Sad to read mainly negative reviews for Lawrence with Salesmans & Services. I'd just like to specify that my experience was through their INTERNET DEPT. and yes, a REAL internet dept that ACTUALLY commun Salesmans & Services. I'd just like to specify that my experience was through their INTERNET DEPT. and yes, a REAL internet dept that ACTUALLY communicated primarily via email/fax/&PhoneCalls. 09/2009 My attention was brought to Lawrence through Overstock.com's Car Site. Yes, overstock, weird huh? And thru Overstock, you get a list of GAURANTEED Low competitive quotes that is contractually binding & they CANNOT Renegotiate. So it's almost like walking in with a Buyer's Worksheet, ..almost. Keep in mind, they might not have the car (Curry Toyota had the lowest @ 23.4 but they didnt have the car, and didnt care to get it), and if there are any xtr accessories on car not specified during your Overstock Quote, they CAN charge you more for it. My Overstock quote was 23915 vs TMV 23700 vs Invoice 22700. But compared to other dealers offering 23.7 and 23.8, Lawrence was still cheapest Out-the-door after dealer fees ($8 InternetFee, 169$ doc fee, $150 NY Reg&Title) comparable to about 23600. Matt Bliffert is who I dealt with. Great guy, very friendly, frequent followups daily to let me know what was going on w/ assurance they're working on getting my car. There's another Matt there so don't get them confused. Willing to conduct paperwork via fax and email. No hard selling, just suggestions. No xx "required" options like Etching + a few more extras onthe car he didnt even bother suggested charging me since I didnt ask for it. RAV4+3rdRow in the specific color I wanted was extremely hard to find. There are at least 10 toyota dealers CLOSER to me and yet nobody was able to "find" it in the past 2 wks, yet Matt (&crew) found the car in under 24hrs after a few false positives and had it brought up to NJ 250 miles from Maryland in under the next 24hrs. with all the horror stories of relying on the dealer to "find" the car for the buyer, I was extremely nervous, but MattBliffert was extremely awesome about it. They say he was new there, so maybe he hasn't turned to one of them yet but I hope he maintains his professionalism because the day before i went to pick up from Lawrence, A friend working @ the Toyota 4 blocks from me updated me that they recently got the car we wanted willing to sell for the same price, but given Matt's dedication and friendliness in dealing w. us, we felt he deserved the sale and willing to drive an hr into Jersey w. a borrowed car to close the deal. And that was the great thing about it, the Buyer's Order signed, downpayments and forms prefilled, insurance papers verified, Finance Rate agreed upon ALL via fax, email & phone done thru-out the 3 days at my convenience, only needing to come in to sign a few quick papers in the Finance office and pick up the car. F&I Natalie was also very nice, she was obnoxious and great with our 2 toddlers being there & VERY Patient. She wasnt pushy on options, and tried to be informative though she did withhold tiny bits of info, but she never lied as far i know, after all, she's got a family to feed too, it's her job to try and sell us things we dont need, but not by lying. Again, this was an INTERNET experience, I can't comment on the Staff on the Sales Floor nor in Service. Overall, read up, be educated and sound knowledgeable when buying a car and they're less likely to try tricks with you. I hope their internet dept continues the great job so I can recommend any NY friends of mine to shop there. More
I bought my 2008 Camry at Lawrence and I got a Great Deal! The salesman was very patient and I got a very good deal on my 2008 Camry with the options package included. Sure I got the "you better buy th Deal! The salesman was very patient and I got a very good deal on my 2008 Camry with the options package included. Sure I got the "you better buy this car tonight because it won't be here tomorrow" line but I wanted to car anyway so I didn't care because I planned on buying one that night. Since I've boughten the car I've taken it in for Service (oil changes and such) and the service guys are as nice as can be. I guess with any dealership it all depends on "who" you get that day as to whether you'll have a good experience or not - for me I guess I got the right Salesman :) **One thing to watch out for though - when your doing your financing in the back, keep an eye out for the lady who tries to sell you warranties that you really don't need... Doug possessed every single negative stereotype that a car salesman has. He started out amazingly, until we didn't buy the first car he showed