Vyus is the main reason I would recommend this dealership So, my wife's car was totaled in a horrific crash and we knew what kind of car we wanted based on that. Previously, we'd bought our cars in Columbia So, my wife's car was totaled in a horrific crash and we knew what kind of car we wanted based on that. Previously, we'd bought our cars in Columbia and Summerville respectively, but with her injuries, we just didn't really have the collective energy to get out of Orangeburg to find a car. So when we saw Plaza had what we were looking for, we jumped on it and checked it out. The car was pretty much exactly what we were looking for, but for a 2018, there were some cosmetic issues both internally and externally that we felt like needed to be addressed simply because I'm not buying some beater from a scrap lot. This is a car that should go 200,000 miles or more, and with an above average credit score and money to do put down, we did not feel like it was asking too much to have some of the dings in the hood fixed the floor mats replaced. There was also a part on the gear shift column that looked melted. While I'm sure these fixes probably aren't cheap, nor was the car. So again, if you're in the car business, you gotta give a little to get a little. I didn't haggle on the price, so I expected there to be some amenities thrown in. And here is where things got a little sideways. I'm not going to use names, but when we met with the woman my wife had been speaking to on the phone, she was very friendly and personable -- she gave off a great impression. Basically, though, she was just sort of telling us what we wanted to hear to make a sale, and I don't actually think she had any intentions of following through on anything she promised us (i.e. complimentary oil changes, fixing the gear shift, fixing the paint, detailing the car (it was not clean), making sure it had floormats, etc.). When the car was delivered to my wife, she was so displeased that none of these had been taken care of that she requested them to come back and get it and fix the issues. She told me that the saleswoman who was so accommodating to us in person told her over the phone, "It's a used car, you get it as is, and that's just how it is." Well, not for us. So, they came and got the car, and left us a loaner that had 32 miles worth of gas in it. Yes, 32 miles. Never before have I been given a loaner where I *had* to buy gas to get anywhere. Unreal. So, now for the title of my review. Vyus is THE man to see at Plaza. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and above all that, has integrity. Everything we were told would be done, Vyus ensured that it was done. Unfortunately, any time my wife complained about something that went wrong, anyone he spoke to blamed Vyus for it. Why is this odd, you ask? Because even though he test drove the car with us and was our initial in-person contact for the car, it is my understand he was given zero commission although he did the lion's share of the work. Admittedly, my wife and I are demanding people, if for no other reason than when I spend my money with you, you need to earn my business. Plaza Dodge, *you* did not earn our business. Vyus earned it by following through on everything he said he would. If he did not, in fact, receive any money for his part in our buying the car, then shame on the management there. It is not good business to tell people things in order to get their money without having the intent to commit to those promises. I sincerely believe that had it not been for persistence, and Vyus advocating for us, none of the things were told in order to get me to sign the bottom line would have been honored. My hope is that the car has a long life and we made the right choice purchasing it, but I also would hope that this review can be used by some of the employees there as a reality check about what to do and not do when dealing with customers, because had it not been for my wife's injuries, we would have gone back to CarMax as we have three times before and bought a car there. We're loyal customers, and at this stage, I would like to be able to say I'd go back to Plaza, but they're going to have to earn that trust back, because they lost it from the jump. Not a good look. But they have a lot of nice rides and the prices seem pretty reasonable. So I suggest if you see something you like to go check them out, but ask for Vyus, he'll do you right. More
