This is the third CX model of Mazda that we have owned and also had two 626 models. We would recommend Zack to anyone. More
Average Dealership/Brand Dealership experience wasn't terrible, but it wasn't special either. Emailed a salesman named Zack to schedule a test drive but he never responded. Dealership experience wasn't terrible, but it wasn't special either. Emailed a salesman named Zack to schedule a test drive but he never responded. A sales rep named Shira notified me that Zack was no longer at the dealership but that she could schedule a test drive for me; when I replied to her email, she too, never responded (first strike). Second displeasure was the dealership itself. The already cramped Mazda building was being renovated which means everything except the service department was housed inside the adjacent Audi dealer; they're doing the best they can while renovations are being completed, but the logistical setup inside & out (constricted parking) was a bit whacky. I was setup on the test drive by "Z" Amhaz, who I believe may have been one of two Mazda sales people at the Audi dealer. I won't rate my experience w/her because the extent of our interaction was Z explaining a few things about the car before the test drive & then asking me if I wanted to discuss numbers after. She seemed decent enough in the 30 seconds I spoke to her. The most underwhelming aspect of my experience at this dealership, however, was the actual Mazda3 & its exorbitant price. I walked in w/the intention of negotiating the high price of the 2020 Mazda3 (after a test drive) as I had plenty of information on the dismal YTD sales (being outsold 6-1 by Honda Civic & Toyota Corolla) of the compact sedan and the "true dealer cost" of the vehicle (dealer invoice, factory invoice, "hold-backs" etc.), but decided to hand "Z" the keys and not discuss numbers after the test drive showed the Mazda3 to be a slightly above-average compact sedan. The car was nice - agile handling, decent engine, quality interior materials - but I wouldn't pay almost two-grand more than the price of the class-leader (Honda Civic) for just "nice." Here's my insight for prospective Mazda3 buyers... Although I didn't have a great experience, the biggest issue is not so much w/this dealership as it is w/the decision-making from Mazda executives here in the U.S. and Japan. Over the last few years, Mazda has attempted to elevate their profile from a conventional automaker to a luxury brand by retooling their vehicles & raising the MSRP to offset the new "premium quality" of those vehicles; but most consumers in the compact market - the folks who buy compact cars because of affordability, not premium quality - have soundly rejected the Mazda3 for less expensive sedans, just as wealthier buyers have disregarded the "3" in favor of a genuine luxury vehicle. If affluent car buyers want a compact luxury car, they wouldn't look to the compact class to get one - they would (and do) pony-up for a small 'Beamer,' Audi, or similar premium car because money isn't a deciding factor. I understand what Mazda is trying to do...create a niche group to justify a false premium "status" & the eyebrow raising prices on their low-selling cars, but there simply isn't a market for an overpriced sedan - the idea itself is a paradox, & one that has decimated Mazda3 sales for years. Although the "3" is a nice car, if Mazada doesn't make a deliberate decision on the brand status one way or another, this pricing purgatory will likely force them to discontinue the Mazda3 sooner than later. My advice: if you want a class-leading compact sedan (or coupe or hatch) with unrivaled performance, a stylish exterior and a reasonable price, do yourself a favor and test drive the new Honda Civic - I promise it'll be worth it. And if you're dead-set on getting the Mazda3 (and have the extra couple grand to do so), I would suggest shopping at a larger dealership like Ralph Thayer Mazda in Livonia. Hope this helps! More
