Liz was very patient, organized, and very friendly. She was very accommodating to me, Jason and my family. The process of buying a new car went very smoothly and if it weren't for Liz and her patience thr was very accommodating to me, Jason and my family. The process of buying a new car went very smoothly and if it weren't for Liz and her patience through email, the process would have taken much longer probably. I appreciate Liz and everyone else's help at the dealer. Thank you. I love my new car and can't wait to attend Customer Appreciation night! More
I want to mention, before you read this review, that after I wrote this, I was contacted by the General Manager, Richard, who was very apologetic and helpful (who I had not dealt with during this proces after I wrote this, I was contacted by the General Manager, Richard, who was very apologetic and helpful (who I had not dealt with during this process). He threw in a new Stormproof car cover at no charge for my troubles. I've changed my original "overall experience" to "OK" instead of "bad" as I had it in the first place. I also wish there was "maybe" option in between the "yes" and "no" for the "Would you recommend this dealer" options. The rest of this review is the original review and is based on my car buying experience from the beginning up until I received the call from Richard. I just bought a new GLI Autobahn from Autobarn of Countryside, and I absolutely love the car. I do feel like I should share the story of my purchasing experience, though. I'm a very picky car guy. So I knew exactly what I wanted and went to Autobarn of Countryside because they had one in stock that was identical to what I was looking for, down to the color and all the options. And they specifically told me that they had this car in stock. The car was in their warehouse, and it would be a couple days before they could get it to me, but I was fine with that because I had driven a GLI at another dealer before I went to Autobarn. So we agreed on a price and I gave them a deposit to hold the car for me for a couple days until they could transport it from their warehouse to the dealership. So a couple days went by, and I didn't hear anything. So I called and spoke with my salesman, who told me they didn't have the car yet, but he would check with his manager and call me back soon. I waited several hours and heard nothing, so I called him again. He then informed me that the car they sold me had been sold to someone else before I even got there to make our deal! I was furious and called the sales manager, who explained that the car was in their system when they promised it to me, and wasn't removed when it was sold to someone at one of their other dealers. I understand that mistakes happen, but they should have known this and called me way before I had to call them and find out 2 days later. So that's the first part of the story. They said they may be able to get their hands on another car, but they wouldn't know until the following Monday. So that Monday came and by the end of my workday, I had heard nothing. I emailed my salesman (again, I had to make contact), who got back to me a day later, saying that they found a car for me, but it had upgraded wheels which would cost another $1800. I was not interested. So they had to keep looking. For two weeks I tried getting information out of them about what's going on and how long they'll look for one before they just have to order one from the factory for me. I absolutely could not pry any satisfactory information out of them, and barely got any responses for any of my messages. I found the car I wanted at a dealer in another state, and told my salesman about it. I told him I was ready to buy that one because I could have it in a day (which was true. I spoke with that salesman and we agreed on a price). My salesman from Autobarn then immediately called me back and said they may have a car for me in a day. Yeah, right. I decided to wait and see what happened. I never got a call from Autobarn the following day. I had to call AGAIN. They said they couldn't get a hold of the dealer with the car they were trying to get. This went on for another week. Finally, I went in unannounced on a Saturday morning with the intention of not leaving until they either order one or give me my deposit back. I sat down with my salesman, who said they couldn't get the car and would have to order one. He left to talk to his manager for about 15 minutes. He came back and said they spoke to their VW rep, who said he could pull a car out of another dealer for me and they'd have it to me in 2 days. They were 100% sure. Why wasn't this done in the first place? I would have never heard from them and still wouldn't have the car had I not gone in unannounced that day. They even gave me a loaner Passat for those couple days to "keep my trade safe." So here's my big question. Why didn't they give me a loaner to "keep my trade safe" in the beginning, when they said they would have the car from the warehouse in a couple days? I highly suspect that they knew they didn't have the car they promised me. They also drove my new car 130 miles to get it there. I agreed on a brand new car, not one that's been on a road trip. I asked for a free car cover for all the trouble. They refused. In my line of work, we make the customer happy, even if it means losing a little money. I also would like to add that throughout this whole process, I did not receive one apology. I am extremely dissatisfied with the sales department, their communication, and their treatment of me. This just goes to show that even if the dealer has extremely high ratings and good reviews, car salesmen can never be trusted. I hope my service visits will be a lot more satisfying than my experience with the sales department. More

I ended up at this dealer kind of by chance as I was looking to test drive a used Volkswagon Beetle. Our experience was great! I ended up finding a 2009 White Beetle that was so new they had not listed looking to test drive a used Volkswagon Beetle. Our experience was great! I ended up finding a 2009 White Beetle that was so new they had not listed it online yet, and after two test drives and some negotiating, I took it home! I worked with Barbara who was very helpful, friendly, and excited about Volkswagon, which isn't always the case at car dealerships. We also worked with the finance manager who stayed until after closing to explain the details and answer all of our questions. (Thank you!) We couldn't have asked for a better experience. We had been to a few dealerships, just looking around, but this is the first one that made it an exciting and consumer-friendly experience. I would definitely recommend Autobarn Countryside to any of my friends or family! More
