Old car dies; new car lives I suffered the ills of a known problem with Subaru's 4-cylinder engine – a head gasket failure that led to a cracked engine block. This at only 85,000 I suffered the ills of a known problem with Subaru's 4-cylinder engine – a head gasket failure that led to a cracked engine block. This at only 85,000 miles, and just two months after my 90,000 mile maintenance. Nearly $6,000! I chose to take $2,000 for my vehicle (I still think I deserved more) towards the lease of a new 2018 3.6R Outback – which I love so much I no longer think of my past vehicle. Although when I do (such as now) it really, REALLY, irks me that this happened. So, my reason below is Sales New, but it was brought on by a massive, shouldn't-have-happened failure of my older vehicle. More

He asked a few questions and didn't spend too much time on hold until he was provided with the answers. So far so good... and then we arrived. We spoke with the same salesman that took our phone call and were told the car was in another lot and he would have to go get it. Okay, no problem. We waited maybe 10 minutes. We were then told that we could only SEE the vehicle and NOT be able to test drive it since it had not yet been serviced and did not have a current inspection sticker. Excuse me??? I asked how it could be advertised online, with photos, all the information and a price, yet not be available for sale. The salesman said he "didn't know." He brought a car down to drive us up to this 2nd lot, but we've been trapped by salespeople before. We refuse to play games, so we left. They lost a cash sale that night. Next time we call about a car (somewhere else) we will also ask if it is current on inspection and can be taken for a test drive. It would have been nice if the salesman would have volunteered that information when we called. More

Then they show me two dirty air filters less than two years old and ask if I want them replaced at more than the oil change? Ok, I get it, you’re there to make money, but you can’t just take a vacuum and blow out undamaged dirty air filters? The car is less than two years old 16k miles. You just can’t keep squeezing me? I’m living on a limited budget. I LOVE my Subaru Crosstrek, don’t make me sorry I got it. More

They Don't Pay Attention to their Work I took my 2011 Outback in for a periodic service and to save a trip, asked if they could do my annual inspection (due in July) that day in late May. I took my 2011 Outback in for a periodic service and to save a trip, asked if they could do my annual inspection (due in July) that day in late May. Brandi said "sure"; they could postdate the sticker to July. I was in a hurry when the car was ready at the end of the day and didn't notice until I was on my way home that the stickers were indeed dated May. Then, when I got home I looked under the hood and the engine cover panel was missing. Brandi scheduled me for the following week to fix the sticker dates and replace the panel. Those two things (plus a complementary carwash and Day Subaru license plate frame) took one and a half hours. Note: I looked into the service bay when it had been an hour and saw my mechanic on his cell phone - no work being done. e Brandi was very friendly and didn't hesitate to throw in a set of new wiper blades when she saw how displeased I was with the slow response to the 'redo of the work' and having to return to the dealer for it. When I got home this time, I immediately popped the hood and - who knew! - the engine cover was not installed properly. Day needs to have someone review the work before it leaves the shop floor; the mechanics are doing sloppy work. More
