There are many reputable Toyota dealerships out there that will not waste your time and treat you fair and square. EscondidoToyota is not one of them This is why. Escondido Toyota is a "bait & switch" that will not waste your time and treat you fair and square. EscondidoToyota is not one of them This is why. Escondido Toyota is a "bait & switch" used car dealership and don't deserve to carry the Toyota brand! My wife and I tried to buy a vehicle from this dealership and they were dishonest, unprofessional and unethical! We wrote to the President and Chief Executive Officer of Toyota North America, Mr. Ted Ogawa about our experience. Below is a copy of one of the emails we sent to Mr. Ogawa: "Dear Mr. Ogawa, Hope you and your family are doing well. I am writing to you because I want to share with you me and my wife's experience with a Toyota dealership in California. This morning, I copied you on the email (below) that I sent to Mr. Dan Myers, General Manager of the Escondido Toyota Dealership. As I mentioned in my email below, one of the main reason why my wife and I chose to purchase the 2103 VW EOS is because it is being sold by a Toyota Dealership. My wife and I trust buying cars from Toyota dealerships. We know Toyota has great reputations and always stands by its product and value customer service. Unfortunately, Escondido Toyota did not meet the this experctation and standards today. Based on what my wife and I experienced today, Escondido Toyota does have the values, culture and reputation that most Toyota Dealerships have and does not deserve to carry the Toyota brand because the actions and behaviors exhibited by some of this dealership employees specially Mr. Greg Cauhey, Sales Manager were unprofessional and disrespectful. These types of behaviors displayed and exhibited by Mr. Cauhey towards me and my wife today is what you will expect from a used car salesman in a used car dealership not from a reputable and trusted Toyota dealership. The unfortunate thing about the entire situation is Mr. Cauhey, Mr. Rivera, Mr Uyeno, and other sales representatives led us (i.e. me, my wife, and some of our friends & family members who also inquired about the same vehicle) to believe that the vehicle is still available for sale and that we are making the deal not telling us all that the vehicle is no longer available because it was already sold to another customer. It is uphauling that these sales people continued to set expectations knowing that they can't deliver. They played us all and waisted our time. These types of actions and behaviors are contradictory to the values espoused by Toyota. Mr. Ogawa, my wife and I are sharing our experience with you because we do not want any Toyota customers to go through what me, my wife, our friends and family members went through today. We will definitely share our Escondido Toyota experiences with friends and families. Thank you for taking the time to read my email. I also want to wish you well in your new position as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Toyota Motor North America. I want to end my email with your favorite quote; "We can, we will, we must" and I hope Toyota Dealerships adopt, practice and apply this quote to their customers and employees because they represent the Toyota brand and its values. Thank you. Sincerely, Rod More

Recall Experience I took my Rav4 to TOE in response to a Toyota recall notice, for paint that was peeling off the entire car. There was a waiting list a few months long I took my Rav4 to TOE in response to a Toyota recall notice, for paint that was peeling off the entire car. There was a waiting list a few months long, but OK, I would be patient. I got no call back after a few months, so I called them. They said that in about a month it would be my turn, and they would call me then. So I waited three more months, with no call. I called them back today and was told they were too busy with other work to deal with my recall issue, and too busy even to have given me a call back to let me know that they weren't going to do the work. They said they might be able to "get to it next year". It is early August as I write this. Fair warning: don't go anywhere near this dealership. More

Took it here for a prepaid tire rotation and oil change service and inspection. It took over 4 hours and I felt like a number, not a paying client. I don't recommend going here again. TOO EXPENSIVE I JUST BOUGHT A CAR FROM ESCONDIDO TOYOTA (my second), and I will not go back for another. First, I wondered why they began payments right away, when I JUST BOUGHT A CAR FROM ESCONDIDO TOYOTA (my second), and I will not go back for another. First, I wondered why they began payments right away, when so many dealers were giving people 3 mos. to begin paying due to the pandemic. First, I rethought getting only $1,000 dollars for my 2008 Scion (fully paid for, with new front brakes and fairly new tires)) when I had $5,000 to put down on my new car. Also, I was talked into extra warranties, So when I brought the car back in right away for a couple of reasons, I did not expect the expense. I wanted a strobe light to defend against rodents connected (I had bought it on Amazon for $25) under my hood; this was the connecting of TWO WIRES: it cost $77.50. Then, I wanted a few wires rewrapped because they were chewed on by rats before I caught this issue. I was told one wire needed to be replaced, but everything ended up costing me over $300. I was shell-shocked. And btw, I waited from 9:3am to 3pm for these repairs. I called to talk to the General Manager, and was instead put through to the Customer Service Mngr., who really didn't say anything to help. Unless it's covered (and call in to make sure beforehand), I wiould recommend you go to a private repair shop. More
