car lease - Follow up to my lease return experience Update January 2018: Too good to be true. The experience of returning the vehicle and re-leasing another here seemed too easy - and unfortunately was Update January 2018: Too good to be true. The experience of returning the vehicle and re-leasing another here seemed too easy - and unfortunately was too good to be true. To start it all off I originally received various calls from the salesperson ten days prior to the actual original lease expiration date asking me to come in, return my old vehicle at the dealership and look around for a new lease. I was reassured countless times by the salesperson that it was common practice to bring the car in to the dealer (even 2 days early) and leave with another if we chose to lease again with them... made sense, especially to someone who had never leased before. This plus the fact that the salesperson told us that this was the normal process and of course not imagining that an organization who deals solely in the sales and leasing of vehicles could get this part wrong, made me feel like this was how it was done. I turned the car in after negotiating details on the usual stuff and was told that the car was now the responsibility of the dealership and I need not worry about it ever again. Off I went in my new leased car. Too easy. Two months later, I get a letter from Ally Financial telling me I may owe $14,000 in early termination fees and another saying I owed almost $400 and this would affect my credit. Dealing with Ally was another awful experience (talk about being treated like a criminal) Bottom line- Beware when you are turning in your old lease even if its to the dealer and even if you are leasing another vehicle from the same place! To their credit I sent an email to the sales manager (Harry Panosian) and he was immediately responsive. Hopefully this will be resolved- updates to come - although it never should have happened to begin with. Old review: Great experience working with Patrick on our new car lease...recommend working with him.. felt like he really worked with us on getting best deal for our situation. More
