Attempted to purchase used 2008 XTERRA from used car sales agent Christopher Tobias trade in of well maintained 2008 TITAN purchased 3 years earlier from this very same dealership, Tamaroff Southfield. sales agent Christopher Tobias trade in of well maintained 2008 TITAN purchased 3 years earlier from this very same dealership, Tamaroff Southfield. Trading vehicle for better gas mileage. Requested assistance from original sales agent, Ray Choi who negotiated TWO CASH sales for 2008 Titan and 2009 Rogue - 3 years prior. Visiting dealership for routine maintenance for 2009 Rogue walked over to Sales to talk w Ray Choi. Not busy - lol, no customers, sales agents sitting around - no interest whatsoever in greeting or assisting us. Had to walk to information counter and request permission to speak w sales agent Ray Choi. Told Ray we wanted him to negotiate sale of used 2008 Xterra, Ray Choi agrees - states he will do all he can. No mention at this time about any rules preventing New sales agents from selling Used vehicles. It's ONE dealership - Tamaroff Southfield. Went home confident that we would once again be treated w fairness, dignity, and respect. Everything we enjoyed 3 years ago when we purchased our Titan and Rogue. Need to let you know how positive our experience was 3 years ago. Tamaroff Southfield Service Department deserves a 5 Star Rating. Service Dept remains prompt and professional. Make an appointment, bring your car in, they are glad to see you. Authentic, genuine !!!!! SERVICE !!!!! comfy chairs in the waiting area (great for naps), free popcorn, extremely friendly service dept staff. Free car wash and once they gave me a free gallon of gas when I drove in nearly on empty. I would jump out of my car when I arrived and tell them how much I loved bringing my car in for service. It was like visiting old friends - this is not from frequent visits for poor performance but from scheduled appts for routine preventative maintenance. Well, the honeymoon is over. Calls and msgs after the initial outreach to Ray Choi went unanswered. Called Ray Choi's manager, Mike Valatico to ask why Ray wasn't returning calls. Called from work, limited availability to speak on the phone. New Car Sales Manager Mike Valatico informed me new car sales agents CANNOT negotiate deals for Tamaroff Southfield used vehicles. This was informed in a heated, escalated manner - like squashing a fly w a fly swatter. Tried to tell Mike Valatico I could not take his call right now - he informed me "you are going to listen to me". I couldn't believe my ears. These were the same people who so willingly sold me TWO great vehicles three years ago? No dignity, no respect, rude, escalated to a RETURNING customer. Time to explore other options with other dealerships. Went to Dick Scott Nissan in Canton near where I live and work. Told them right off the bat exactly what had happened at Tamaroff Southfield, let them know we had inked a deal, paid money, and turned over our title but we had NEVER TAKEN DELVY OF THE VEHICLE, the 2008 Xterra. Was assured by Dick Scott Nissan Gen Mgr that as long as we had never taken delvy of the vehicle the sale was null and void. They said it happens all the time in car sales - it's called a deal gone bad. Sounds simple enough. From this point forward Tamaroff Southfield became extraordinarily abusive. We were threatened with a lawsuit. The addons requested at time of negotiation - blue tooth capability and an MP3 plug in which were quoted to cost the dealership $345 mushroomed to $499 and Tamaroff Southfield KEPT THE $499. We waited 10 days for return of our title and $2401 of the $2900 we had put toward the 2008 Xterra. The enhancements will make the vehicle more valuable to future customers but we paid for them. Tamaroff will not return the full $2900 we put toward the 2008 Xterra. OBTW, calls to Tamaroff General Manager Roger Lowe went un-returned. His staff repeatedly transferred our calls back to Sales Mgr Mike Valatico. Ouch!!! More abuse, more persecution. In short...Nissan makes GREAT vehicles, Tamaroff Southfield has a STELLAR Service Dept (I will miss them) but purchase your vehicles elsewhere. You will lose your money and your sanity negotiating to purchase. Expect to pay Tamaroff Southfield about $500 to buy your vehicle someplace else. Respectfully (LOL, VIDA BARTKUS (MRS. JOHN CHRISTIE) P.S. It's been 10 days and Tamaroff Southfield asked me to re-write my review. Hopefully this one pleases them enough that they will return my $499. More
They were great! They told me about the stabilerizer links that needed to be changed. They were very curtious and I got my car washed & vacuumed which was a very nice service which I didn't get in Maryl links that needed to be changed. Not sure of names of people, but everyone was very nice. I have had positive experiences with the service dept thus far. Appreciate being able to use a coupon to lessen the cost.
