11/24/12 - I want to give an update on my dealings with Tameron. I was contacted by Mr. Rob Gallik, Director of Sales, this past week. He made me aware of a situation that kept him from receiving my emai Tameron. I was contacted by Mr. Rob Gallik, Director of Sales, this past week. He made me aware of a situation that kept him from receiving my emails several weeks back and apologized that it took him so long to become aware of my issues. He has restored my faith in Tameron as being a reputable dealer in Birmingham. He made no excuses and took charge of my problems and said he would take care of any issues that were missed at inspection. It did take several weeks for me to find resolution but the bottom line is that Tameron did the right thing which speaks well for this dealership that has been selling and servicing cars and trucks in the Hoover, AL area for many years. I would like to give a special thanks to Heather Lumley and Rob Gallik for their help! I do recommend Tameron Honda for your vehicle needs. ****************************************** I purchased a used truck from Tameron Used Car division back in July of 2012. At the time of purchase, I felt good about the buy because of the price of the truck and due to the fact I was told by the sales representative and manager that the truck had undergone a thorough inspection. Tameron did give me the opportunity to purchase a warranty but I declined. 3 months and 3200 miles later, I took my Toyota truck to Hoover Toyota for its first oil change expecting everything to go routine. I was shocked when the representative told me the truck needed $3500 worth of work - tires dry rotted, truck out of alignment, battery dead, water pump leaking, rack and pinion steering leaking and the tail shaft seal has fluids pouring out of it(their description). To top all of this off, I replaced the battery and discovered the clamp on the negative lead post had been rigged to stay on by the previous owner. The bolt in the lead post clamp is broken off in the clamp. I emailed Mr. Gallik, Director over new and used car sales, about these issue twice and never received a response. I realized buying a used car without a warranty is a gamble; however, when I buy a vehicle from a dealer such as Tameron and they tell me the vehicle has had a full inspection and is in good shape, I take them at their word. I also realize the water pump leaking very well may have occurred after I bought the truck but the dry rotted tires, dead battery, broken battery cable, out of alignment, and the leaking rack and pinion steering(evidence of long-term leakage based on old and new stains) should have been found and corrected at inspection. Even if Tameron refuses to help with the problems, they should have the courtesy to return my emails. I have bought two vehicles from them, but I will not use them again. To summarize my last few weeks dealing with Tameron: After several emails, I finally received a phone call from Tameron after they saw my post on DealerRater.com. This response came from Heather Lumley who has been the one person from Tameron who has been prompt with all her responses and very kind. I was told by Heather that Eric Musso, Used Car Manager would be calling me. He did leave me a message and asked me to call him for we could meet. I returned his call twice and never heard back from him. Being frustrated, Heather had Barry Butts, Director of Public Relations, call me. It took him several days and another call from me before he finally reached out to me. He and I discussed all of my issues plus he had a detailed email outlining these problems. He agreed the dry rotted tires were a safety concerned and that the battery lead post should have been discovered at inspection. He asked me if the lead post cap had a cover on it - which it did not. As for the rest of the problems, he did not say much other than buying a used vehicle always has the risk of things going wrong. He did say that Tameron does make sure all their used vehicle are inspected and safe for the road. I did ask that Tameron replace the tires and battery lead post at no charge but his best offer was for me to bring the truck in and he would offer me a discounted price on all the work including the tires. The most frustrating point of all of this is the tires and battery lead post. Tameron can definitely argue the other problems are just the risk of buying a used truck but to not be responsible for the truck leaving their lot with dry rotted tires is no excuse. Mr. Butts' excuse for the tires was that the Tameron staff are not tire experts! I did email him to say it is ironic that the tire problem was discovered at an oil change by Hoover Toyota on a routine inspection they perform on all vehicles. I guess this makes Hoover Toyota tire experts! To be fair, I had the tires inspected by Estes tires. They stated the tires were in real danger of blowing out a highway speeds. Deep cracks in the sidewalls and between the treads. So my final recommendation, do not buy a used car from Tameron! I have bought two used cars from Hoover Toyota(one with 32,000 miles an one with 125000 miles) and never had any major problems. Go to Hoover Toyota for your car needs! I hope this helps. More

Yesterday I took my wife's car to Tameron because a key was stuck in the gear shaft, the battery or alternator had gone down, and an 02 sensor needed to be replaced. I worked with Walt, the Service Manager was stuck in the gear shaft, the battery or alternator had gone down, and an 02 sensor needed to be replaced. I worked with Walt, the Service Manager, who did a fantastic job. First, Walt let me know that the key would pose no threat to the car, rather than charging us $600 to find it and remove it. Then, he confirmed that the battery, not the alternator, was our problem - resulting in more cost savings. Walt also called the place where I bought the failed battery and found out that it was under warranty - resulting in a free battery. Finally, he patiently answered my wife's questions and mine about the o2 sensor, helping us achieve a resolution to the problem. When everything was said and done, Walt could have easily charged us $1500+ for everything we thought may be wrong. Instead, Walt provided terrific customer service and fixed our car for under $100. This is how business should be done, and we will trust Tameron and Walt with any car repairs/purchases we need to make in the future. I cannot recommend Tameron highly enough. When you go, ask for Walt. John Joseph IV More
Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. During the past five years due to unfortunate circumstances and a poor economy my family has become financially in the lower class of americans, and consequ the past five years due to unfortunate circumstances and a poor economy my family has become financially in the lower class of americans, and consequently have had to suffer the frustrations that are typically inherent with having to rely on "clunker" vehicles. So recently, when we finally had received a substantial financial settlement, I decided that a wise investment with the bulk of our settlement would be to buy a reliable vehicle for our family which reasonably speaking should last us for the next ten years or until the Lord calls us out of this world. For several weeks I did intensive research for a suitable vehicle and eventually narrowed down my search to buying a Honda Pilot. I recommend anyone who is searching for a vehicle to check out the many expert reviews about the Honda Pilot...or about any other Honda vehicle! I went on www.autotrader.com and searched for a Honda Pilot within a 200 mile radius of my zip code. At first I had selected to search for vehicles being sold from private sellers only. I was apprehensive of buying a vehicle from a used car dealership because I know of many friends over the years who have purchased "lemons" from used car dealers, and it seemed like to me that since used car dealers are in the business of selling vehicles, that many of them might be dishonest about what they are selling, in order to make the sale. However, I finally decided to see what the dealerships within my range offered, and then I researched about their respective business. When I found a vehicle of interest for sale at Tameron Honda in Birmingham, Alabama. I was exceptionally impressed and encouraged by what my research revealed about the business history and practices of the dealership. I even called Tameron Honda and spoke with Gina Schoening, the Internet Consultant for the dealership. I expressed my apprehension about purchasing a vehicle from a dealership, and she was very understanding, patient, and attentive to all my concerns. The information she provided me with about the professional business standards and practices of Tameron Honda in regards to their used car sales really impressed me to consider buying a vehicle from them and researching more about their business. I realized that Tameron Honda is not just another disreputable car dealership, but a dealership of outstanding business history and reputation and excellent standards and practices. Furthermore, I appreciate that I was buying my Honda Pilot from a Honda dealership! I also realized that there are significant advantages to purchasing a used car from Tameron Honda rather from a private seller. The 2004 Honda Pilot which I purchased from them had been thoroughly inspected by their expert Honda mechanics to ensure that it was completely mechanically sound. It also came with a Lifetime Warranty on the engine! Anyway, after an exhaustive search to find the choice vehicle for my family, I finally narrowed it down to to several candidates including a 2004 Honda Pilot from Tameron Honda. I contacted Tameron Honda about it and was attended by a salesman named Eddie McClain, aka; the "man with the hat"! In addition to providing me with alot of pertinent information on the vehicle he also produced for me a personal video of the vehicle which he played the starring role in, and sent it to my email. But the bottom line became an issue of my budget. I made an offer for the vehicle which was substantially lower than advertised and he said he would get back to me about it after talking with his supervisors. The next day he declared to me his astonishment that Tameron Honda had agreed to my offer! I had prayed about it, and I know that the Lord made it happen. I also think that Mr. McClain and I had talked about my personal situation, and that he had sincerely wanted to help me get me the best deal possible and surely did whatever he could to satisfy me. To make a long story short, because I have to go somewhere right now...we purchased the 2004 Honda Pilot from Tameron Honda, and drove away completely satisfied, pleased and glad that I had taken the time to do the exhaustive research about it, and above all put my trust in the Lord to direct my path to it. I had a quote from another dealer that was very good. I called Tameron Honda to see if they would be interested in matching a price. After giving them the specific price, I was assured by the internet sal called Tameron Honda to see if they would be interested in matching a price. After giving them the specific price, I was assured by the internet sales person that they would match it, just come on in. I came in, and after an hour of waiting around, I was told there best offer was 1,000 more. The salesperson I dealt with, John Hall, was very nice about it. I assume it wasn't his fault. lt was annoying to waste so much time, but not enough to not recommend this dealer. However, while I was waiting around, I overhead a salesperson, Simeon Williams, with an elderly woman and her daughter buying a car. After getting the quote, they said they wanted to go and get their trade-in car, and would return after lunch. He then asked them to pick him up a sandwich while out. They were clearly uncomfortable with it, but he was so insistent, they agreed. He said he wasn't going to have a lunch break that day and wouldn't be able to have anything without there help. After they left, he told the story to a co-worker, and started laughing as he pulled his lunch out from behind his desk. He then went around offering his lunch to other co-workers. He clearly was just trying to make sure an easily-influenced buyer would return. What an unethical salesperson. I will never be back to Tameron Honda. More
The true measure of a car dealer is not only measured by how they handle things when everything goes right, but how they handle things when issues arise as well. I recently purchased a 2012 Pilot from Tame how they handle things when everything goes right, but how they handle things when issues arise as well. I recently purchased a 2012 Pilot from Tameron. A couple of issues came up during the process and they handled everything extremely well. My wife and I very particular we insisted that our new car be flawless on delivery. Dwayne Richardson went out of his way to make sure the car met our expectations. He talked with us after hours and has followed up numerous times to be sure our needs were met. I have been a customer of the service department at Tameron for years. I had to return to the dealer a couple of days after the purchase to address a minor issue with the car. Blake and Zach in the service department are top notch. I got there a little late in the day and being very busy they were not able to get to the car that day. John Hall got a loaner car for me with no problem. I appreciate the folks at Tameron going out of their way to make sure we are happy. They have a great sales team, a great service department and their price is the lowest in town too. What more could you ask for? More
