Great deal, scam and intimidation. Got a great deal on a used car at Sundance Chevrolet near Grand Ledge. As it turns out, after seven days, the air conditioning quit working. Got a great deal on a used car at Sundance Chevrolet near Grand Ledge. As it turns out, after seven days, the air conditioning quit working. We brought it back in for service. Because it was under a 30 day warranty, no charge for the service and reassured us that they found a leak. SCAM: Sadly, the air conditioning went out again after about 40 days. At the same time we were starting to have problems with the brakes. Sundance pointed out that our car was no longer under the 30 day warranty and we will be charged for the repairs. They they provided us a free estimate to repair the brakes at $1500. I declined that service feeling that it was too much money to be repaired. The air conditioning was repaired for $550 saying again they “took care of the leak”. After another 35 days, the air conditioning went out again. We were very frustrated. After making our feelings known, it was decided to bring it down one more time to see if they could find the problem at no charge. And this time, Sundance said, “we did find another slow leak“. As per usual with a scam, Sundance wanted to charge us again, this time double, $1100! Of course we said no and went down to pick up the car and to take it home. When I got there, there was a bill for $176! Naturally, I was quite surprised and alarmed. So much so, that I protested at the cashier window about the charge. To help clear up the matter, an assistant manager, named Chad, walked up to the cashier window to explain the charges to me. I repeated my stance that this was supposed to be a no charge visit since it was not repaired properly for the second time. Sadly, Chad had no appreciation for the art of conversation. His only words were, “You pay for the service, or we keep your car!” What do you say to that? I was outraged! All they were supposed to do was look at the car to see if they could fix it. I made it loudly clear, in front of the cashier window that I was not going to pay any more money for their service. INTIMIDATION: It wasn’t long before four men were in front of me with my back to the cashier window. Chad, the assistant service manager, Mike Verplanck, (Who says he’s a service writer?), a representative from the sales floor, and the service manager, Rian. I found Rian’s personality to be much more of a bouncer for a tavern than someone responsible for Customer Service. All of them were effectively blocking my exit if I wanted to leave. As if to say, pay or else!! I’m 68 years old. I’m not that much of a threat. However, all I could do was smile, and say, “I’m not afraid of you, and I’m still not paying!” It was at this moment that I noticed Rian’s lip was starting to quiver, telling me he was emotionally getting into this argument. Finally, Mr. Hanks showed up from lunch and snuck into his office with all of us standing outside his door. He never joined us, but I made sure he could hear every word about how disappointed and frustrated we were with his business. After hearing enough, he dropped the service fee for $176. I was allowed to take our car back after about an hour. They still owe us for a $550 repair which was never fixed. I got the brakes and air conditioning repaired by reputable business for half of the cost that Sundance attempted to charge us. It made us wonder how many other people have been scammed by Sundance Chevrolet. It’s obvious they don’t do this all the time, but from what we can tell, they pick their battles where they feel they can get away with it! Beware! More

AVOID SUNDACE AT ALL COSTS!!!! Was told by my sales AVOID SUNDACE AT ALL COSTS!!!! Was told by my sales rep. I could bring purchased vehicle back to complete the promised and already paid for servic AVOID SUNDACE AT ALL COSTS!!!! Was told by my sales rep. I could bring purchased vehicle back to complete the promised and already paid for services to be compete. After wasting the time to drive to the dealership (after multiple reschedules) I am told after being made to wait an hour or so that the services cannot be completed in the 4-5 hours I was told by my sales rep and that they would at least take a day. With rain rolling in possibly 2 days. Was forced to "reschedule" yet again as I needed a vehicle for work and to get my mother to health appointments. I Quote the reschedule because I was assured that Jay from Service had to contact the Sales Rep I dealt with to set up the new time for service, etc. He never contacted the sales rep (according to the sales rep) and I was left without answers for days. I finally took matters into my own hands and contacted sales rep. that is when I learned that Jay never bothered to bring him up to speed. At this point in time my service has STILL not been completed. Not even the hub cap put on that was in the shop the day I was there and had to leave for this false advertisement time fiasco. More
On Dec 7th, we took our 2009 Tahoe in for a Check Engine and Oil Pressure light. The oil pump was the main repair and although the warranty covered most of the repairs, we still had to pay almost $1000. It and Oil Pressure light. The oil pump was the main repair and although the warranty covered most of the repairs, we still had to pay almost $1000. It is because of the warranty that I think our service was so disgraceful and unprofessional. This review covers an eight week period of terrible experience with Sundance and I had to cut a lot of it out to accommodate the character limit. The first repair wasn’t a bad experience. We got a Chevy Cruz for a rental. By Friday of that week, our car was ready and my wife returned the rental car and drove the Tahoe out of the shop. Two miles away, the Oil Light came on again and she drove it back. We were able to use the rental again, but hoped the repairs wouldn’t take longer than another week; my wife and I read through the warranty coverage agreement and a rental car is covered by our warranty company up to $40/day for 6 days. Two weeks later, on Dec 16th, with no customer contact, I called for updates and whether or not our rental coverage was extended by the warranty company. I was told they were waiting on the warranty company. A week later, on Dec 23, still without a call, I called again and asked for an update and about rental coverage. Two weeks later, on Jan 11th, 2021, still without a call from Jay, I called and asked for an update. Jay said that he was waiting on a code from the warranty company, but that our Tahoe will be ready to picked up two days later, on Wednesday. Saturday, Jan 16th, no calls from Jay or a manager. At this point, it had been in the shop a total of 41 days. Our rental car agreement had been expired for over a month. I called Sundance and talked to a manager. The following Monday, on Jan 18th, I finally received two phone calls from Jay who said that Sundance and the warranty company were going back-and-fourth on rental car charges and that they came to the agreement that we would only have to pay $100 (we would have returned our rental before the six days were out). That evening, I returned our rental and picked up our Tahoe. The following day, Jan 19th, 5 miles down the road, another service message came on saying that the Hybrid System needed to be serviced. We immediately drove it to Sundance Chevrolet for the third time. Jay said he would give me a call and let me know what the problem was as soon as possible. Before I left, I asked if I needed to sign any paperwork. Jay said that he would take care of it and that paperwork wasn’t necessary. That afternoon, I noticed a large puddle of oil on my driveway underneath where the Tahoe sat for the night. A week later, on Jan 26th, no updates, no estimates or quotes, and with still no word from Jay, I gave him a call. He said that our vehicle was done and was “ready to be picked up at any time”. Jay said there would be no charge due to it being a leaky hose and that it was “more than likely their mistake”. The next day, Jan 27th, my wife picked up the Tahoe. There is still a leak. I also noticed that there was a greater amount of miles on the odometer than what I remember the Tahoe had. They had put 64 miles “test-driving” it. No manager could explain that. They also didn't air up the tires which were still 10-20psi below where they should have been (the manager said this was from the cold weather...). We took our Tahoe to a mechanic shop in Perry and they said everything Sundance worked on had a "healthy" leak of coolant and oil. They ended up replacing almost everything. Thankfully, they took multiple pictures of the work done by Sundance and said it was all human error. They also found a bolt in the bottom of the oil pan that didn't even belong to our Tahoe engine. We filed a complaint through the State who sent an agent out to Sundance. We wanted $1400 from Sundance to cover the bill from Classic Auto--a more than fair settlement. They offered $500 and only if we took this review down. The manager couldn't understand why we didn't bring the Tahoe back in for the oil and coolant leaks. They have flagged this review on Google which is why I have come here to post now. More
