After being there for an hour (with a newborn) the salesman finally gave some numbers. They wanted to bake in $1500 for not financing thru them, another $1700 for their “inspection,” and another $3500 for a “blinking 3rd brake light” that said they installed. They initially tried to hide all of these in their monthly payment, without disclosing they had added it in. DON’T ever trust this dealership, they will scam you! More

My son, and I went to Nissan Tim Dahle in Bountiful around 10:30 AM on January 11th. My son had recently bought a car from a private seller, but it broke down just two weeks after he purchased it. He needed a car immediately so he could get to work in Park City. I had knee surgery on December 27th and was still in pain, but my son needed help. No matter how much pain I was in, I had to be there for him. When we arrived, one of the salespeople took us to the showroom. My son had seen a Tesla on their website, so he wanted to test drive it. The car was listed for under $18,000 with approximately 75,000 miles on it. After driving it, he really liked it. The salesman wrote the price on a piece of paper. I told him that I could put $5,000 down as a down payment. He went into a room to discuss it with his manager and then returned with a payment plan for eight months. He said the monthly payment would be about $435 for eight months, after which we could arrange financing through a bank of our choice. He also mentioned that the interest for these eight months would be about $100 per month. At around 1:00 PM, I suggested to my son that we take a break to eat and discuss whether we wanted to proceed with the purchase. During lunch, we decided to go ahead with the deal. My son called the salesperson to confirm our decision. When we returned to the dealership, both sides agreed on no payments for 90 days, which I thought would give my son time to sort out the issues with his previous car. I asked the salesperson about sales tax, title fees, and other costs. He told us that those fees would be our responsibility. Around 3:00 PM, we finally sat down in the finance office to sign the contract. We did not read the documents carefully; we simply signed electronically based on what the finance person told us. He never mentioned any extra fees during the signing process. One month later, I received a bank statement showing that we owed $24,445.40 on the car loan. I asked my son to contact the dealership, but he didn’t act immediately. Two weeks later, he went to Nissan Tim Dahle in person. The sales manager told him, “You already signed the papers, so there’s nothing we can do.” On March 8th, my son and I went to Nissan again to speak with the sales manager. At first, he repeated the same response—that we had signed the contract. I explained that the numbers didn’t make sense. The car price was $18,000, and I had put down $5,000. That should have left a loan balance of $13,000. I understood that we were responsible for sales tax, title fees, and registration fees, which are typically charged by dealerships. Those fees should have been around $2,500 at most. That meant the total out-the-door price should have been about $15,500. However, the loan amount was $24,445.40—an extra $10,000. With that kind of money, we could have bought a new car. I also mentioned that we had budgeted for a $15,000 total cost, but the unexpected price increase made the payments unaffordable for my son. He is a full-time college student who also works full-time to pay off student loans, rent, and basic living expenses. The sales manager told us the store manager would contact me the following Monday. However, I never heard back. On March 15th, I sent an email to the dealership requesting to speak with the store manager. They responded that someone would contact me immediately. Eventually, I received a phone call from the sales manager. He first asked if I was looking to buy a car, to which I replied no—I needed to speak with the general manager. He acknowledged that he knew who I was and said he was surprised the general manager hadn’t contacted us. He promised to send another message to him. Still, I have received no phone call. More

