I had spent a lot of time on line and at various certified used cars dealers in Nassau & Suffolk counties researching prices and dealer reviews. Although most dealers were around the same prices Tow certified used cars dealers in Nassau & Suffolk counties researching prices and dealer reviews. Although most dealers were around the same prices Town & Country was the best deals I could find, even after the dealer prep and delivery fees are added in there net out the door price was good. Some dealers add them to there advertised price some do not. I needed to replace 2 vehicles I lost during Hurricane Sandy. I was reluctant to go to Town & Country because of a lot of negative online reviews I had read. But my impression of the place after meeting The salesman Ed Hyne during my first visit was a positive one , so I cautiously proceeded with getting actual worksheets made up with an out the door price including all dealer fees, except DMV stuff. All their dealings were above board and I did not see any signs of the type of underhanded or shady tactics referred to by others. Ed Hyne was fantastic in making sure that every thing went smooth, called me many times to inform me of what was going on and how the paperwork was proceeding, brought in some paperwork on his day off that I e-mailed to him because they could not read the fax copies at the office. Theresa in Finance worked hard to get both loans approved even though there were a few obstacles. I have purchased over 15 new vehicles in my life and never let the finance people sell me anything, on this deal I actually let them sell me the extended warranties on the 2 vehicles, because the numbers just worked out to my satisfaction. So they made money and I was happy, It's a WIN WIN. More
DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE!!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE!!!! THEY ARE THE BIGGEST DISRESPECTFUL IDIOTS EVER. I went to buy a used car priced online DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE!!!! THEY ARE THE BIGGEST DISRESPECTFUL IDIOTS EVER. I went to buy a used car priced online at $29,900. I went in with my trade in which they valued at 17,000. I owed 25,000 only trade in so I knew I was upside down which was fine. They tell me we can get the deal done for roughly around 40,000 dollars which sounds fair keeping in my in mind in upside down like 8,000 dollars. 30,000 for used car plus 8,000 plus interest and fees and I was putting 2500 down came out to financing 40,000. I went in to sign the papers and finalize the deal... Then Terrence Kelly the finance guy comes out (as I'm standing at the door, didn't even let me sit down), and starts saying it will cost around 67,000 dollars!!!!!... He said he also needs 6,000 dollars down payment!!! And my monthly payment will be 890 a month! I told him to please show me how he got that number and all he said was "THAT'S WHAT IT IS TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT"... I was so insulted, he was yelling at me in front of customers so I starte yelling back for my refund. He then proceeded to kick me out as he ran away to his back office. I stayed and got my refund. I drove an hour for nothing. Do yourself a favor and go to Merrick Dodge down the road. I left T and C and went to Merrick dodge and they sold me the car for 39,000 total. As opposed to 68,000. I will be driving down in my new Mopar 11 charger and asking for Terrence Kelly and doing a burnout right in front of his trash dealership. More
Moisture in my headlamps: a known warranty issue on the Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 due to the seals failing. Better dealers are replacing these without hassle, sometimes with multiple replacements until the i Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 due to the seals failing. Better dealers are replacing these without hassle, sometimes with multiple replacements until the issue is corrected with well-sealed headlamps. On two occasions I have requested James Brown to replace both headlamps. He acted evasive, argumentative and rude! Essentially refusing service under the terms of the warranty. They had my Jeep for a day and did nothing. Not even a car wash. More
I was not give answers as to price, interest rates, options, equipment desired, and pushed hard to buy on the spot. Trade was estimated 4-6K on line and offered $300 when I came in without even looking options, equipment desired, and pushed hard to buy on the spot. Trade was estimated 4-6K on line and offered $300 when I came in without even looking at the vehicle. They would not disclose finance rates and charges, incentives and were forcing me to only purchase from their finance company. I was told they had only one vehicle when their on line web site showed over 100. I was told I had to take delivery the next day before 4pm. I am so upset I looked for a site to post this. More
Approached by Jason while reviewing lot inv. He was knowledgable, personable, patient and helped me every step of the way to delivery of a new 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo X 4x4 with panaramic (grea knowledgable, personable, patient and helped me every step of the way to delivery of a new 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo X 4x4 with panaramic (great vehicle). The transaction was somewhat complex...which I won't go into but using his managers Mike P. and Ray to assist I was totally satisfied. I'm pretty good at negotiating and pushed them very hard. Still we laughed and enjoyed the interaction...at least I did. I knew what I wanted and they accomodated me with sincerity one doesn't experience in the car buying world too often. Hats off to Jason, Mike P, Ray and Marc B. (a propietor) -AG More
Went to purchase a 2007 Volkswagon Jetta advertised for $12,595.00. Willing to pay full price for cash. Oh but that price is only if you finance it and they tack on Destination charges and finance charge $12,595.00. Willing to pay full price for cash. Oh but that price is only if you finance it and they tack on Destination charges and finance charges to purchase it and you needed to hold the loan for at least 9 months. This is not made clear in any of there advertising and not mentioned at the initial visits to view the car. Only when we sat down to write the deal where these details mentioned. They are not honest and should not be trusted. Wish I would have seen these reviews first! More
