Took my 2017 Ford Explorer to Taylor ford in Manteno Illinois for a lift gate that would not open and the keypad on the driver side for the keyless entry had blown off for the 3rd time. After troublesho Illinois for a lift gate that would not open and the keypad on the driver side for the keyless entry had blown off for the 3rd time. After troubleshooting the lift gate, I was told the latch was bad. After installing a new liftgate latch and a new keyless entry pad. The latch still didn’t work and they cracked the new keyless entry pad during installation. Part of the vehicle is handicap modified. So they did some further troubleshooting and said that somewhere between the latch and the power for the latch was a broken wire. Due to the fact that the wire they claim was broken, is also part of the handicapped section, that they would not work on it and I would have to take my vehicle to MobilityWorks, which is a handicapped sales and service shop. During the wait to get an appointment scheduled with MobilityWorks, the clutch on my AC compressor froze up. I had my explorer towed to Taylor Ford ( because it was 100 degrees) in manteno Illinois. While it was in getting the clutch on the compressor repaired, the new keyless entry pad had come in also. They replace the compressor clutch free of charge, because that particular part was a recall. They also replace the keyless entry pad on the drivers side. After installing the keyless entry pad. The keyless entry pad would not light up. They did some further troubleshooting and found a blown fuse. They replaced the fuse and the keyless pad lit up, and the liftgate problem was fixed. I am an electrician by trade, Electrician 101 tells you if you’re having a power problem to check the fuses first. Had they properly troubleshot it and noticed there was a blown fuse, all of the liftgate problems that I went through would have been corrected! I believe further training is needed! More
