New Car Buyers Beware – Do Not Purchase Extended Warranties We bought our 2016 Highlander NEW from Town and Country Toyota in October 2016. At the same time, we purchased an Extended Warranty to cover beyond t We bought our 2016 Highlander NEW from Town and Country Toyota in October 2016. At the same time, we purchased an Extended Warranty to cover beyond the factory warranty, from 36,000 miles to 80,000 miles. Unfortunately, our car was in an accident and was declared a total loss before it reached 36,000 miles. Though we received no benefit from that extended warranty, Thurmon Floyd at Town and Country determined that we should only be refunded 70% of over $2200 that we paid for the warranty. Consumer Reports has long advised against purchase of extended warranties. Our customer experience with Town and Country Toyota just reinforces that nobody should ever waste their money on these extended warranties. More
