My girlfriend and I bought a used car from Brian Moore a couple weeks ago. The whole process was painless, not like any other dealer we had been to. We went to Toyota Marin after learning that they had a 2003 Toyota Tacoma for sale. During our time there, we mostly worked with Brooke Peros, one of the Direct Sales Managers. Brooke was warm and helpful throughout the process, and provided us with a good car buying experience. She even went out of her way to make sure that we could drive the truck off the lot, despite some technical issues that almost prevented me from getting it on the road. Overall, the experience was "Good." I wish it could've been outstanding, but I'm not sure purchasing a used car can ever really feel as great as purchasing a new vehicle. Also, the dealership had some hesitancy around making some necessary repairs--repairs that any reasonable dealership would make without having to haggle. Sometimes I think it's less about the bottom line and more about the egos, i.e., who's going to get the last word in this sale? All in all, Brooke was great. Toyota Marin, decent. The truck, solid. This was my first time seriously shopping at dealerships for a vehicle. I've always gone the CL used vehicle route. But, I was interested in a clean, newish, used Tacoma which caused me to go the financin for a vehicle. I've always gone the CL used vehicle route. But, I was interested in a clean, newish, used Tacoma which caused me to go the financing route. That combination of factors led to me shopping at a variety of used vehicle dealers. I had been looking for several months pretty regularly by the time I made it to Toyota Marin. By that time I had firm grasp on exactly the vehicle specs I was looking for, and I think a pretty good perspective on pricing. I'd been through a few cases of shady "too good to be true" deals at other dealerships. It's like, come on guys do you really think the average car buyer is not familiar with carfax!? Can't tell an after-market paint job from the factory paint job!? The initial sales experience at Toyota Marin was perhaps a bit less tacky than what I'd experienced elsewhere. The initial salesman still did not comprehensively answer all of my concerns during the shopping process - I had to go to another Toyota Dealership to eventually get all of the Toyota Service Records on file. But it's also worth noting that he actually put it up on the rack for me to look at, and, they were completely ok with me taking the car and having it checked out elsewhere. They have a 3 day full refund policy. There was no real price negotiation but it was priced within a reasonable market range - blue book values don't really mean a whole lot when you're dealing with Tacomas. After the sale, I was kind of put off by the salesman's difficulty over getting me a ride to the dealership the next day to pick it up ( I had to drive my motorcycle home the day I purchased the truck). And then he mysteriously wasn't going to be available for the official handing over of the car the next day. Perhaps he truly had a "personal emergency", so, I'll withold any potentially paranoid judgement about that. Anyway, here's where the story gets decidedly more positive. First, the finance mgr worked with me to get through some issues with a pre-qualified loan deal. He seemed straight-forward and honest. Secondly, the sales manager, Leslie Ainsworth who I met the day I was shopping for the vehicle and provided me the final quote, in my experience, is a decent guy with a respectable sense of accountability and customer service. Basically, when the original salesman bailed or had to bail the day I was supposed to pick the vehicle up, Ainsworth answered my call on his personal cell arranged for me to be picked up and driven to the dealership (I live in Richmond) and made sure he'd be there to go through the process with me. Then about a week after the purchase I got a consensus on a concern I'd had when I first looked at the vehicle that there was something wrong a paint match when they did some repair work on one of the doors. I called Ainsworth explained my concern, and long story short, he made sure it was taken care of, no hassle, no run around. So that really capped an overall positive impression of this dealership. I would do business with Ainsworth again. That being said, it's buyer beware when you're shopping for a used vehicle at a dealership. Know what you want before you head out and don't be afraid to clear up any and all questions you have. Also, I was able to purchase a pretty reasonably priced 3yr Toyota Factory Warranty. That's nice security blanket to be able to fall back on with a used vehicle and something I guess you can only get through a factory authorized dealer. More

I had spent a month researching, test driving, and comparison shopping a Prius v at various dealerships before I contacted Toyota Marin. They were the only dealer in the SF area with upfront pricing comparison shopping a Prius v at various dealerships before I contacted Toyota Marin. They were the only dealer in the SF area with upfront pricing on their website and once I contacted them, they made the process very easy. Elizabeth Dunn did a super job preparing for the sale, providing financing quotes, arranging a flexible delivery date and finally changing vehicles the morning of to accommodate our last minute change of color. I had a very positive experience with Elizabeth Dunn and Toyota Marin in purchasing a (new) 2013 Toyota Prius this week. I actually started my search at another dealership closer to my home in the East Bay Toyota Marin in purchasing a (new) 2013 Toyota Prius this week. I actually started my search at another dealership closer to my home in the East Bay, but I became frustrated due to that dealership's lack of responsiveness and inability (or unwillingness) to provide direct answers to my questions. I reached out to Marin Toyota and the experience was 100% different. Elizabeth was immediately and consistently responsive and answered my questions directly. She was knowledgeable, efficient and focused on getting me precisely what I asked for. We were able to do a lot by phone and by email and when I came into the dealership, things went smoothly and exactly as we had discussed. No upsell and no messing around. If/when I buy another Toyota, I will not hesitate to call Beth (even though there are at least three dealers closer to my home). More
