We researched the type of car we wanted and the car buying process for several months before heading out to purchase. We were in an urgent situation because our old car had quit on us a week before (wh buying process for several months before heading out to purchase. We were in an urgent situation because our old car had quit on us a week before (which we were expecting any day). Though the pre-certified used car that we came in to buy was never shown to us, we ended up buying a new car for a price that was very close to the used. Autobarn of Evanston was convenient on the train, and though there were some odd sales tactics used from time to time, they were nothing unexpected or rude - no hard sell at all. We were happy to drive away in our new car, and Eric was very easy to work with, very nice. More
This is one the most high pressure dealerships I have ever been to. Besides not listening to anything I said and coming back with three offers at $2,000 or more over my offer (car with a stick price of $ ever been to. Besides not listening to anything I said and coming back with three offers at $2,000 or more over my offer (car with a stick price of $15k), Patreek claimed that he would perform a soft pull of my credit. Instead they did a hard pull without telling me that they would eventually perform a hard pull. After the first hour, we agreed to a price of $15,000 for a Mazdaspeed 3 (which was already more than I wanted to pay, but I went along to see where we could cut costs elsewhere). Then he came back with monthly figures. I asked for an itemized out the door price. He came back with $20,789! $1995 for the Mazda certification (never mind the point that the car was advertised as having the cert at the $15,995 ad price), $850 for Used Car Inspection, tax, title, etc. All in all, they wanted nearly $21k for a four year old car with 36k miles on it. Give me a break. One and a half hours later and he made it clear that he was not going to sell the car at the advertised price unless I got the $1995 certified warranty. When I asked for pricing without the warranty, he had a price that was only $1000 less, at $19,789. The final straw was when he finally got down to $18,500, but only for a second. The sentence went something like "Can you see the value in $18,500? This can has been inspected and all this (blah blah blah), and at $18,600 this is a good deal. So this is a fair deal, can you see the value in $18,700?" In 30 seconds this guy raised the price $200. I did not buy a vehicle here and I would never recommend buying anything from these jokers. I gave high ratings because I had a terrible experience at a different Mazda dealer. My sister lives in Evanston and I happened to be walking past the dealership. I decided to take my car and have them che at a different Mazda dealer. My sister lives in Evanston and I happened to be walking past the dealership. I decided to take my car and have them check it out. Diane was so nice. She and Carl immediately identified what was wrong with the car. I had two recalls on the car and I set up an appointment to have them repaired. Diane was very helpful. When I came to get my car everything was very smooth. More
This dealership will invent new ways to screw you. Be warned. Stay away. Far away. First, their prices are not goo on the sales end. We agreed to a car and a price but I said I needed to think about it o warned. Stay away. Far away. First, their prices are not goo on the sales end. We agreed to a car and a price but I said I needed to think about it overnight. They said, "no problem". When I returned the next day tehy wanted $1700 more because they "had time to think about it too." Ridiculous! Then, their service department screwed by girlfriend over so much I'm surprised she could walk straight afterwards. Cheap, dishonest, unscrupulous bast@rds. More
well i called 3 times to make sure that car they were advertising was still there, drove an hour in a snow storm to purchase the car and when i got there surprise surpise it was not there anymore, they s advertising was still there, drove an hour in a snow storm to purchase the car and when i got there surprise surpise it was not there anymore, they said it was sold last night. find that hard to believe since i called them before i left saying that it was still there and the guy is looking right at it. They then said the usual that they were sorry but lets try to get you into a different car that cost more money of course. They even had the nerve to tell me that i would not have liked that car since it was in huge accident witch i also asked about on the phone and they claimed it had not. It all seemed like a ploy to get me to the store. wasted 4 hours. the GM then tells me that he is very sorry and to try to get me out of the store he said he would find me a similar car and call me back. its been 2 weeks and i called back to speak to him and he said he has not had time. i know that car salesman have a bad reputation but things like this is just a ploy to get you in More
