Horrible Experience I am legitimately surprised at the horrible experience that I had at the Suburban Ford Used Car department. I bought a used car that was a 2011 with o I am legitimately surprised at the horrible experience that I had at the Suburban Ford Used Car department. I bought a used car that was a 2011 with only 37,000 miles on it. It was supposedly ‘certified’ but at this point, I’m not even sure what they mean by that. Before I was even able to drive it, the exhaust system had to be fixed. Once it was fixed, I was assured that this was a quality vehicle. I denied the additional coverage because it was extremely expensive- more than my car payment would have been- but I was assured that if anything happened with the car anytime soon that they would take care of me by the salesman I worked with. After having the car for only 45 days, my car broke down on the side of 696. It turned out the the rear catalytic converter had MELTED. I had my car towed to the dealership under the assumption that they would do the right thing and take care of me, but they did not. They offered ‘cost’ price to fix it, but that still neared $1000, which is more than I can afford. I called another shop, Ferndale collision, and they were able to fix it for $350 dollars. When this happened, I spoke with Mike, the lead in the service department and asked if this would affect the two other catalytic converters. He told me they were not related to each other and that there was no way of knowing. Two days later, my engine light turned on again. I was then told at Ferndale Collision that they ARE all working together and since my rear converter went out, my front converter was picking up the slack and failing. I once again called Suburban and spoke directly with Brad the Used Car Manager, Mike in Service AND Pat the general manager. They once again blew me off and told me that they would charge me cost- and out of goodwill, eat half of the price. The price was ONCE AGAIN approximately $1000+- even with the half off. They clearly know they are in the wrong or they wouldn’t offer to even help. But my question is, if they knew that the exhaust system was compromised, why would they sell me a ‘certified’ car without checking the entire exhaust system?! DO NOT TRUST the used car department. If you do go here- have the car checked out by an independent shop first. This is not an honest business. More
