Disappointing service Arrived for scheduled oil change, asked for windshield wipers to be changed and a general check for any other issues. Some issues were identified and described as somewhat dire, including oil, transmission and steering leakages. The vehicle in question is consistently parked in an indoor assigned spot, not driven frequently and NO leakage spots were apparent on the pavement prior to this service. Took the advice under consideration, paid and left the dealership. Drove about 1 mile to shop, parked upon relatively 'clean' wet pavement to see what leaks may appear. On returning to the vehicle about 1/2 hour later, some kind of major leakage was apparent, judging from the petroleum sheen evident upon the pavement. Moved the vehicle to a different 'clean' spot, waited about 15 min. Additional sheen, although not as much. Returned to dealership and asked to speak with Service Manager Joe Smith to review what kind of issue this was. Joe was helpful and professional, and included senior mechanic Rick so that the three of us could go over the vehicle. After a decent review of the vehicle and situation, during which it was pointed out several times that the vehicle was an older model, the following was determined: - no power steering leak that we could find - almost no noticeable transmission leak - more like a sweat with no drips - it was decided that the oil leaks/drips had occurred from spilling old oil down the front of the engine during the oil change. New oil leaks/drips that were apparent were most likely from spilling new oil on the side of the engine during refilling the engine oil Joe mentioned that this level of service was not satisfactory to meet their standard and that the tech would receive a talking to. During the inspection, I had pointed out that the engine had been very clean on arrival, and that there are no leak spots in the assigned parking spot. That information/those comments were kind of dismissed. No real apology was given, or offer of cleaning the oil spills, but rather it was suggested that the oil leaks/drips would simply burn off over time. Since the condo parking rule is that leaking cars will not be tolerated, I will have to wash the engine in order to ensure that we are compliant with that rule. The windshield wipers were NOT replaced, but I was not charged for that service. Up until this experience I had rated this dealership very highly. I have not used their services for the past 2 years, since retiring this vehicle to infrequent use, and really cannot see why I would return in the future. More