us. He became very RUDE, used pressure tactics, impatient, di car salesman has. He started out amazingly, until we didn't buy the first car he showed us. He became very RUDE, used pressure tactics, impatient, did not listen, and I could tell that he was desperate for a sale the minute we walked in. He pretended to not have a used car inventory list with him, he wanted us to buy a new car and be done with us. He whined and threw a fit when we didn't buy the first thing we saw. He literally drove us around the used cars at a high speed, and had us jump out of the car any time he saw something he thought he could unload on us. I was looking at the Camry, and he took us all over the board "how about this - how about that". He serisouly used every single trick in the book. Luckily, he didn't close us into a sale that day and when we got home we did reasearch on the car we were considering and found out he was witholding informaation about the car so we would buy it. I have new - the interent will tell you anything you want to know! He treated us like we were born yesterday. He actually tried to make me feel bad b/c he spent time with us. It is the nature of his job. His techiniques completely turned me off to Camrys and I will never return to that dealership for sure. He chased us away with his rudeness and arrogance. WOW he was promoted to Scion Manager. If that is what the dealership promotes in treating costumers, then I would receommend no one give them business until they start training salesman to treat their customers with respect, because most of us will come back for another car if we are happy and treated well. If you are looking for a Toyota in the area, check out Freehold. They seem to have an incredible rating. More
I bought my camry from there in 04. I think I did allright price-wise. At least better them most toyota dealers. The salesman was great, even drove me back to my house, since I needed a co-signer. ( allright price-wise. At least better them most toyota dealers. The salesman was great, even drove me back to my house, since I needed a co-signer. (He also wanted to get out for a while) So when I went to fill out the paperwork, I almost walked out. The lady wanted me to pay 200$ for window etching, and kept telling me that my car would get stolen without it. so first of all, You ALREADY have your VIN in the dash, not to mention other locations. second, you can get a kit and do it yourself for 15$. Third, they can fill it in, just like they fill in chips and cracks in the windshield. So it's a waste of money. Other than that, the service was fine. I went with my ex when she bought her suv from them in 07. The salesman let us take the car by ourselves for an hour, then we made the deal. We got in the little room, and another lady wanted to start adding things on. If we went along with everything, it would have added another 7, 300 to the price of the car. we finally had to tell her to just give it up or we would walk after 20 minutes. More
I totally agree with the previous reviewer. The sales expreience here is horrible - do NOT use Joe DiStefano unless you want someone to be very mean and disrespectful of you and your hard earned money. T expreience here is horrible - do NOT use Joe DiStefano unless you want someone to be very mean and disrespectful of you and your hard earned money. This guy and many at Lawrence take pride in beating customers up. Furthermore, they are extremely high in price unless you are willing to spend a few hours of your precious time yelling and fighting back at them. Then, and only then, will they come down in price. I cannot say anything nice about this dealership. More
I took my 01 Camry in for servicing because I had a check engine lite. My car was diagnosed, and I was informed that I had serious problems, I needed a new catalytic converter, new manifold, new fuel injecto engine lite. My car was diagnosed, and I was informed that I had serious problems, I needed a new catalytic converter, new manifold, new fuel injectors and spark plugs, and a ECM card, plus a 90000 mile service checkup totaling a whooping $3,000. I then considered my options,do I pay their price to repair my auto or take it to someone else,I chose that latter. The machanic that I took the car to informed me that the most that he could find was maybe replacing the spark plugs, as for the checkengine lite, he disconnected a battery terminal for 20 sec. and reconnected the terminal which rest the ECM card and the lite was gone, all for the total cost of 56.00. I will never again go anywhere near Lawrence, and I will be telling all my friends and family about my experience,so they can avoid this rip off dealer. More
