Just recently bought a 2006 S60 from Torchlight with about 77K miles, a car that turned out to be exactly what we were looking for and expected to get being that all we were able to afford at this time about 77K miles, a car that turned out to be exactly what we were looking for and expected to get being that all we were able to afford at this time was a used car...key word being USED. We did our research and homework before buying this car. We bought this car with the understanding that it was used and not new, so we had no unreasonable expectations when it came to purchasing a used vehicle. My wife and I drove down from Northern Jersey after shopping around and doing our research ahead of time when it came to used Volvo's. Torchlight Motors website was also a huge help for us when we were shopping around, so we knew exactly what we were looking for by the time we drove down to the dealership. At the lot, we found Jeff and his salesman (Herb) to be friendly and informative. Compared to all the other cars we looked at in our price range, this S60 was the best vehicle for the money that we could find. Jeff does not negotiate prices (even though we did try to negotiate the price with him), but still found his price's to be so much more reasonable then other used S60's we have been pricing around at other dealerships. We also really liked the no pressure type sales people there are at Torchlight...instead, they give you a list of the cars they have available on the lot, which gives you all the information you need like the prices, mileage..etc...and then just allow you to look around with no pressure, unlike some other dealerships we visited before coming to Torchlight. Even though they also offer you a 3 month free warranty, we took advantage of the extended 4 year warranty that Jeff offers you at his dealer cost since we plan on keeping this car for the next 4 to 5 years. We felt it was a great deal, and the added peace of mind of owning a used vehicle. Overall our whole experience at Torchlight was non-eventful, comfortable and with no added pressure with pushy sales people. We love the car and are very satisfied with it, and plan on returning to this dealership the next time we are in the market again for a car. More
AWFUL, the bring new meaning to the word STEALERSHIP. I purchased a car from Jeff just days ago. As I was driving the car home I noticed that it was not shifting correctly, I stopped to put gas in the car purchased a car from Jeff just days ago. As I was driving the car home I noticed that it was not shifting correctly, I stopped to put gas in the car and noticed when I put it into park it felt like the car had dropped, then when I put it into drive it made the same noise, as I tried to merge back onto the highway the transmittion slipped. I am no car expert but I knew very well that the transmittion was bad. You cannot tell me that these people who are supposed Volvo "Experts" did not know that the car had a faulty transmittion. This guy is a CROOK!!!!! I dont even know how he can sleep at night. The following day I bring the car to HIS mechanic and they mechanic tells me, "Yeah, your transmittion is shot!" Great, we call Jeff, he tells us its our problem, once you drive the car off the lot its not his problem any longer. What a stand up guy. I really wish I had read the reviews on Torch light before I decided to do business with them. PLEASE READ THESE REVIEWS BEFORE YOU DO BUSINESS WITH TORCH LIGHT!!!!!!!! Save yourself headaches and misery. More
Worst Dealership ever, xxxxty broken cars that all need thousands of dollars of work. Jeff kept assuring me that nothing was wrong with his cars but every mechanic they went to told me otherwise. I bought two cars, a 2001 Volvo s40 and a 2002 volvo xc70, for $14,000 together. When I purchased them, they were both running fine. Before I picked up the s40, the check engine light had been on, but t xc70, for $14,000 together. When I purchased them, they were both running fine. Before I picked up the s40, the check engine light had been on, but they assured me it was a minor problem (the gas cap being open) and that it was taken care of. The s40 was for my daughter and, when picking it up, Jeff kept assuring me of how great this car was. The day after I drove the s40 home, the check engine light came on again and the acceleration went. When I had the car checked out, both catalytic converters had to be replaced as well as oxygen sensors and spark plugs which amounted to about $1400. Then, whenever I hit the brakes, the entire car shook and I heard a loud clanking noise--turns out my back rotors were completely shot, costing another $150. I just got those fixed and I went to take my car out today and it wouldn't start. The xc70 had the same problem two weeks after I picked it up. When I took it to get fixed, the mass air flow sensor needed to be replaced. When I called Torch Light, they said they would send me the part instead of me having to buy one. When the part arrived, it was used and the shop told me it was in worse shape then the one on my car. I spent $500 to fix the car that time and, when I drove it home, the problem came back and now they think there are broken computer chips. I haven't had the cars for a month yet and, right now, neither are in safe running condition. When I called Jeff about the first problem with the s40, they sent me a check for $300. Since then, they "understand my frustration, but it is out of their hands." When I purchased the cars, Jeff was nothing but pleasant. Now, they avoid my calls because they know the cars they sold me are garbage. I highly doubt these cars were even serviced prior to sale because the oil in both were burnt. More
