Dishonest & Apathetic Dealership This dealership is dishonest, will say anything to get you into a deal, make promises they can't keep, and does not value customer loyalty. When appro This dealership is dishonest, will say anything to get you into a deal, make promises they can't keep, and does not value customer loyalty. When approached with dissatisfied customers, sales manager will like about the availability of general managers and owners. Management claims ignorance and backs the dishonesty of their salesmen while claiming they can do nothing to help. My wife and I currently lease one of the TDI Jetta models that Volkswagen corporate was court ordered to buy back or fix free of charge due to lying about its emissions. We know we had the option to either terminate our lease early or have Volkswagen fix the car, however we had heard that the option to keep the car may longer be an option, so we went to the dealership to find out if that were true. Upon arriving, Tony met us as we stepped out of our car and I explained to him why we were there. When I asked him if I was able to keep my car, he told me that I wasn't going to be allowed to keep it. Since I liked the Jetta, I decided that I would stay loyal to Volkswagen and lease a brand new Jetta. During negotiations, I mentioned that because we planned on keeping the TDI Jetta, we had put a bunch of miles on the car expecting to purchase it at the end of our lease term. Now that we couldn't keep the car, I asked if we would be responsible for the over mileage, to which Tony say yes, but that the settlement amount that we would receive would more than cover that cost. We told Tony that we didn't think that we should be responsible at all for paying over mileage since the only reason we were returning the car was because we would eventually be forced to. He then told us that we'd have to discuss this when we made an appointment to see a Volkswagen representative designated for the buybacks for the diesel engine cars. Again, he assured us that the settlement money we would receive would more than cover the cost of over mileage. When it came down to make the deal, I made sure to ask Tony if by signing on a new lease, it would mean that I would no longer have to make payments on my old lease, he looked me straight in the eye and told me no. He told me that because the cover is with them on their lot, we won't have to make any more payments on the car. After finalizing the deal, Tony told us to make sure we went home and completed the claims form to terminate our lease early and schedule an appointment to see the Volkswagen representative. We went home, got online, and completed the forms as instructed. After waiting two days for the claim to process, we received an email from Volkswagen stating our two options and to return the signed documents via upload, mail, or fax. This is when the first red flag appeared. Tony had told me that I didn't have the option to keep he car, however the legal document I received from Volkswagen was stating that I could have selected the option for Volkswagen to fix the car. Secondly, the amount of payout I would receive for the settlement wasn't enough to cover the over mileage on the car, which once again, Tony had told us that it would. I then called the VW Court Settlement number listed on the legal documents and spoke to a customer service representative. She told me that not only would I be responsible for the over mileage on the car, but that I would also have to continue to make payments on my TDI Jetta up until our scheduled appointment date and possible up to 15 days afterward. So that now brings the total blatant lies told to us by our salesman Tony, up to three. After I got off the phone with the representative, I called Tony immediately and asked him once again if I would be responsible for making any more payments on the TDI Jetta. He once again told me that I shouldn't have to make those payments, but he needed to check with someone to make sure. Of course, now that I've already signed a deal for a new lease, now he wants to double check and make sure of the promise he already made. Ridiculous! He then told me that the person he would ask had already gone home and that he'd have to call me back tomorrow. You can already see where this is going, can't you? Tony never called me back, so my wife and I went back to the dealership a day later and asked to speak with their general manager. He wasn't in the office that day, but we were told he would definitely be there on Saturday from 9am-6pm. My wife and I once again made the trip to the dealership and upon arriving, we asked to speak with the general manager. First we were asked if we had an appointment with him and when we said no, they asked us our names and why we were there. We explained our situation to a sales manager, Dimitrios, who explained to us that because it wasn't written in our deal, that they were not responsible for making payments on our car and that the cost of over mileage was something they knew nothing about and couldn't help us with. We once again asked to speak to the general manager and were told that he wasn't there yet again. This is after we were assured the previous day that he would be there all day. We then asked to speak with the owner who, through the sales manager Dimitrios, told us to make an appointment to see him on Tuesday, as they were too busy because of their President's Day Sale. My wife and I weren't looking for anything extra. We were just trying to get what was promised to us by our salesman Tony. We don't believe it is right for us to have to 1) continue to make car payments on our old Jetta after we were told me wouldn't have to, and 2) pay any penalties for over mileage after we were told that our settlement would more than cover the costs. Every step of the transaction we were misled in order to get us to sign a new lease deal. Listen, I like the Jetta model. That's why even after the huge scandal Volkswagen is dealing with, we decided to stay loyal. How did they thank us for that loyalty? By lying to us and misleading us into leasing a new car. I don't believe that is right and don't believe they should get away with something like this. If you're planning to buy a car from this dealership, I suggest you stay away. As for Volkswagen as a whole, I can no longer stay loyal and support a company that cares so little for their customer satisfaction. More

NEVER AGAIN I purchased my first lease here under the old ownership. I was happy with the service I received then. Now, my lease was up under the new owners I purchased my first lease here under the old ownership. I was happy with the service I received then. Now, my lease was up under the new ownership. I received countless advertisements and phone calls about buying back my lease early. I finally gave in to see what it was all about. 1. Met with salesman and was very clear about what I needed. I told him I didn't want my time wasted and if he couldn't meet my needs, to please respect my time, let me go and I'll bring the car in at lease end. He told me my needs were reasonable and that they could work with me. Then, the dreaded let me talk to my manager. Of course, the price was no longer reasonable and what was supposed to be a great early buy back, was just a con-job to get me into the dealership. After 3 hours and the salesman deciding to make me wait while he handled another customer, I left disgusted. 2. For 3 months after that they would constantly call me. I explained to a different salesman the scenario listed above and he promised the moon and stars and never called back. More salesmen called, and more mailings arrived. 3. I went to another dealership in Monmouth County and walked out with a new lease in under 3 hours. * I can't help but notice the environment in the Monmouth County dealership is much more laid back and positive. Employees seem to be treated well there. I don't get the feeling employees at TR feel valued. Otherwise, they would have more respect for the time of their customers. Advice- Take care of your employees, and they will treat your customers like gold. I'm glad I moved on. More

Nick E wen My husband and I recently bought a 2013 Jetta TDI. The sales team was excellent in answering our questions regarding the VW Diesel Lawsuit. Nick E went out of his way to help make the sale happen. On a follow up service visit, Michael H and his team took care of all of our needs. I further want to thank Melissa, the dealer manager, for speaking with us and resolving a question we had. The environment is fun, hip, lively. Not at all the typical car buying experience, but then again VW's are not the typical car. We have owned 8 and will certainly keep coming back. Thank you Toms River Volkswagen. Well Done! More
