I just bought my first Prius from Stuart and he was great. My son bought a new Prius last year and we loved how he treated us and was upfront about the process. 1 - Stuart assured me, more than once, that the Toyota recall problem had been taken care of. I find out at Toyota Culver City that this was not true and they fixed it. This kind of lie to make a sale could cost lives. 2 - I did not test before buying but once I left the lot the touch screen did not work which makes me think that the Toyota Santa Monica Certified Inspection is a waste of time and what other problems does my car have, after all, how could something so basic be missed? 3 - As part of his sales pitch, Stuart was supposed to take care of the transfer of title of my trade in; he did not and I got bills and calls from the DMV and had to take care of it myself. In short, Stuart promised much on the lot. As soon as my check cleared and I drove off the lot Stuart disappeared and broke promises. I will never buy a car from Toyota Santa Monica ever again. More

Had a bad experience at the time of purchase that a -- much later -- new general manager addressed. (After I had purchased the car, the sales person handed over *one* key. I asked for the second one and there was none; the new general manager agreed to reimburse me for a second key that I had cheaply done elsewhere.) The sales person made a number of claims, some of which later turned out to have been wrong (Toyota-guaranteed battery life on the Prius, for example). This sales person seems to no longer be with Toyota Scion Santa Monica. This may be obvious: a dealer warranty means that the dealership will pay if the car falls apart within 2 months or 2000 miles of purchase. It doesn't mean anything else. In particular, it doesn't mean that the regular Toyota-recommended maintenance has been done. At the first service, supposedly a minor one, I ended up with an extra $600 of regular maintenance that should have been done at a mileage just below the mileage at which I bought the car. The dealership then gave me an approx. 15% discount on these maintenance items that should have been done before I bought the car. More

Mark was a fabulous salesperson in all ways- he was low-key, courteous, patient and helpful. The entire experience was good and never anxiety-ridden as it can be when making such big decisions. This is the first time I purchased on line, and Diana was godsend. I worked out a price and availability by email before going to the dealership. You made sure I drove the vehicle (an FJ Cruiser) early in the process to make sure I was comfortable with my choice. There was absolutely no haggling over price once it was set on line. I appreciated that she informed me of all of the options, including ones not on the internet. In the end, I was able to collect my vehicle after about an hour at the dealership. It was a terrific experience at Santa Monica Toyota, primarily because of Diana. I guess the best part for me was the low pressure nature of the process. I will use online exclusively for any future vehicle purchases. More

Our salesperson was personable, competent, knowledgeable and helpful but not pushy. I felt very comfortable with Diana and we both felt that she was fair. The only thing I wasn't wild about for the trade-in offer but that happened in a different department. I didn't like what they offered so I sold the car on Craig's list and got an extra $2,000. More

I cannot say enough of what a horrible experience we had to go through this weekend!!! All I have to say: NEVER EVER GO to Toyota Santa Monica and especially their Used Cars department on Santa Monica Bl to go through this weekend!!! Sales person Josh is probably the rudest and most unpleasant person to work with and his manager Mike is sneaky and you have to be very careful before you decide to close the deal. They had forced us to buy 2 years of Powertrain warranty for $1,500!!! using an excuse that the bank will not finance the car without it. The only reason we closed a deal is because they had the exact car we were looking for and didn’t have much time to look around.
