I have been coming to Autobarn Countryside for many years and over those years I have watched the sales and service department go through constant changes in an effort to improve the experience for the years and over those years I have watched the sales and service department go through constant changes in an effort to improve the experience for the customer. I am never intimidated or afraid to take my vehicles in to the Autobarn Dealership in Countryside because I know that I will always be treated fairly, and respectfully. When I take my vehicles in for service I know that when one of the service representatives tell me that I need something done that they have my best interest in mind, and I can be rest assured that they are being honest and straight forward. I especially like that I can call, and speak directly with a service representative who knows exactly what is happening with my vehicle, and they ensure that the work is being done in a timely fashion. EVERY service representative that I have dealt with has a unique, charming personality, and sense of humor that is simply delightful in every regard. I mean, they really understand the angst a customer is facing with the prospect of spending a large sum of money in todays economy in order to keep their vehicle in top shape. Subsequently, they go out of their way to research coupons and other discounts and apply them accordingly to ease the customer's stress. The parts department is on top of their game. I have yet to be told that a part for my vehicle is not in stock to the extent that it will inconvenience me or my family. It is obvious that every effort is being made to ensure that the inventory is kept up to above standard. Sometimes, when I am waiting for my vehicle, I watch the interaction of the employees with everybody they come in contact with, and they never wain. The mechanics have a great relationship with the service folks and it is clear that there is great communication going on. I like that the mechanic working on my vehicle, if necessary, will talk to me directly to help me understand the issue(s) with my vehicle. It is obvious that they know their craft, and make sure I understand; all with a smile and great sense of humor and assurance that it will be ok. The sales department does a great job, too. I like that when I walk around, the salesmen greet you nicely and are low pressure. They engage you and seem genuinely interested in you as a person, not just as a potential sale. I cannot say enough about the entire Autobarn of Countryside experience. Mike Blackburn PO Box 153 Western Springs, IL. 60558 More

Our first service appointment, new car check up I think it's called, scheduled easily and confirmed by email. Then reminded by email including a link to change the appointment if needed. We arrived on time, greeted well, told Steve about a few sample issues and he told us it would take an hour. It took 56 minutes.. close enough. The waiting area was clean, stocked and while I brought a book I found myself watching the television. The time went quickly. I'll also mention that while I was waiting I spoke with the Parts guy, Brien, as I want a cargo divider installed. Turns out they've been discontinued but Brien said he'd look for one and I've had two update phone calls on the subject (so far). Can't really ask for more then that. The Wagen was delivered back, we went over some details of the work done. I left. More
I drive past the dealership I bought my 06 Passat at and go out of my way to get to the Autobarn because the service there is fantastic. They're friendly, fair, expertly trained, responsive, and I feel like go out of my way to get to the Autobarn because the service there is fantastic. They're friendly, fair, expertly trained, responsive, and I feel like I'm a valued customer there. I can't say that about a lot of places. They shuttled me to and from work without hesitation. I've fought with previous dealers to get a one mile ride. More
We purchased our 2006 Passat at the Autobarn and have always come back there for service. At first this was a matter of convenience because the dealer was located near my place of employment and they we always come back there for service. At first this was a matter of convenience because the dealer was located near my place of employment and they were always happy to drop me off and pick me up at work. For the first few years the service consisted primarily of oil changes and regular maintenance. Although the price was not low, I always had the sense that we were being treated fairly and the staff was always friendly and informative. Because of our good experiences we continued to bring our car back even though I left my former job and it now requires a special trip to bring in the car. Among the things I particularly like is that there is little turnover among the service advisers; we're dealing with the same people we met when we first bought the car. As a result I can call them on the phone, talk to someone I know, and know that they know me and the vehicle. An example of their willingness to go 'above and beyond' occurred just yesterday. My wife was driving the car in downtown Chicago (about 25 miles away from the Autobarn) when the low oil warning message appeared on the dashboard display. She parked the car, called the Autobarn and talked to Steve. As it happens, Steve had a contact who worked close to where my wife had parked the car. Steve called his friend who picked up some oil, met my wife at the car, and added the oil for her. He would not even accept payment for the oil. I can't imagine a better example of going out of the way to help a customer. This kind of attention is typical of our experiences with the service folks at the Autobarn. I would also add that their service waiting area is comfortable, well stocked with complementary coffee and beverages, and also convenient for people who need to work while they wait for their cars. This dealership should be a a model for other dealers. Whenever I have questions, I feel comfortable calling them and they all always are helpful and or to direct me to the right place or number to call. The guys who wash cars know how I treat mine and they do exactly just that. Keep up the good work! More

The Autobarn outdoes themselves with service everytime! We purchased a 2009 Routan from the Autobarn and had it in for a scheduled 18,000 mile service appointment. Not only did the service department look at and fix the little things (oil change, tires, squeaky sliding door), but I had briefly mentioned that my steering wheel had been shaking when applying the brakes. They took it for a drive, and not only checked my brakes, but replaced not just the front, not just the pads, EVERYTHING, way ahead of schedule, completely as a courtesy to us. Everytime we are there I feel like they bend over backwards to make your experience a great one. When people mention they are thinking about buying a car, we refer them to the Autobarn, especially VW Countryside. It is a dealership like no other - absolutely unparalled, and we will continue to refer people to them. I promise, our next vehicle will be an Autobarn vehicle as well. More

The experience started sour in the beginning. I put a down payment on a vehicle and they sold in by the time I returned to do paperwork. Their service reps have attitudes and so does the receptionist/cas down payment on a vehicle and they sold in by the time I returned to do paperwork. Their service reps have attitudes and so does the receptionist/cashier. I came in for A/C service. It was about $350. The next morning I had to return and the "gaskets were leaking." Well shouldn't they have found that initially in the inspection? I returned for a tune up a few months later. Later that evening my car was misfiring and wanting to stall. "They overlooked something and had to fix it." I returned a few years later and needed a new catalytic converter, crankcase vent pipe, front right axle, new belt, dipstick (which I believe they broke in the first place), and they did a fuel system cleaming (which I wasn't told about). I paid my deductible and the differnece. A few days later, I had to return because my car was flaring during gear changes. I take it in and they tell me I need a new transmission. They call me to pick it up and I show up. It wasn't ready yet. Finally later that afternoon it was ready. I pick it up and the next day it strats flaring again. When I take it in they said I could leave it. So I said only if I get a rental. They told me since I didint have an appointment they could not cover the rental. And I would have to wait until the technician that worked on it had an open appointment. The rep was rude and gave me attitude. When I spoke to a manager, he said he was not legally responsible for anything. I would have to wait until they had an opening because it is safe to drive. I would NEVER go back or recommend any aspect of this dealerdship to anyone! More
