bought over 10 Toyota’s in the Charlotte area in the past 15 years Gastonia but this last time was awful. I am a loyal toyota owner. I have leased or bought over 10 Toyota’s in the Charlotte area in the past 15 years. The dealer and I agreed in writing on a deal for trading in my car (2018 Highlander xle) and leasing another Highlander . They sent me a picture and vin of the car we agreed on. They double checked to make sure the car was available because they said they are selling fast. They replied in a text...congratulations the car is available it is yours. They asked me for a $500 deposit to hold the car and in good faith that I won’t walk away from the deal. I was told If I backed away a from the deal I would lose my $500. But when the papers are signed I will get the deposit back. I sent the deposit along with sending them a copy of my license. The said the car was in transit or getting shipped from another dealer and we would know the exact date of when we will have car that next week. Three days passed. Still no up date. I prepared my car for trade in. Cleaned it out, removed car seats, washed and waxed etc. Called insurance company in preparation of selling the car. On the sixth day they called me saying the new car wasn’t available anymore. I was surprised and upset about what they just told me. How can you ask for my deposit to hold the deal but then think it is ok for the dealer to back out of the deal. The manager said he can’t just magically produce a car. I said I understand that but we had a deal and why did you all ask for my deposit and say the car is mine? Doesn’t toyota have a process so things like this won’t happen? How are you going to make this right. He said if I can take one on the lot we could make it work. I informed them I would take another vehicle or one they have on their lot if they can’t find one with the equipment I wanted. They said they would look into that and let me know. There were two vehicles on their lot that I said I would take or compromise with. They never got back to me. I texted and called several times. Days later they said if I got one of the cars on the lot the deal terms would change and the price would go up. Even though the cost of the car on the lot was almost 1500 less than the one we initially agreed on. After almost 2 weeks I ultimately asked for my deposit back. This dealership lies and hides the truth. They reneged on a written deal, terms and the deposit. They caused unnecessary stress and grief to myself and our family. Their management is not professional and didn’t do the right thing to correct their mistake even though they had other cars on the lot. Their customer service does not exist. Marcus and Corey are the two managers that were working on this deal and reneged on the deal. Be cautious when dealing with this dealership. Time for me to find another car. More
