It was actually a great ex "Good experience" and "car buying" are generally not in the same sentence, until my experience at Autobarn Mazda Evanston. It was actually a great experience. My sales associate was Danny Bender. Danny is very personable and enthusiastic about Mazda, but has a laid back manner about him. He was great at follow-up communications and knowledgeable about the CX-5 I purchased. He was on top of everything throughout the process and I didn't spend an entire day at the dealership like I had experienced in other places. I think from test drive to driving off the lot was a total of about 2.5-3 hours. Overall, everyone I met at The Autobarn Mazda in Evanston from Sales, Finance, and the Sales manager were all great to work with. There were no high pressure tactics and I felt at ease during the entire process. I would definitely recommend Danny and team to anyone interested in purchasing a new Mazda. More

In particular, Kalmal Suleiman is a knowledgeable car guy who transparently "does the deal" in a way that is fair to the buyer as well as the seller. Excellent Car Buying Experience After having a Honda Accord in the family for 20 years, it was time to upgrade. This was going to be my first car purchase, so I did a ton of research After having a Honda Accord in the family for 20 years, it was time to upgrade. This was going to be my first car purchase, so I did a ton of research online and with family. I made visits to Honda and Toyota locations but felt like I was being treated like just another customer. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I wasn't wowed by the cars I test drove (Accord, Civic, Camry) and I didn't feel like I was getting the best experience. I saw Mazda fit a lot of what I was looking for and at a lower price (Mazda 3, Mazda 6), so I headed to Evanston and gave it a shot. Right away, Lewis interacted with me in a way I wasn't expecting. He made it seem like I was talking to somebody I've known for quite some time, and it made me very comfortable in the dealership. During our test drives, he was incredibly helpful with any and all questions I had, made suggestions based on what I was looking for, and also managed to make it seem like I was driving around with a friend (We talked a lot about baseball, and I've already seen him at a Sox game since making the purchase). Throughout the process, if I ever had any questions, I was able to text him and got a response quickly. I'm still able to reach out about questions and I trust Lewis genuinely cares that I'm happy with the car. The car buying process was actually fun. After talking with Lewis and Jonathan Sammans, I felt like I was getting a fair deal and I was excited to drive out of there a Mazda 6 owner. While the buying process was great, there were was some weirdness with service. I bought the car and had a modification done, so I didn't drive off with it that day. I asked to make sure there would be floor mats, an owner's manual, and other basic things. When I came back to pick up the car, the one change had been made, but nothing else was added. Later, while driving, I realized the GPS card I was told I would have wasn't included either. Lewis worked with me to make sure everything was taken care of and then gave me a deal on future service as an apology. Having Lewis as my salesman made everything great. As a side note, the only time I felt pressured and slightly uncomfortable was when I was offered the extended warranty. I know they have a job to do, but I knew I had time to make a decision with picking and choosing the right car. The warranty was pretty instantaneous, and I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do. John Norton seemed to be helpful, and I appreciate some of our conversation, but it also seemed a little forceful and I wasn't entirely sure of the process. I guess I won't know for sure until I get to use what I bought or need what I didn't buy... More

I personally think the whole sales process is something to avoid like the plague. But our experience with working with this dealer and the Danny (salesperson) was good. I didn't feel pushed into buying anything, nor did well feel like our purchase was NOT the right one. We will go back to this dealer and work with Danny the next time we buy a Mazda. More
