Whitaker Purchase of 2014 Nissan Altima 3.5SL Since May 11, 2014 (when my 2003 Lexus ES300 was “totaled” due to an accident not my fault), my wife, Barbara, and I visited multiple new car dealers Since May 11, 2014 (when my 2003 Lexus ES300 was “totaled” due to an accident not my fault), my wife, Barbara, and I visited multiple new car dealers (Lexus, Infiniti, Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, etc) in Northwest Indiana. The preferred selection was a 2013 Nissan Altima 3.5SL color: Java Brown owned by Nissan of Schererville, IN for sale in the $30,000 range. My wife then began contacting Nissan Dealers in the Chicago area as to the availability of the same car in a 2014 version. She eventually got in contact with Jimmy Thomas of Thomas Nissan of Joliet who indicated he had found the exact vehicle we preferred and it was at a Nissan Dealership in Rockford, IL and indicated he would happy to drive to Rockford, and drive the vehicle back to show it for our review, test drive and possible purchase. We met Jimmy in the afternoon of May 27 and test drove the 2014 Nissan Altima 3.5SL vehicle and he painstakingly explained all of the options, gadgets, etc; he obviously “knew the car” backwards and forwards and answered all of our questions without hesitation. Earlier on May 27, 2014, Jimmy readily volunteered to drive the car from Joliet to our home in Munster, IN for our test driving, vehicle inspection, etc which we rejected by agreeing to drive to Joliet to finalize the purchase. We later learned that Jimmy Thomas was in some sort of trainee/internship program through Purdue University Calumet in Hammond, IN and my wife and I can emphatically state in this Dealer Review that based upon our experience, Jimmy Thomas is “ready for the big time.” Also, Finance Manager, Steve Gramera, was particularly helpful explaining all of the benefits, the deductions, rebates and advantages of our electing to finance part of the purchase purchase with NISSAN MOTOR ACCEPTANCE CORPORATION. As noted above, customer service, friendliness, overall experience and price was superb. Thomas Nissan of Joliet definitely lived up to the commitment of Jimmy Thomas to provide a very simple, honest and hassle-free vehicle purchase experience and I would most definitely recommend this dealership. Going into Thomas Nissan I was greeted by every person working there, the salesman, the porters, the servicemen, everyone was pleasant. Matt Richards was our salesman and was very easy to work with. I feel the slightest pressure from a salesman, I usually part ways and head to another dealership. Mr. Richards was truthful and to the point about our purchase and trade-in. Financing was easy and quick! I would recommend Thomas Nissan to anyone and I will put them at the top of my list if I need to purchase a car again. More

Great experience We were interested in purchasing a new 2014 Nissan Frontier. After much research, we narrowed it down to four nearby dealerships that had very similar We were interested in purchasing a new 2014 Nissan Frontier. After much research, we narrowed it down to four nearby dealerships that had very similar pricing on the exact model we wanted. I actually called all 4 dealerships personally and spoke to their salespeople. One dealer told me she couldn't give me her best price over the phone, I had to come in. Another dealer told me that the "destination fee of $850 was in addition to the price he gave me" so I didn't go there. The third dealership only had 1 vehicle in stock, but the price was exactly the same as Thomas Nissan. We live in Joliet, and I knew that 2 free synthetic oil changes and free car washes for life were a current incentive, so why would I drive to North Aurora to get the same deal? So luckily, Thomas Nissan in Joliet had 3 vehicles to choose from. When I called, I spoke to Chris Barrera. I was very honest with him about the fact that I am a bargain hunter, coupon shopper and price researcher. I do not buy anything without knowing I am getting a good deal. Chris in turn was very honest with me, and explained the fine print, and got the numbers as close as he could to the final sale amount for me. We came into the showroom Friday night and met Chris in person. He is a very nice young man who is deeply knowledgeable about all types of cars. We negotiated our trade in value and bought our new truck. We left feeling like we got a good deal fair and square. Nothing in the world of new cars is a freebie or a bargain, that's just how life is. But Chris is an honest, non-pushy salesman, and the dealership treats you fairly.
