They continue to do a good job servicing my car. Angela kept me informed of what was going on and would take no action without my approval. The work on my truck took a little longer then expected. My vehicle is now running smooth and I have no complaints. Not very expensive for the work that was done. My vehicle is now running smooth and I have no complaints. Not very expensive for the work that was done. More
I had my 2008 Corvette Z06 (45K long distance miles) towed to Tom Bell Chevrolet in Redlands on Tuesday, July 13 due to “Key fob not found” non-start issue. All the electronics were still working. I h towed to Tom Bell Chevrolet in Redlands on Tuesday, July 13 due to “Key fob not found” non-start issue. All the electronics were still working. I had already read all the threads on Corvette Forum, attempted to fix the problem by disconnecting/re-connecting the car battery, replacing the fob battery, reprogramming the fob, but nothing worked. Wednesday 07/14, the Service Advisor, Annette Book, called to inform me the starter was bad and needed to be replaced for $1700 ($584 parts $950ish labor). Following the replacement, they would move on to the next diagnosis if this didn’t fix the fob issue. Now, I may be female and not know a lot about cars, but I do know when I’m getting financially ripped off. Apparently when people take their car, or have it towed in this case, to the dealership, service techs assume we’re desperate so we’ll pay any price we are quoted. Are they still making commission on service sales? Needless to say, I was pissed. Saturday, July 17 I had the car towed out of Tom Bell Chevrolet and delivered home again. Two weeks later, with a new ACDelco starter in hand, purchased through RockAuto for just over $100 including shipping, we were prepared to spend 2 hours changing it out, after all, it’s a starter, not an engine. At this point, the fob wasn’t opening the doors either. Hmmm, could the problem just be a battery issue? You bet, changed out the battery and the car started right up. Guess it didn’t actually need a starter, but they were going to sell me one anyway. Another two weeks have gone by and the car continues to start perfectly, each and every time. Thanks Tom Bell Chevrolet, for trying to rip me off, much appreciation! Save yourself time and large amounts of money by avoiding Tom Bell Chevrolet. Find a good mechanic and go somewhere else. More
