2 years ago I received a promotional mailer from Toyota of Bedford. I went into the dealership and informed them of my interest and stated: "I am returning to school to pursue a Bachelors degree and need r of Bedford. I went into the dealership and informed them of my interest and stated: "I am returning to school to pursue a Bachelors degree and need reliable transportation, based on my income the EXACT amount I can afford for a car payment is 350.00 or LESS per month, do you have anything reliable for this payment?" The salesman stated yes, but it would require a credit check. We then looked at several cars, I decided I was interested in a hybrid and was then sent to the Finance office to speak with a man named 'Xavier'. He ran my credit check and stated that my payments would be 277.00 per month. This was acceptable. They then informed me after a 20 min wait that they had no models of that car in stock, but would have one in 2 months. They then stated they could put me in a Buick for that 2 month period and then transfer the terms. It was clearly stated after I carefully reviewed the contract that the total selling price would increase, but my payment amount would be the same. So I signed and agreed. 2 MONTHS LATER: when the car arrived I returned from the dealership. 'Xavier' met me at the front door and shook my hand, he then stated he was please to tell me the new car was in and he simply needed to run my credit check again... I said OK. He returned and had a contract and stated 'good news' your APR went down almost a full point so I saved you some cash, just sign the bottom here. He then set the contract, with the top half set down to the signature line and the keys on the slim counter and handed me the pen He said the only change is the final payment amount as we discussed and of course the name of the car model! So I signed and left. 1 month later I got my first bill, it was not 277 as AGREED TO, it was 650!!! I drove straight to the manager’s office and confronted them in person, to my horror they had tricked me into signing a contract which had 650 per MONTH payments!!! I stated this must be a typographical error, please let me speak to 'Xavier', he will clear this up. The manager stated he no longer worked there and the signature was valid. He offered to re-posses the vehicle and auctions it where I would be responsible for the excess payment and then if I pass a credit check put me in another car. For the next 2 years I tried to re-negotiate based on the ORIGINAL contract I signed but Toyota financial and Toyota of Bedford REFUSE to help. I cannot even get a bank to re-finance me because they state " As a financial institution we cannot approve a re-finance for this car because it exceeds your debt to income ratio, we don’t even know how you could get approved for this with a 650$ payment!?! Sorry" Same story with Chase, National City, PNC, and even the local banks... I cannot afford to allow a 'repo', no bank will re-finance me, I have been financially damaged GREATLY by being forced to pay 650 rather than 277 per month, and Toyota will not look at the original contract or allow me to re-finance. I will NOT buy my next car for them. Awful, lousy team!!! I had so many concerns with my roughly 2 yr/o RAV4 – under warranty – of course they cannot find the problems I was complaining for months. Then I had so many concerns with my roughly 2 yr/o RAV4 – under warranty – of course they cannot find the problems I was complaining for months. Then after locating the problems they forgot to call me for service. Avoid them!!! Low grade folks. Such business kills our economy. More
Our 2004 Toyota Corolla was brought in for service on 11/26/08 after a OBD II code found by my local mechanic in 11/24/08. At that time my local mechanic replaced the serpentine belt and performed a power steering flush and fill. A TSB had been issued for the OBD II code by my local mechanic so he suggested visiting the dealer. Once there I was told an O2 sensor (the third at less than 65,000 miles)) was bad and needed to be replaced. However, since it had been cross threaded at the factory the entire exhaust manifold needed to be replaced at a cost of $827. The service manager, Daniel Spacagna also informed me that my power steering fluid looked original and needed to be flushed and filled. This, I know was an outright falsehood. Whether it was a plain lie, or just a guess based on routine maintenance schedules and no one even looked at the fluid, I don't know. Either way, the credibility of the service department went to zero in my book. I was involved with the automotive aftermarket for nearly five years having written for Counterman Magazine, Brake and Front End, Professional NASCAR Garage, Underhood Service and others. I even helped write one of the ASE parts specialist tests back in the 1990s. I know O2 sensors should not go out that fast. I also know replacing an entire exhaust manifold because of a cross threaded O2 sensor sounds pretty suspect as well. I plan to contact Toyota, and push the issue. More
I bought my Toyota Camry in December 2007. The car is great. The service once I bought the car was awful. I called and complained to the manager. He had the assistant manager call me back. I was informed great. The service once I bought the car was awful. I called and complained to the manager. He had the assistant manager call me back. I was informed that they would get back to me.The sales person I had a problem with is the one who returned my call. I only got one key for the car. I was told that the service department could make me ONE key for $250.00. That was their cost. I contacted another dealer who could make me TWO keys for $133.00.I decided to give up with this dealership. In July 2008 I took a long trip in my Camry. I ended up having 2-3 inches of water in my front and back floors. I thought maybe I had a leak. It was discovered that my air-conditioner was draining back in my car. I immediately called the service department. They informed me that i could just bring my car in and they could unclog the drain. Iwas able to leave work and take my car to them. I once again called and they said no problem. I explained once again the situation. I drove 25 miles to the dealer. Once there the service department informed me that my car was out of warranty and that it would cost $90.00 an hour for them to look at it. The gentleman informed me that Dan who talked to me did not have enough information on my car to inform me of that.Needless to say I left with my car. It seems like this dealership in all departments can care less once you have made youe purchase.. I will not recommend to anyone.. Don Joseph of Kent informed me that it would cost approximately $45.00 for this. They even let me know that if it is easy to fix they would not charge me at all. I cannot believe that once again another dealership is much cheaper... By the way the recorded messages from Toyota that come for special occasions can stop. I received a call for 6 month anniversary of buying car, and a happy birthday message. What good are these if you cannot satisfy a customer. More
I went in to purchase a 2008 Yaris. I was allowed to test-drive the Yaris and was very impressed with it! However when it was time for the "SALE" I was told my credit score was NOT UP TO PAR. Not by the test-drive the Yaris and was very impressed with it! However when it was time for the "SALE" I was told my credit score was NOT UP TO PAR. Not by the dealer, but by the finance officer there. Little did he know that I already came there with my credit score which I told him so he changed his story to "this credit reporting agency isn't good enough". OK well I went to another dealership. On 3/24 or 3/25 I stated, in an email, that I had chosen to go with another dealership because I could not afford the insurance on the Yaris for 2008 models. All further correspondence between the dealership and I stopped on good terms. HOWEVER.... On April 14, 2008 I received a letter from Wells Fargo stating that I was approved for an auto loan for the 2008 Yaris with Toyota of Bedford! [what???] Now I have to go through the trouble to see if Toyota of Bedford is not running a scam on me! I have to call Wells Fargo and also the Sales/Lease Rep at Toyota (of Bedford) to make sure that they fully understand that I am no longer in the market for purchasing a car from their dealership.