I bought my sons 1st car here recently. I spoke to Jeff I bought my sons 1st car here recently. I spoke to Jeff on the phone before going,& where he wasnt the 'friendliest' person in the world, he was a s I bought my sons 1st car here recently. I spoke to Jeff on the phone before going,& where he wasnt the 'friendliest' person in the world, he was a straight shooter, honest, & told me what to expect & what not to. (From beginning to end he kept to his word on that by the way). If you want a typical dealer who acts nice to you & says anything to get you in the door, then don't go here. If you want the truth and can handle it, then go to Torch Light. Compared to all the other cars we had seen in my sons price range, this Volvo S40 was the best, be it at the top of our personal budget- & Torch Light does NOT negotiate on prices. It is what it is. Yes, that annoyed me & I still tried, but I would rather everyone get the same deal than a dealership hike up the price to play games. This is a used car dealership. For any used car, YOU need to do your homework before buying the car. The dealership can only know so much about the cars they get. You never know how the owners really treated the car & there are even some brand new cars that can be lemons, but in reality you have to expect some issues & things to happen along the miles when you get a used car. I did a carfax, looked up the vin, and the Kelly Blue Book Value of the car before even going down there. The KBB value of the car we wanted was $1600 OVER the price they were asking for it, just as Torch Lights ad had mentioned. Plus the car was just serviced & had a new timing belt (they claimed). We had spoken to Jeffs wife to be sure the car was still there before driving down, and she was nice enough also to make an exception to let my son pay with his bankcard should we buy the car. After a test drive arranged by a non pushy salesperson, my son wanted the car. While doing the paperwork however, we found out his student bank card had a $400 per day limit. We were shocked, but Jeff knew there may be a problem like this. Rather than take the $400 & have us come back, he took nothing & handed us the keys! Without knowing us at all, he let us drive off with the car, no money in hand & with just a handshake & a promise to send him a check by the end of the week. Working with people on an individual basis like this is what ensures repeat customers-which Torch Light has. I have any car I buy inspected by my mechanic of 15 years 1st thing. My mechanic could not believe the deal I got on this car, and was looking to find something wrong. The only thing found was 1 bulb burnt out, & the cruise control doesnt work- which is not a major thing. It isnt under the warranty offered, but at least Torch Light offers a 3 month free warranty that covers the majority of cost for most major issues. This is more than other used car dealers offer... Not only did my mechanic not find anything major wrong, but he said there were factory made parts with the Volvo tags still intact used for this car in the service it was given by Torch Light. I am a jaded New Yorker & I do go by customer reviews a lot- but I am glad I focused on the GOOD reviews some people took the time to write & not just the bad ones. Many bad ones were because people did not do their homework 1st, follow the warranty instructions (very important you follow those or the warranty is VOID) or they expected nothing to ever be wrong with a used car with a bunch of miles. My son loves his car and it is a great safe 1st car. I have 1 more son to buy one for and likely will be returning here again. If you want your ego stroked by fake acting dealers who tell you anything & stroke your hair with 1 hand and pick your pocket with the other, then go somewhere else. Otherwise check out Torch Lights inventory, CHECK the car's history before you go, & have a mechanic check after if you buy it- and hope for the best like we all do when buying a car. More

Please avoid this dealership, cars are not in good condition, I had to send the V70 to the mechanic 1 week after buying it, they told me the car was really in bad condition. Gas Leaking, Turbo Leaking condition, I had to send the V70 to the mechanic 1 week after buying it, they told me the car was really in bad condition. Gas Leaking, Turbo Leaking, refrigerator leaking, starter broken, and many other things, I have the papers from Volvo Edison reporting everything. My fault not to bring someone with me to pre check the car. Be smart forget about Torch Light! More
I said i wouldn't recommend torchlight bu i would if you know what you are doing. He basically bus cars from auctions at cheap prices and tells them on. They come from all over and he doesn't do any work o know what you are doing. He basically bus cars from auctions at cheap prices and tells them on. They come from all over and he doesn't do any work on them beyond making them look good. Mechanically its total pot luck, as long as they are running he doesn't care. i bought a used 2005 V50. No real complaints about it, a few things have gone wrong but i would expect that with any used car. My main gripe with him is that he concealed the truth. I had the car checked out before i bought it. they told me that one side had been repainted and the window replaced. this didn't show up in the carfax report. I confronted him with this and he said "ohyeah, i bought it with a scrape on it and repainted it, so what, still wanna buy it?" the price was right and he knew, he sells it for what it is but bascially 'tarts up' every car. If you buy from him get it checked out by a third party, $150 for an inspection is pennies for peace of mind. More
I bought this car from this guy and have had nothing but trouble with this lemon. I too was durged to purchase the extended warranty from Eagle Warranty. I just found out that this warranty company has gone trouble with this lemon. I too was durged to purchase the extended warranty from Eagle Warranty. I just found out that this warranty company has gone beely up and have left people, me included, stuck.I have owned this car for less than 2 years and have already had a rebuilt transmission, multiple sensors and various other problems. I strongly urge anyone who might be looking at buying a car from this crook to run in the other direction. More
I went to look at a used Volvo xc 90. I delt with Jeff the owner. Jeff told me that someone else was also interested in the car but a $500.00 deposit would hold it. Jeff also convinced me to include a us the owner. Jeff told me that someone else was also interested in the car but a $500.00 deposit would hold it. Jeff also convinced me to include a used car warranty in the price. When I heard some bad things about Torchlight Motors and Jeff I decided not to purchase the car. Jeff told me too bad I am keeping your deposit. This guy doesn't have to sell many cars, he can just screw poeple out of their deposit which I was told was refundable. More
