1st and foremost the Day Subaru service dept employees are liars who take advantage of women, they tried to rip my wife off twice. The fist time was with tires at inspection, 1 year old tires all around are liars who take advantage of women, they tried to rip my wife off twice. The fist time was with tires at inspection, 1 year old tires all around and the Day Subaru tech told my wife they needed replaced, I called myself and the manager insisted they need replaced, I instructed my wife to take the car to Sears where we bought the tires and they measured the tread and said all is fine. Wife had to take car back to Day Subaru and report what the Sears auto folks said, finally Day Subaru gave in after me yelling at them over the phone from out of town. The other time was with a brake pad slides needing cleaned for $100 to pass inspection. Day Subaru consistently recommends unneeded services and over charges for parts and labor. The service dept states the oil change will take an hour and 2.5 hours later your car isn't even in the garage. Had a bad sensor on the motor and had to take the car back four times to get it fixed. BTW, I no longer take my Subaru's to this dealer for service and can't wait to sell my Subaru's for another brand. More
My Mom paid $1100 in Jan '09 to fix whatever was wrong with the timing belt (3rd replacement after 2 accidents) - normal price is ~$350 (Baierl quotes $365, Cochran $345). 22 Months later (manual says with the timing belt (3rd replacement after 2 accidents) - normal price is ~$350 (Baierl quotes $365, Cochran $345). 22 Months later (manual says timing belt should last 105 months or 105K miles before replacement) the timing belt jumps and half the engine loses timing. Get it towed in, they look at it, determine that the belt was again rubbing on the timing cover (which they replaced last repair). Phil is polite and all, but seemed uninterested in actually figuring out what went wrong, and could only suggest a new $3700 motor on an 82,000 mile car. Gimme a break - that belt travels along a determined path, if something is bent or beyond tolerance it should be measurable...they tell me I need a new motor but can't tell me WHY. It just seems like they don't want to figure out what's wrong. Case in point - we discussed putting a new timing belt on and seeing how that did, but I wanted to talk to the service manager Paul first (to see if we could do a compression test to see if the valves got bent before we put any $$$ into a belt) - they went and did it without authorization and could 'cut me a deal' at $382 (down from a $500 quote). Hopefully I can get it out for the price of parts and take it to a real technician. -------------------------------------- UPDATE: Paul the Service Manager was very understanding and helpful about resolving the mis-communication and we worked out a deal that was very fair. Don't know how this dealer still alive in business, I have nothing but headaches everytime I have to go there. For every problem I have on my car, the answer always is: THAT'S NORMAL. They should make cu have nothing but headaches everytime I have to go there. For every problem I have on my car, the answer always is: THAT'S NORMAL. They should make customer happy, not unhappy! They are my worst experience ever in my life. I do have an extended warranty, so since I don't pay per visit, they don't want to work! The only time they fixed a problem was when I had to pay because it was not cover under warranty. Believe me, always I go there I come home with car feeling totally fooled by these incompetents. More
