I did not trust them and they were rude. I received two different numbers when I asked two different sales people for their best out the door number on the car I wanted. When I confronted Mike about the discrepancy, rather than be polite and try to sell me a car with a better offer (or even his initial offer), he took his initial offer off the table, and stated I "rejected" his initial offer and started from scratch because I asked another salesperson for their best offer. It speaks volumes about a dealership when they give two different numbers to the same question and their response to being confronted is to blame the customer. On a side note, they should stop dispensing legal excuses for their poor customer service. (First, Mike never made a legally enforceable offer, so there was nothing for me to reject; second, even if he did make an enforceable offer, a buyer's negotiations with a different seller-representative wouldn't constitute rejection because a buyer is free to make multiple contracts with the same large volume seller; finally, even if a buyer asked the same seller-representative if a better price were possible, that wouldn't necessarily constitute a rejection because the buyer did not pose a new price or indicate an unwillingness to accept the prior offer). John Spreine was the sales person that helped us make our recent purchase. We were not on the lot 5 minutes before he was outside in the 100+ weather, offering us cold water and being of assistance. I took it to David in the evening and he alreay had a rental car voucher waiting for me. They needed to keep my car for a few days. Unfortunately, my transmission needed to be replaced.I was very happy that I had the rental car so I could still go to work. I love David!! He always knows how to take care of his customers. Honda of Tempe is very lucky to have David as an employee. More
Contacted them via internet about a new Odyssey. They stuck to their price, but of course took out the difference on the trade in. Do your research, check autotrader online for values on your trade, deduct some because they have to deal from there, figure about 4-5K profit for the dealer combined on the deals, and you should be pretty darn close to what it'll take out the door. Like all dealers, there is the upsell at paperwork time. If you plan on keeping the car, do the longest extended HONDACARE warranty you can (8yr/120K) as a minimum. It will vary car to car, but you should plan on about $2K. Other upsells are paint protection, interior protection, tire/rim protection, keyfob protection, lojack, and probably a few more I have forgotten already. Use your best judgement, and remember you can probably buy some of these after you leave the dealer, or some items may be covered by your car insurance anyway. Finally, don't buy any accessories unless you want the dealer to install them for you (you do get the full warranty applied to those parts then - so choose wisely). Things like wheel locks (must have) you can buy online for much less money. Final word on Tempe Honda - car buying is not fun. It's just not. They did make it less painless, and they were not your typical high pressure salesmen. In this day and age, don't put up with pushy car salesmen. Do your research, then go in to Tempe Honda and buy your car. I still have pushy salesmen calling from other dealers who I won't give the time of day due to their tactics. More
I recently went in to have my air conditioner in my 2004 Odyssey not working. Of course the day I took it in it worked perfectly fine. The air was cold and blowing great. In just a moment I decided kids and all to stop in while it wasn't working unannounced so he could listen or check something I was missing to explain. I was planning on bringing it back in at a better time...it was late and I had no appt. He asked if I had time and had them check it immediately. Found the issue and found the part. I was up and running with cold air in no time. David is ALWAYS so helpful!! He never makes you feel like an inconvenience. I know his day is busy but he will always find the time for me or you! He is the best!! More
