Honestly the worst experience I have ever had buying a car. They tried to quote me 150-200 higher than the car is actually worth. In Feb. 2013, we went to Hyundai of White Plains to buy a car for my daughter. We found the car and agreed on the price. My husband and my daughter signed the deposit agreement and paid $2000. Before we st car for my daughter. We found the car and agreed on the price. My husband and my daughter signed the deposit agreement and paid $2000. Before we started the buying process, we told them that we are limited of time becuase we have a plane to catch. My daughter attend school in New York and we are from California. We told them that we are going to get the money that we want to put down but first, we want to drop off our daughter at her dorm since we are running out of time. When we dropped off daughter to her dorm, we realized that we are not going to make out flight if we are going back to sign the paperworks. We called Hyundai and told them that we are not going back to sign the papers because we are running out of time and if they can just mail us the paperworks. Their reply was, "It won't take that much time and we will just have you sign the blank contract and promise you that everything will be right." We told them that it is impossible for us to make it and don't agree to sign a blank contract. Then they said, " The price won't be the same becuase the sale ends that day." We told them to cancel the sale if they don't want to send the paperworks to us. Then they called again and said,"Okay, I talked to the manager or owner (can't remember which one now) and he okay'd to have the paperworks to be sent to California but....you have to call your insurance company and have them insure the car." I told him that I am not comfortable with that becuase there is no paperwork saying or showing that I/we own the car. So, again I told him to cancel the sale. Then, they called again 2 or 3 different times in California changing the price of the vehicle that we agreed on and this time they were very rude to my husband. My husband told them that we are not going through with the sale because they don't want to honor the price that we agreed on. Also, they told us that they are not going to return our deposit. Today, I received a letter from our credit card company stating the Hyundai of White Plains is stating that the service was not canceled and their charge is valid. This is what Michael wrote to our credit card company, "Mr. Lynch is not entitled to his refund. We had an agreement to deliver the vehicle same day but the wife insisted she had to eat. They went to Westchester burger and we agreed to pay for their lunch. They came back but the father had to catch a flight and could have waited for some paperwork but left. We agreed to sent the paperwork and have the daughter come back to pick up the car. When we subsequently spoke, he said to cancel the order. Ultimately, they bought a different vehicle elsewhere after stringing us along for a day. We prepared the vehicle, had an approval. A signed buyer's order and only needed the signatures. They they reneged on the deal saying they don't want it anymore." First of all, Hyundai of White Plains did not pay for our lunch! I have a receipt showing that we paid for our lunch. Second, my husband and I had a plane to catch and could not go back to sign the contract. We were the ones who asked if they can mail the contract but they won't do it. They were the ones who were string us along. First, they said they can't mail the contract, and then they called and said they can mail it, but we have to insure the car that we don't have paperwork, and then they won't honeor the price that we agreed on! The only signed contract was the deposit and nothing else! One thing that Michael did not mention in his letter to Chase (credit card company) is the Regulation Z (Truth in Lending). It states," If you agree to assist me in obtaining financing for any part of the purchase price, this order shall not be binding upon you or me until all of the credit terms are presented to me in accordance with the Regulation Z (Truth in Lending) and are accepted by me. If I do not accept the credit terms when presented, I may cancel the order and my deposit will be refunded." Michael of White Plains Hyundai did not present us with the credit terms nor discuss it with us. We never saw the prepared contract that he was talking about. We wonder how he can prepare the contract when we he didn't know how much we are putting down! This dealership should be fined for this. My husband and I will fight this. We are referring this to our attorney and we will not back down. We ended up buying the car at Curry Hyundai. They were so much helpful and also told us that they (Hyundai of White Plains) can not do that and that they have to return our deposit! The car that we bought from Curry Hyundai is now paid off! We were ready to buy a car on Feb. 17, 2013! More
Jim was amazing to work with. He was very knowledgeable about all the cars and was very attentive to what we were looking for. First because of grossly negligent work performed by one of the so called factory trained mechanics. He used a long nose vice grip(which is the wrong tool) to block the coolant tank recovery line. But the worse part is we got the car back the vice grip still blocking the coolant tank hose and the washer fluid tank was left open and the fluid was contaminated with dirt and debris. At $120.00 per hour this is disgraceful grossly negligent work!. Second because parts were recommended that were not needed. A new battery was recommended. It did not need a battery because the battery is still within a good voltage range. I know this because I have Midtronics 500xl battery analyzer which I used to conduct a full analysis. I sent an email to Mike and want it to go to the service manager as well as the owner of the dealership and the factory. More
The dealer and the salesperson that help us were up to their promise of no hassle sale experience. Everyone was friendly and helpful. At the end we opt for leasing the car instead of buying since it was the best option for us. Their offer for leasing was also too good compared to buying.
