I would say this is a good review but I guess it depends who you are. I found my 2008 Mercury Mariner on autotrader.com, it had a clean carfax that listed that the vehicle had regular maintance, had spent who you are. I found my 2008 Mercury Mariner on autotrader.com, it had a clean carfax that listed that the vehicle had regular maintance, had spent its life in the south, and had been in no accidents. So I contacted the dealer and within a few hours I had a response from the online sales lady, Jamie I think her name was. She assured me that they had the vehicle and that I should come take a test drive. The next day my boyfriend and I drove the hour to the dealership where we met AJ. We take the mariner for a test drive and it rode beautifully so we proceed to start the sale. The bank I was initially with had a really high interest rate and I was unable to afford the mariner through them. AJ then decided to show me a vehicle he said I would like with lower miles and be able to finance... At this point, AJ just turns into a car dealer because he showed me a newer Dodge Avenger that was way out of my price range and nothing at all what I was looking for, I told him absolutely not. AJ then talked to finance and James the manager to lower the price of the mariner and get me approved through another bank with a lower interest rate. This was great news! I told them that I wanted to think about it, AJ got pretty pushy but James said it would be fine. My boyfriend and I went to lunch, I called my insurance company to see what my rate would be, and I decided to buy it! We went back to the dealership they cleaned up the mariner and we were out in no time! Now for the tricky part. On the second day of owning the mariner it started driving funny and the powertrain light came on, I began to panic because in ga there is no official 'cooling off' period. I contacted the dealer but it was after service hours so james instructed me to call back in the morning. Unfortunately I had work that morning and had to wait till 3pm to contact them but James just told me to bring the mariner back and he would have the mechanics look at it. Well turns out the initial inspection missed that the transmission was going out at only 108,000miles (not sure how they missed that but ok). James worked with me, called the bank, and said I can switch the mariner out with something comparable and he would just do an even trade. He introduces me to Matt Platt and we begin the hunt for something comparable. Matt was super friendly and helpful and never once tried to force me into something I wouldnt be happy with. long story short they didnt have anything even close to my mariner. So back to james. James decides to give me a loaner car to see if he can get the mariner fixed for a resonable price. I agree. I call back the next day after work, talk to james, and he gives me the awesome news that they are going to fix the transmission (costing them $2800) and give me a 3 year powertrain warranty all at no cost to me! I am thrilled! I currently still have the loaner car till I get my mariner back on monday and I am super excited! Thank you James and Matt for helping me through all this! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I was in the market for a new vehicle. After looking at a few dealerships around Augusta, I decided to give Thomson Dodge a call. They put me through Mike Crook, who was not only helpful but made sure that all of my needs were met. The atmosphere is very friendly, almost like you are apart of the family from the moment you walk in the door. The car I was looking for was not available on the lot at the time, end of the month. Not once did Mike try to steer me to another vehicle. He did however make sure I was able to sit in and drive a very comparable model. The only difference was that I wanted the Blacktop Package. This is my first new car purchase, but I have purchased from dealerships in the past and this was by far the BEST SERVICE EVER. They located my car for me and had it there in less than 24 hrs!!! I highly recommend speaking with Mike Crook if you are in the market for a vehicle, but anyone there would be glad to help you and I am confident you would receive the same great service that I did. Upon calling the dealership, I was put in touch with Larry Waxman, who would become my salesman. I live in Pennsylvania and Thomson is in Georgia!! I felt very comfortable with Larry right off the bat.....over the phone! We worked well together on the telephone to put together a deal and a down payment. The price was really right and it was well worth it for me to travel to Georgia to buy the vehicle, but without the assurances and degree of comfort I got from Larry Waxman, I don't believe that I would have gone that great a distance to buy. I arrived early in the morning and the first thing Larry did was buy me breakfast!!!!! How nice is that? The Jeep was then cleaned and prepped, very much to my satisfaction, while we did all the necessary paperwork and familiarization with the Patriot. The staff I met at Thomson all seemed very friendly, a few of them even having 'relocated' from up north. I have bought brand new motor homes, cars and trucks, and I can say without hesitation that Larry was the most genuine, professional and courteous salesperson I have EVER dealt with. If the need and opportunity arises again, I would make the run to Thomson! And I would specify that Larry be my 'go to guy'. I could not have had a better experience. And being so far from home, that was very, very important! Thanks buddy.........I feel like I have made a new friend, not just jammed with some phony sales pitch! Overall everyone was very nice and helpful. I would definitely buy here again, my only complaint was that I had to come back the next day to sign papers after we had purchased the vehicle(my fault I ha definitely buy here again, my only complaint was that I had to come back the next day to sign papers after we had purchased the vehicle(my fault I had to work and we could be there together) but I had to wait about 30 minutes before I could see someone about signing my part of the papers and I had just worked a 13 hour night shift. I think that if it's just a consigned needing to sign it shouldn't have to be only one person who can do that ESP if they are with another customer. We live out of town so it wasn't conveinant to keep going up there and wait. But again overall the device and everyone was great and Paul was very nice! More
