Start learning how to service your own car via YouTube I took my XV Crosstrek which I purchased at that same location for a recall service on the valve springs. Steve was always very cordial and respectful but cold and non-sympathetic to my situation. I called several months before hand and they said I would have priority since I purchased the car there and not at one point did, I hear from them and had to be constantly reaching out and they kept telling me in an annoyed manner that the technicians were not trained. I only found out through a forum that they had started doing repairs for this recall. I usually go out of my way to go to this Subaru because have had bad experiences at the Bird Road Subaru as well. The main issue I had was the lack of communication. They mentioned that I needed to “possibly” change the spark plugs and that I would save me $400 worth of labor doing so because they had to remove the engine for the recall either way, so to replace them would be a breeze. I told him that it was something I was considering and to kindly tell me how much the services would be. Which at one point he called and told me how much that would be with a slew of other repairs that amounted for $700. I even had to suggest services which he didn’t mention which were important like the oil in the rear/front differentials. Usually these service shops are not the most cost effective but is worth paying the extra money for the service and their attention to detail which was lacking this time around. I received one more call from Steve mentioning that they had already mounted the engine block and simply put I would have to pay the labor if I wanted to change the spark plugs. This being completely unacceptable because he set the expectation and gave me his word. I guess it didn’t mean much. They did try to fix this issue by replacing it at cost and having the service manager pay for removing the engine again. Honestly at this point I didn't trust it and didnt want to be plopping the engine in and out of my car for a mistake they made. Once I already was displeased, I received a text and call to pick up the car. After leaving work I had to drive for about an hour to pick up the car and he called me when I was 10 minutes away to tell me to basically turn around that the check engine light was on and if it was on when I turned it in. Again, at this point I am so worried about my car which I depend on so much to be in the hands of these agents. My engine light has never turned on. Overall, I had a really bad experience and could say if my car or future cars with Subaru have another recall I would rather endanger myself by taking the risk then turning it in to Subaru to have them damage my car more or just be outright disrespected and belittled by these agents who are trying to exploit the ignorance of consumers in their money making ploy and treating customers awfully as they do it. Doesn’t leave me with much choices to take my Subaru for repairs, makes me think whether to even recommend the brand in the Greater Miami area. More