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE FOR SERVICE! Let me save all of you a little time and money before you decide to bring your vehicle to Town & Country to get serviced. About a month ago we brought in our 5 year of you a little time and money before you decide to bring your vehicle to Town & Country to get serviced. About a month ago we brought in our 5 year old car because it wouldn’t start. We originally brought it to a family run mechanic, but they were unable to fix the problem, so he sent us to Town & Country. When we got there they told us our mechanic installed a dead battery and the vehicle couldn’t be started. So we left it there for them to fix. Jim, the service consultant has been handling our situation from the beginning. The car was left there for two weeks with us doing the leg work of calling to check on when it would be finished. After getting a lot of “running around” from Jim he told us our radio was the problem and could be fixed for $900, a price we were unwilling to pay because for starters he had our car for a long time and $900 is a ridiculous amount. So we said disconnect the radio and we would pay for a new battery and diagnostics. We go to get the car. The radio is sitting on the seat, there’s a gaping hole in the dashboard, our tire was flattened due to a nail in it. We tell them to fix it and their remedy was putting 50 pounds of air in a tire that takes 35 pounds of air. We bring the vehicle home and the fuse box cover is missing. We go back to get it. We bring the car back 2 days because it didn’t start again. Now they have had my car for an additional three weeks. They gave us a loaner car because we asked for one, which, according to Dodge Inc customer service they are supposed to offer one. Now every time we call to see what is going on Jim constantly reminds us we have the loaner car to use in the meantime. We need our car because its our car and our car has a permit attached to it that allows us to park at the train station so we can get to and from work. We want our car fixed - that’s it. Every time we call Jim, he assures us it will be Monday, then Monday comes and goes no phone call. We have absolutely had it!!! As I can see other people have had problems with this dealership. Complaining to them obviously will go no where because for years people have been complaining and I guess none of the publics’ complaints are enough for the owner of Town & Country Inc. to address. So now I ask of you, if you find yourself in the predicament I am in, to please call Dodge Inc. customer service at 800-763-8422. Also, call the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint or go online at www.bbb.org. The only way a business like this can go out of business is to file complaints with the appropriate authorities. If you’re forced to pay any monies to get your car back, keep all your receipts and a log of who you spoke to, and take them to civil court. Good luck and stay away! More
Provides phony maintainence booklet and tells you that your warranty will be void if you do not follow their direction: i.e.: Coolant Flush at 32k and 2 years 10 months. Chrysler says 102k and 8.5 yea your warranty will be void if you do not follow their direction: i.e.: Coolant Flush at 32k and 2 years 10 months. Chrysler says 102k and 8.5 years. I went to buy a Honda Accord. The advertised price of the car was 14,595. They were not negotiate the price. Since the price was good, I decide to buy the car. Then came the twist. They said there is a trans car was 14,595. They were not negotiate the price. Since the price was good, I decide to buy the car. Then came the twist. They said there is a transportation fee and another fee ( i dont remember what it was) which would cost another 1100+ dollars. They said it is standard in NY. I was from Maine and I believed it. Went to finance the car and the interest rate was 5.4 with an excellent credit history. I thought I could refinance but they wanted me to sign a contract for 6 months saying I will refinance only after 6 months. They asked me to pay $900 extra(on top of the sales tax) for registration and they would return the remaining money after registration. They did not give any proper receipts for this money collected. The registration costed only $300+. Stay away from these people. Never trust anything these guys say. George. More
My husband and I had been researching Town and Counrty mini-vans online. We came across this dealership and my husband was working with one of their sales associates, Joe. We had specifically been look mini-vans online. We came across this dealership and my husband was working with one of their sales associates, Joe. We had specifically been looking for a white Town and Country, with a sun-roof. Joe assured us he had three on his lot. Just before we made plans to make the trip to Long Island, we called Joe to confirm that the vehicle was still on lot. He assured us that it was. We took the trip to Long Island on the ferry, which cost us $140.00 alone, plus time and gas. If we did not take the ferry, round-trip driving would have taken five hours. When we arrived on the lot, Joe was not there. Joe had, apparently, told one of his associates we were coming (we think his name was Tom). This sales associate had been briefed to who we were and to what we were coming down for. The sales associate brought us into the guest lounge while he went to bring the van around to the front. As soon as I got in the van, I immediately looked up to see the sun-roof. It was not there. I asked the salesman, where it was...he acted confused like he did not know what I was talking about. We explained what Joe had said and how far we had traveled to the dealership. The salesman did not know what to do, but immediately began his sales pitch in a effort to sell us the van. He offered to discount the vehicle $500.00. First of all, we were throroughly insulted, and asked if he thought it was reasonable for him to think that we would come all this way to buy a van that we didn't want...especially since we had been very specific that we were looking for a vehicle with a sunroof. The sticker on the van was even misleading as it had a sunroof listed as one of the vehicle's amenities. Second, of all, the vehicle had scratch marks on the driver's side door. The scratches had been obviously touched up...it looked like a three-year old had done the work...the paint was in globs, and stood out like a sore thumb. The salesman apologized and said that he would check with his manager to see if they could send us a check the next week for $100 to make up for the time, trouble and expense of our trip. Other managers and floor staff come out to discuss. I made mention that, any one of them would be as upset as we were/are to have such an experience. Each one agreed. The salesman reiterated that he would try and have his manager send us a check. We said that would be appreciated and left. No check was ever sent, and it has been well over three weeks. I don't think one will be coming. It was a very unpleasant experience. This dealership, at the least, is not ethical in their practices. I know mistakes happen, but we called and confirmed right before we came that long way. We were ASSURED the vehicle was on the lot...with a sunroof. The dealership should have sent us the check, but obviously they did not think it was worth it to be ethical, since they probably figured they wouldn't see us again, anyway. Suffice to say, buyer beware. More
