We apologize for the situation. However, the repair was done under factory warranty. The parts used were covered under the factory warranty. Only when the parts are purchased independently or on a repair order do they come with an additional 2 year warranty. Most auto manufactures warranty policies on parts are similar, if not exactly the same as GM. As the vehicle is out of the original manufacturer warranty the $1775 repair is not covered. GM offered $200 towards the repair, and we matched that with another $200. We believe our offer is fair.

So that brand new part was only under warranty for 4 months? That is fair?? Why dont you do the right thing and honor that parts two year warranty. there are warranties for this exact reason and you are voiding because it works best for your dealership. So that powertrain warranty was for 100,000 miles. if that part failed at 99,999 miles and i got replaced under the powertrain warranty, then it fails at 100,001 miles it wouldn't be covered?

It was put in under the factory warranty. We are not voiding a warranty, your factory warranty from GM has expired. It does not come with an additional 2 year warranty. If the repair was done after the factory warranty had expired and was paid for by yourself then the part would have a 2 year warranty on the part only(does not include labor). There is no 2 year warranty on a part replaced under the factory warranty. Your vehicle came with a 5yr/100,000 powertrain warranty. At the time of your repair you had 98,481 miles on the vehicle, leaving you with 1519 miles of the factory warranty remaining. You now have 136k miles on the vehicle. The estimate of $1769.65 is based off of another shops diagnostics. Parts total comes to $468.16. With the GM credit of $200 and our offer to match of $200 that brings your parts down to $68.16. The labor to complete the repair is $1175.49. We feel this is more than fair.

Sa total of $1243.65? If that is the case that is not the way it was explained to me over the phone. The two gentlemen I spoke with had said that after GMs discount and the dealership's discount the total would be around $1650. I also received this message from corporate yesterday stating that a factory warrant does not void out the parts warranty. "Please know, most part repairs by a Chevrolet service department, outside of the applicable vehicle warranty, receive a parts warranty. For complete program details, please visit: https://www.mycertifiedservice.com/auto-parts-warranty.html. If the factory warranty expires, but the part was repaired, the part repaired will follow the parts warranty, not the factory warranty as it was a replacement/repair part." Also this is clearly a chronic problem for the Equinox. When your service people repaired it the first time they told me so because Chevy didnt make the exhaust port/hole large enough and can freeze shut in the winter. Maybe Chevy should do something to fix this issue. So what offer is it?
