We bought a brand-new 2024 Outback from the Riverside Subaru dealership & the radio malfunctioned almost from day 1. We took it back 3times & Riverside never fixed it. The service department has been very good, from the advisors to the technicians. When my car was damaged by rats twice within two months they were great about keeping me updated on the progress of ext advisors to the technicians. Stay away. These guys were sketchy when I purchased 2019 Forester. Now purchasing 2024Foreseer - Premium, plf 15, warranty = 7 years/100k miles/zero copay. These guys were sketchy when I purchased 2019 Forester. Now purchasing 2024Foreseer - Premium, plf 15, warranty = 7 years/100k miles/zero copay. No trade-in, No Financing. This should make it easy to compare and come up with a competitive quote. Jeff starts out good by providing a test drive & I explain we’ll get back to him. I go in a few days later to Jeff and talk about a solid quote on the above-mentioned car. Jeff asks about other quotes and I show him proof. He walks away to talk to financing and his GSM and comes back with a quote of $36,400 with the warranty saying he’ll have to “short-sell” the warranty to make it work. I explain we’ll grab a cashiers check and wrap this up on Friday afternoon. I perform 2 follow-up calls to Jeff to make sure we have an all-in price with no shenanigans. He assured me we’re good. In the interim, Irvine Subaru calls and offers exact same car with same parameters for 35,800. I explain I sort of feel committed and the Subaru dealer is close but if anything goes sideways, I’ll throw him the business. Friday comes, We grab the car, they start the detailing, we sit at Jeff’s desk and fill out the ‘I’m not laundering money “ form. Jeff walks away and comes back saying he’s really really sorry but he can’t honor the price we agreed upon. I retrieve my cashier check, walk out, Phone Tim Allen at Irvine and ask if his price is still good. I then head to the bank and re-cut a check for $35,800 for Irvine Subaru. With Friday traffic to Orange County, 4-hours later, we have a 2024 Forester sitting in our driveway. Last thing, the next day, Jeff texts me asking if we’re still able eco the deal and I explain I should send his GSM a fruit bouquet for saving me $600 (I don’t think he believed I actually had a cheaper quote). The GSM was shady 5 years ago and still is today. Service department might be okay but don’t trust sales/Finance. More
