Mr. D'Amico called me in less than 5 minutes and engaged me in a very informative phone conversation. The other dealership took 45 min to call me and then just offered to email me a quote. My decision which dealership to visit was easy to make. Mr. D'Amico and Mr. Castro were very professional, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. Nobody likes parting with their hard earned money. The staff at Sutherlin made me feel welcomed and went out of their way to ease the anxiety of spending a lot of money. I got a fair deal and would not hesitate to do business with this dealership again and will highly recommend this dealership to anyone that will listen. More

He was extremely knowledgeable, he was kind, and he knew how to make me feel extremely comfortable and at home when going through the process of buying my new car. I came in just wanting to look (after shopping around quite a bit) and he had me in and out the door with a smile on my face. I never felt like I was being taken advantage of and I never felt like I was just another sale on the books. He, as well as the other employees, made me feel like I was part of the Sutherlin family once I walked in and it has truly made me rethink ever wanting to shop anywhere else. I love my 2014 Rogue SV and I will never go anywhere else to car shop. More

After speaking on the phone with Jim Mattingly, he convinced me to visit the dealership to look for a new car. I told him I wanted a a car with better gas mileage and the same payment I was making no convinced me to visit the dealership to look for a new car. I told him I wanted a a car with better gas mileage and the same payment I was making now after I traded my car in. He said coming in for an appraisal would be the first step and he was sure they could make it work and to ask for him or Travis when I arrived. I arrive an hour later and was greeted by Lou Defabrizio. I asked for Jim or Travis and was told Jim was already gone for the day, but Lou said he was willing to help Travis out by helping me. I sat down with Lou and told him everything I was looking for (trade my car in for one with better gas mileage while keeping my payments the same). He ran my credit and then asked to do an appraisal of my car. Now this is where it starts getting interesting.... He and I walked up to my car together (I insisted that no one look at my car without me being present). He opens my car door, pulls the VIN, gets the actual miles, and he's done. He then escorts me to the waiting room and tells me to help myself to donuts and bagels while he "runs the numbers". There were 0 bagels and 0 donuts to be had. Not really a big deal because I wasn't there for food anyway, but not very cool to offer me something when it's not really available. In fact, there wasn't a single refreshment offered. They did have a TV there, however. Anyway, about an Episode of Family Guy later, Lou comes back and brings me into an office to tell me that the news is not good, and the best he could do after looking at my car and running the numbers with the trade, was getting me in a new car for about 50 dollars more per month (putting me at about 320 dollars a month). I said I was comfortable with the extra 50 dollars if it meant significant savings in gas mileage. I asked for a test drive on a Hyundai Accent which was advertised 37 HWY MPG and a Toyota Yaris which he recommended. He said he'd be right back with the keys and that I should have a seat in the waiting room. About 10 minutes later he comes back with another employee and passes me off to him, stating that he was really busy and could no longer help me, but that I was in good hands with this guy. Unfortunately, this person was not wearing a name tag so I didn't get his name, but he told me he is new there (just started 3 days ago) and came from Ford, so for the purpose of this review I'll call him NEW GUY. NEW GUY greeted me and said he was going to get the Yaris for me first and to hang tight while he pulled the car around. During the 20 MINUTES I spent waiting for him to "pull the car around" I saw him walking around the dealership, talking to several coworkers, before finally coming to me and apologizing for the delay and explained to me that he couldn't find the keys. He escorted me to the Yaris and we went for a test drive. I asked him several questions about it, such as "what's the actual gas mileage?" and "where's the USB/Auxiliary input?" He couldn't answer any of my questions. He had to google the gas mileage on the car we were driving on his phone. As I was testing everything inside the vehicle I turned the air on and noticed a REALLY foul stench. I pointed it out to him and he says "yeah it smells like cheese doodles, I thought you brought cheese doodles with you." And that was the end of it. No guess as to what was causing the smell or any solution offered at that point. We arrive back at the dealership and NEW GUY says "ok let's do the numbers." I reminded him that I wanted to see the Hyundai Accent as well, but at this point it was too late to do a test drive for me so I was happy with just taking a look at it and testing out the features. NEW GUY claims he'll be right back with the keys and we could take a look at the accent. A few minutes later he comes back with another man who claims to be a sales manager. His name escapes me and is also not on the list of names available. Rather than mention the Hyundai AT ALL, he says "so I hear you have a problem with the smell in the Yaris. That's just the air filter, we can change that for you no problem." And then he leaves. NEW GUY says, "So how about them numbers?" At this point I'm really confused. I'm thinking "What happened to the Accent?" But I just agree to see the numbers. NEW GUY Says to me "Ok we just need to do an appraisal on your car now." At this point I'm ANNOYED. I'd been in this dealership for hours now. I explained to NEW GUY that Lou had already done this "appraisal" and told me I'd get about 6,300 for my car. NEW GUY said verbatim, "That's nice, but MY manager has to do an appraisal now. Can I have your keys