I replac My 2015 Subaru Forester started showing three flashing lights on the dash. Research indicated the problem was likely the brake light switch. I replaced the switch which did not correct the problem. The flashing lights issue continued and then it developed an issue where the vehicle would not turn over after it had been run 15-20 minutes and shut down. Took it to Subaru by the Bay for service and explained the issues. They were convinced it was the brake light switch which they replaced and it did not solve the problem. They spent five weeks diagnosing the issue and brought in a regional Subaru mechanic twice. They tried replacing major controllers which did not fix the issue. Eventually, they replaced the battery reported the car was fixed. They presented me with a repair cost of $1650.00 and said Subaru ate about half the cost. About four weeks after the repair, the three flashing lights started happening again and eventually, the issue with starting the vehicle came back. Scared of the time and repair costs associated with Subaru by the Bay, I called another Subaru dealer about 70 miles away and explained the situation. They were shocked by the work and billing presented by Subaru by the Bay and promised that was not the way they would handle the situation. I took the car to the other dealer and in less that two hours they diagnosed and repaired the issue. Turned out to be a wire running through the left fender and firewall that was grounding out and another on the back of the starter that needed to be tightened. I took both repair tickets to Subaru by the Bay and explained the situation as well as my disappointment in their work and billing. Clearly, their work did not fix the vehicle. I requested they review their procedures and what they billed me and correct the situation. After two months of their 'looking into it', it seems they have decided their appropriate action is to ignore me. I would have thought that a business in a small community would have shown some integrity and at least offered some return. Perhaps they could have paid the cost of the other dealer's repair. Talked to Subaru of America customer service. They assured me that Subaru by the Bay is an independent dealer and they have no control over what they do or how they run their business. Hmmm, starting to think Subaru of America doesn't care about who their dealers are or how they represent their brand. At least a got a new battery out of the deal... I think. More
Fast and friendly Subaru by the Bay picked up my 2004 Subaru Forester from my office for an oil change and wouldn't you know it, something else was wrong! They immedia Subaru by the Bay picked up my 2004 Subaru Forester from my office for an oil change and wouldn't you know it, something else was wrong! They immediately called me and provided details on what was wrong and advised what needed to be done and what had to be done for safety. I called another service station to get an estimate and the prices weren't too far off so I called Subaru by the Bay back and asked them to go ahead with the service. I would rather spend a little more and use actual Subaru parts than risk non-factory parts. I was told that my repairs would be done in two days - not ideal for sure but what was I going to do? The parts came in faster than anticipated or something so I was able to get my car back at the end of the following day! When I went in to pick up my car, I was offered parts to review (as if I would know what I was looking at) and we went over my bill to compare estimate to actual. Not really what I wanted to be spending my money on but I appreciate the mechanics telling me about my issue before it really became and issue and giving me options on what I absolutely had to fix now and what could come later to save a little money. Avoid this place! Brought my car in for a routine maintenance timing belt change, coolant flush and tranny fluid change. Mind you, there is absolutely nothing wrong wit Brought my car in for a routine maintenance timing belt change, coolant flush and tranny fluid change. Mind you, there is absolutely nothing wrong with my car, i just intend to keep up on the regular maintenance so it doesn’t cost me even more when something does fail. The work was “completed” and i picked my car up and drove it home thinking everything was taken care of. The following afternoon i decided to run some errands and i made it a block out of my subdivision and my dashboard was lit up like a Christmas tree. Returned home immediately and checked my fluid levels and the coolant reservoir was completely empty and the tranny fluid wouldn’t even read on the stick. I put an entire red solo cup of coolant into the radiator and refilled my reserve and took it back to get the appropriate amount of tranny fluid in it. Apparently a sensor had come loose causing the warning lights on the dash to go off and was plugged back in. They claimed to have topped off my tranny fluid as well and made sure my coolant was proper. Told them i would pick my car up in the late evening because i work long hours and to leave the keys in it and lock it because i have a spare set. Picked the car up and they held onto the keys in the shop... Still Took it home because i had been carless for 3 days at that point. On the drive home i tried to use my high beams because it was dark out, my $180 HID’s are fried.. i get home and of course, popped the hood to look at my car and the coolant reservoir was filled past the full line and my tranny fluid still wouldn’t even read on the dipstick... took it back AGAIN requesting the appropriate amount of tranny fluid be put in the vehicle and got my second set of keys. One mechanic tried to tell me the seal on my dipstick was probably bad and causing a bad reading, i told him to come outside and tell me I’m wrong then. Turns out there was absolutely nothing wrong with the dipstick and between the coolant level being overfilled and the tranny fluid being extremely low his only comments were, Will this hurt the car, no. But is it done right? No” .... Well that is my point guy, i paid $1,400 in parts and labor because i didn’t want to lay a finger on the car and here it is attempt #3 at making things right. Thinking the worst was over i finally took my car home. The car drove fine for a week until today, pulling into work my car started billowing white smoke. I shut the car off pop the hood and hop out, noticing a river of coolant i managed to spray all over the lot on my way in.. i look under the hood and the intake hose on the radiator was completely disconnected. Whoever worked on my car never put the hose clamp back in the correct spot to secure it but rather left it clamped near the middle of the hose and it eventually worked its way loose. I am more than disappointed in the service at this dealership. Absolutely horrible work they have done. If your mechanics can’t even get fluid levels right or remember to put a hose clamp back, how do i know my timing belt was done right or even at all? Clearly they don’t pay any attention to detail whatsoever. Will never be back and will never recommend. I feel sorry for those that are not mechanically inclined enough to double check their work and get screwed over at this place and continue to return. I would rather pay to have my car towed to another town to have it done correctly on the first try. More

When I first started using them and their service station, they seemed very knollegable and courteous but as the years went on, it seamed like I wasn’t really cared about anymore. My car has recently started smoking and smelling really bad, so I took it in. After waiting over 2 hours for a diognosis, they came back and said it would be $3500 to fix my car... The car originally only cost me $6000... I was blown away, it only has 130,000 miles on it and I’ve already poured thousands into it, and the young guy in the service station just shrugged his shoulders like I had no other options, and booked my cars appointment... I took it to another service station that I used before I got my Subaru, and they told me at most it would be $2300 to fix (still a lot) but over $1000 less than Subaru by the bay... I do not recommend Subaru by the bay, unless you like paying extra for something you can get somewhere else... also, the other service station gave it to me flat out and said my car isn’t worth putting that much money into it because of its age and I should probably just invest in a new car. Why wouldn’t Subaru tell me that and try to get me to buy a newer car from them? Probably because they are selfish, by fixing my car, letting it break down again, so ultimately I’d have to buy a new car anyway and that way they would get my money from the services and buying a new car... unreal and very disturbing More