Don't get scammed like me! I'm embarrassed for both this unscrupulous dealership and myself. I should have walked out the door when the price they quoted me didn't match the one they advertised online but my spouse really wanted an EV. So instead I haggled with the sales agent, who kept trying to push me to finance, for over an hour. And by "haggling" I mean the agent would pretend to walk back and forth between me and her manager and scribble each 'negotiated offer' on a random sheet of paper for me. Despite me telling her I'd just like to speak directly with whom ever was generating these numbers and see a properly printed document. Right before close they finally "came down in price" to a number that was still $700 higher than their original advertisement. Fine. I'm tired and by this point my kids are trying to murder each other where they're waiting. So I agree to the price verbally, with her verbally acknowledging that I get the tax rebate. They bring me another number that includes tax & title fees - sales tax is over a grand so then I have to argue about that (I'm supposed to be taxed at the Montana rate and we have no sales tax). They've added on a brake plus thing where they claim they've serviced the vehicle and replaced the battery - even though on inspection I pointed out that at least the starter battery has significant corrosion, so clearly they haven't serviced it. They fix the taxes but refuse to budge on the $1000 "brake plus" fee for the "servicing" they likely didn't do on the vehicle. They finally bring me to the guy who writes the contract so that I can sign for the car. (Side note -there was this weird progression of agents - first a young Latin guy, second generation immigrant they made stage out in the cold - then a 30 something female sales rep - then finally a white man. Like they were trying to prey on people's subconscious biases about authority.) My spouse is back with a trailer at this point so we can tow the EV home with us. Contract guy kind-of rushes us through signing, verbally acknowledging again that "well at least you'll get that tax rebate." My dumb self is so tired after spending 3 or 4 hours at this dealership that I do not read the contact in full. I know better! And they've already given me how many red flags at this point?! Sign everything and drive off with the car. (Dealership also froze my charging port by washing the car in below freezing weather as a parting gift). Only two months later so I realize - when the IRS sends me a letter - that the dealership has claimed the tax rebate themselves. So IF you're a SUCKER like me and still want to do business with these crooked people prepare yourself to deal with tactics like I've described above. And absolutely review your documents - specifically your "motor vehicle contact of sale" (about half way through the documents they give you for signatures). If YOU are supposed to get the rebate there should be NOTHING listed under "MFR rebate" or "Portion/Rebate applied to purchase." I've taken a picture of mine so you know what to look for. Go elsewhere fellow consumers. And to Tim Dahle - I've served my country for 16 years and done business with all manner of people. My family has bought cars across the country, but until I came to your dealership I'd never actually been subjected to such aggressive and exploitative sales tactics. I'm ashamed to have not just walked away, but you should be ashamed to have your name attached to a business that preys on your community! More

This dishonesty cost me almost 800$ (I drove 9 hours, just to have to purchase a plane ticket home.) I called about a used 2011 nissan armada platinum. The carfax looked phenomenal, great history of maintenance, and major drivetrain repairs completed recently. I was connected with a salesman by the name of Levi. I requested photos or a video of the SUV, which I received the following day. In the video, Levi said that the vehicle was with the service department the day before and that was the cause of the delay. He then did a tour of the vehicle (very dirty, but he promised that it would be detailed before my arrival) and stated that the vehicle was in great condition. I called him and asked about the inspection, to which he replied it went through a 157 point inspection, and that it was a great vehicle. I asked him specifically about the catalytic converters, knowing they are a common failure on these vehicles. Again, Levi told me it was a great car and had passed the 157 point inspection, and they only do write ups on these inspections if they find issues. Given this information I put a deposit on the vehicle, took a day off of work, and purchased a one way rental car to Salt Lake from Kalispell, Montana. Levi told me he would be on vacation, but got me set up with another salesman to finalize the deal when I arrived. So I drove the 9 hours, booked a hotel, and missed a day of work. Upon arrival, it was clear that everything Levi stated about the vehicle was a lie. No detail had been done, the drivers seat was broken and would not move back (I'm 6'5" and my knees were touching the dash.) The engine ran extremely rough at idle, the rear air suspension was shot, heavy leaks from the engine. I still took the test drive to see if the vehicle was salvageable at all. I plugged in my live read OBD2 scanner which indicated that not one but BOTH cats were toast (around 2500$ repair) and the engine was in extremely poor health. The salesman there informed me that this was an as-is vehicle and that no inspection was performed, and that any issues would be mine to address (apart from the seat motor which he said they might be able to fix.) The vehicle was essentially a ticking time bomb, and they wanted 7k for it. They offered plenty of aplogies saying they would "have a talk with Levi" and offered to refund my 500$ deposit. Personally a "talk" isn't enough and I think Levi should be fired for this behavior, coming from someone who was a car salesman. This type of dishonesty has a legal term -fraud- which cost me time and money that I can never get back. After all of this, the dealership lied about my refund (they never initiated the refund) and I had to call and complain to corporate to get my refund. This place should be shut down, given the plethora of bad reviews that are so similar to mine. I hope that Levi is never treated as poorly as he treated me as a customer. Money isn't everything, and some lessons are extremely expensive, but none the less I was offered nothing but empty apologies for the lost time and money. Run, don't walk AWAY from Tim Dahle Nissan in Bountiful, UT. More