please?" I very politely told him no, that he could not have my keys, but I would go with him to get this appraisal done while I watched. He said that was fine and he started to walk away. I hesitated for a second, unsure if I was supposed to follow him or not, but I decided that I should be following him. I follow him into an office with a bunch of other guys sitting at this long desk. NEW GUY is talking to LAZ LOPEZ about me, bad mouthing me to him while making fun of my credit score. They have a laugh about my credit score, and then Laz notices I'm behind NEW GUY and says "hey there can I help you?" I responded with "Oh no it's okay I'm just the guy you're talking about." Laz's Jaw dropped. I could tell he didn't know what to say. NEW GUY didn't even turn around when he realized I was behind him the whole time. I stared forward until Laz broke out of his speechlessness and said "ok let's get that car looked at." We started walking to my car to get it "appraised" once again, and I very calmly asked Laz if talking xxxx about your customers was how they stayed in business. Laz immediately responded with "that wasn't me man it was him, I'm really sorry about that, I'll talk to him." He then went on to explain to me that he was new and didn't know any better but reassured me a second time that those two were gonna have a talk about the way he speaks about other people. We approach my car and Laz takes a quick peek at my tires, opens the door to my car looks inside and then he's done with his "appraisal". On the way back inside, he apologizes again and offers me a new salesman. I told him I just wanted to get what I asked for 3 hours ago (better gas mileage, same payment or better) and Laz assures me he's going to personally work on this deal and he'd get right back to me and instructs me to have a seat at a desk. And guess who shows up 10 minutes later? NEW GUY. "Hey my friend we got the numbers for you." He sits down at the desk, big smile as if he's about to do me a huge favor. He says my car was valued at 5,500, and after trade in he could get me in the smelly Yaris for only 380 a month!! Now, just a reminder, I'm currently paying 270 and was told by Lou (THE FINANCE MANAGER) that he could get me in at 320. I immediately said NO to the deal, explaining to him that he made me go through this circus twice and twice now I'm getting different numbers, and 380 was simply too high. He responded by saying "what about 350?" I immediately said no once again and that I wasn't going to budge beyond the 50 dollars extra a month I was offered hours ago. So finally he says "so if I go back that and tell them 320, you'll do business with us?" At this point I didn't even want to be in his presence anymore so I said "If you come back with 320 I'll have a serious think about it." He says to me he won't go back there without a commitment at 320 otherwise he won't waste his time. I then explained to him that I was extremely annoyed with the difference in trade in value from one person to another within the same dealership, and also that he really turned me off with the xxxx talk about me. He GRINNED and said "What do you mean? What did I say?" I told him I was behind him the entire time he was bad mouthing me and making fun of my credit score and he said "Oh come on, you weren't supposed to hear that. That's just me hanging out with the guys in the office." His response was SHOCKING to me. I told him that his behavior was simply unprofessional and he said "Listen, I'm sorry you had to hear that, okay?" Worst. Apology. Ever. I responded by saying "Like I said, if you come back at me with 320 a month I'll have a serious think about it, but right now that's all I can promise." He knew I was annoyed with him. He said "Ok I'll try for you." And he walked away. This is when I realized that he thinks he's invisible to customers around him. HE STOPPED HALFWAY TO THE OFFICE AND MADE A CIRCLE AROUND TO COME RIGHT BACK TO ME. HE HADN'T SPOKEN TO ANYONE! "Ok so listen I talked to them and at 350 they're really not making any money off you so that's the lowest they're willing to go. Take it or leave it." I thanked him for his time and told him that we do not have a deal. And just as he got up I said "OH by the way, one more thing." I handed him a coupon that the Sutherlin website had offering a 25 dollar prepaid visa gift card just for visiting the dealership. He looked at it and said "sure I'll turn this in for you." I'm supposed to get the gift card in the mail in about a week. I'll just hold my breath until it comes... This was the ABSOLUTE worst experience I've EVER had at a car dealership. NEW GUY is the definition of a used care salesman stereotype. xxxx, he's WORSE if you ask me. He should be FIRED. Everyone else was friendly enough but just not very helpful. I still want to know what happened to the Hyundai. Don't ever do business with this place unless you want your personal information being shared with everyone when they think you aren't looking. Or if you want to be tossed around from person to person. Or if you want to be completely ignored when you ask for something specific. More
New Titan Pro-4x Aaron did a great job finding me the perfect truck. He was very attentive and knowledgeable on the test drive. He also wasn't pushy when I said I want Aaron did a great job finding me the perfect truck. He was very attentive and knowledgeable on the test drive. He also wasn't pushy when I said I wanted to look at one more vehicle before I made my decision. I came back the next day to pick up my new Titan. Susan helped with the paperwork as they were so busy. They worked really hard as this was my first new vehicle purchase and we had some financing hurdles to clear. They got me a top of the line truck around the payment I asked for. They found a way when other dealers couldn't. The lifetime warranty, great new facility, and amazing staff are all bonuses. Plus I won a cruise off the big wheel spin after getting the keys to my new truck. What else can I say, if you don't buy from Sutherlin then you didn't get the best deal or service. More
