I brought my 2019 RAV4 Adventure into Toyota of Bellingham because I was experiencing serious computer issues. Blinkers and all lights don't work. Windshield wipers don't work. Speedometer and RPM Bellingham because I was experiencing serious computer issues. Blinkers and all lights don't work. Windshield wipers don't work. Speedometer and RPM doesn't work. The drive train (while driving) was making loud clunking and grinding noises and jolting the whole vehicle. The dealership found a broken plastic connector on the interior of the factory roof rail and thought that was causing water to leak through the front retainer clip (on the drivers side). They mentioned that this broken piece of plastic could’ve possibly been a result of my installing a rack and tent on the factory roof rails, that it was over the recommended weight load. It was stated that the dynamic roof weight load is 175lbs. My rack and tent (combine) weight is 170lbs, which falls under the weight load. The static roof weight load should be at least 500lbs+ (when the vehicle is not moving). Note, the Frontrunner rack connects to the metal bars within the factory roof rail and connects to the metal bracket bolted to the hood. The piece of plastic that was broken, has no structural bearing, and is only meant to superficially hold the front retainer clip in place. Regardless of the piece of plastic being broken, the front retainer clip has been updated by the manufacturer for a thicker retainer clip gasket. Part numbers: 90467-08235 (clip), 63451-0R010 (rail retainer), 90467-10167 (pillar trim clip). These new versions of retainers/clips have much improved gaskets. Which would lead one to believe that water leakage was caused by the original manufactured retainer clip gasket and needed an updated part to remedy leak issues. They then removed more interior paneling exposing the floor electrical function box. There was significant corrosion and deterioration within the entire function box. There was also more water (or condensation) under the terrain mode console. The level of corrosion damage would suggest that the timeline needed to create the level of damage is longer than 3 - 3.5 months (the time I’ve had my rack and tent installed). I installed my Frontrunner rack and iKamper tent the first weekend of September ‘22 and the issues first arose in early December ‘22. The extent of the total damage is still unknown. The dealership is claiming since a piece of plastic broke on the rack rails superficial housing, and thus didn't hold the retainer clip down, it's not covered under warranty and there's nothing they'll do to remedy all of the damage unless I cover the cost or go through my insurance. Based this information provided here, I find it completely reasonable that I had nothing to do with water leaking and causing these issues. The originally manufactured retainer clip gasket was insufficient at keeping water from leaking, and thus a manufacturer design flaw and defect. The week or so that my vehicle has been at the dealership, they have done nothing but deflect responsibility of this issue. I felt I wasn’t being heard or listened to, and was going to be stuck with a large (and still unknown) amount of repair costs. I left some negative reviews of this whole scenario, which prompted the service department to tell me they didn’t want to help or do business with me and to come get my vehicle off their lot or it would be towed. Yesterday (1/9) I met with Rob Hall, who for the first time in this whole process, actually took the time to listen and go through all of this information and facts. I give him big xxxxxxfor his time and willingness to help. It was the first time I felt someone at this dealership was on my side and going to try and help push this issue up the ladder. So, this is a mixed review due to its complexities. I give certain individuals in the service department a negative review, but I give Rob a highly positive review. I genuinely hope this helps others out there, and possibly can help this dealership with policies and procedures in the future. More

This was the first company to respond to my online inquiries with a HUMAN (Megan Davis). Bonus, she responded around 1130pm when I submitted an inquiry online about the availability of the car, and at 0815am as a follow up-IMPRESSIVE! She connected me with Jacob, in Internet Sales, as we scheduled a time to come in and see the car I wanted. I was greeted by staff multiple times shortly after arriving. One of the managers, Richard, came over to explain financial policies, as I had a loan approved already. He even made an exception to their policy by working with my bank, a bank they had a negative experience with before, on the auto loan vs going through them because of the better interest rate was better for me, the customer. (Imagine that!) Jacob and Carter looked out for my financial interests advocating on my behalf, Dino answered my financial questions. The overall service was excellent. Car was cleaned the day of prior to my appointment, and then gassed and cleaned again while it was outside during the sale. The entire staff deserves recognition on a job well done. More
Very fast service, looks like everything was done right and I like the report on everything at the end with measures so I can plan future service.
