I purchased a 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid from Sugar Loaf Ford for $16,997 in April 2024 from salesperson Joe. Just 34 days later, at only 62,852 miles, the transmission failed—conveniently just outside the Ford for $16,997 in April 2024 from salesperson Joe. When I reached out to Sugar Loaf Ford for assistance, I was met with more than just indifference. After making a sizable down payment, I needed time to save for the transmission repair—a situation many can relate to. Sugar Loaf Ford, however, showed no empathy. Instead, they demanded I move the vehicle off their lot or pay storage fees on top of the repair bill. To add insult to injury, they quoted me $7,526.99 for the repair in June 2024, promising the quote would be honored for 365 days. Fast forward to January 2025, and they suddenly claimed the cost had risen to $8,071.79—an additional $545. Of that amount, $410 was labor! This kind of bait-and-switch pricing is unethical and shows a complete disregard for customer trust. Sugar Loaf Ford clearly treats used car buyers like second-class citizens. They happily take your money, but a month later when issues arise with a vehicle their service department “inspected”, you are on your own. Their refusal to honor written commitments and their predatory business practices prove they value profits over people. Fortunately, my father stepped in and brought a 2001 Toyota with 227,000 miles here. He was able to ensure in his barn, with his own well-loved tools, that I would have reliable transportation. This is a service Sugar Loaf Ford could not provide for $17,000. After this experience, I no longer question my father’s philosophy of buying reliable, well-maintained vehicles outright. 2 Conclusions: 1. Don’t step foot in Sugar Loaf Ford unless you plan to buy their extended warranty. 2. I like the Toyota. I appreciate the peace of mind that comes with purchasing one. There’s a Dahl Toyota just across the highway. I’ll be taking my business to Dahl, and if they treat me fairly, I might just buy my next car there. More
