We stopped by TV Lexus to check out the RX450H+. It was raining lightly, so we weren't interested in doing a test drive. We were greeted by Nick. He was polite, and easy to talk with. We went out to look at some of the RXs, mostly 350s, and liked what we saw of exteriors, interiors, the comfort of the seats and driving position. I told Nick we would not be purchasing that day, and would be looking at other vehicles. He replied that it was fine. He did not start in with the typical, "what will it take to put you in a car today?" We liked that he was calm, easygoing, and not at all pushy. The next day Nick emailed the inventory of RXs, and we set up an appointment for a test drive. We met up for the test drive several days later. Nick pulled the car up, handed us the keys and said it was charged and full of gas. This was the first time I went for a test drive without the salesperson going along. That was a nice touch. The RX450 was great. We thanked Nick, let him know we were not in a hurry, and would be in touch if we decided upon the RX450 after testing other vehicles. We testied the Toyota Rav4 plus (same drivetrain as the RX), and a Kia Sorrento PHEV, and decided upon the RX. I sent Nick the specs for exactly what we wanted in color, interior, and options (nori green pearl with macadamia interior). I also sent the specs for the vehicle we wanted to Riverside Lexus, and informed both dealerships that we were looking at Riverside and Temecula to get us the Lexus we wanted. For price, I found that TrueCar military pricing was the best. Riverside Lexus is a TrueCar participant, but Temecula is not. Nick assured me that his manager, Ryan, affirmed that they would honor that price. Then we waited; I expected it would be a couple of months or more. A week later, Nick emailed me that they might be able to get the RX we wanted. I told him to go for it, and Ryan worked on getting it for us, which required getting it shipped from the Bay Area, and sending them a vehicle in exchange. We went to the dealer and did the paperwork, which took way too long. The negotiations were fine; except Nick went back and forth with Ryan, when it would have been better if we all just sat down together. Regardless, it was ok since we already had the basic deal set. Then we waited and waited... we were ready to leave and just let them finish the deal through Docusign, if possible. We went to the managers station, and met Ryan and Spencer. They laughed at my lame jokes, and Ryan told us how he had managed to make a deal with the dealer up north to get us our RX450. TV Lexus only had one person who could do the final paperwork, and there were about 5 of us waiting to buy a vehicle. TV Lexus needs to be ready to sell cars, not save on payroll. We almost left. When we finally got to see the finance/paperwork guy, we met Cecilio Garcia, a Marine (once a Marine, always a Marine). I am retired Navy, so we did some Navy/Marines friendly ribbing (Jarhead vs Squid). Then Cecilio quickly got us through the paperwork and documents. Four days later, our RX450 arrived at TV Lexus. Nick made sure it was clean, prepped up, and full of gas. Then he and Dakota delivered it to our house, which is about a hour from Temecula. Dakota is the technical specialist, and he spent about an hour showing us how our new Lexus works, getting phones paired, and making sure we would be able to enjoy our new RX450. Dakota was patient, nice, and easy to get along with. He told us if we needed any help or had any questions to just contact him. I asked him for his business card, and he said he did not have any. (Mr. Rudnai, TV Lexus needs to give Dakota business cards.) Then Dakota showed us how to plug-in and charge our RX450, which was not charged; that almost lost them a star off the rating.
