We were lied to, deceived and treated unprofessionally and disrepectfully. Also had the price change by $1000 for work they did over problems we found on a test drive and only after I refused to finance t and disrepectfully. He tried to get me to finace multiple times even after being told I had cash in hand and would not. He even sent us away to wait for another vehicle which never arrived. When we told Dave and Larry we wanted to sit down and work a deal and numbers on the Passat he told us to "give the Jetta the benefit of the doubt". After waiting over an hour he called and said the Jetta wasn't coming and to come back and see if we can work a deal about the Passat. Well on our way back we saw the Passat leave on a test drive with another couple...imaging that. We got back and told them we saw that and wouldn't be part of a bidding war. They assured us they don't work that way. We sat down with Dave to write an offer as we had already talked about what we would pay. Larry then came in and rudely took over, interrupting Dave. Dave suggested we had talked and just to get to the bottom price, Larry got upset and refused and told us we "had to play the game". He eventually left and returned with a proposal. We countered with our final offer $6500 out the door for the Passat they had listed at "$5495" and they wouldn't have to charge the A/C. He hesitated for over five minutes making all kinds of reasons why that wouldn't work. We told him that was final. He took the offer in and within three minutes returned and said it was too late the other couple who had been out on the test drive just bought the car. Larry then stated it was for the price we just offered. Guess what?! As we walked by them I heard them agreeing to finane through the dealership. So in MHO they unethically sold the car out from under us because we wouldn't finance...if that isn't the reason then it is just plain incompetence by Larry. Either way BEWARE of the slimeball Larry! When I went to complain I was directed to the overweight hispanic looking bearded finance manager. He looked at me as if to tell me to "F" off. Then both Larry and this fool, smirked at me and told me there was nothing that could be done and shrugged their shoulders. That's the kind of slimely business they do. Then to make matters worse....Here is the car listed today with the new belt and water pump and $1000 more on the price. Then to see just how ridiculous this dealership is and what Mr. Brian Strong really meant when he says he'd like to hear from us, I called his number and left a voice message with my number asking him to call me back and explainig what happened. Haven't heard a word from him...imagine that! Then they have the balls to call me today and tell me they wanted to see if they could still earn my business and it was unfortunate how things went down. Are you fricking kidding me??!!! By the way, if I would have been happy with them I would have bought a second car for my business from them within the next 8 to 12 months...So who really lost here?.....Strong VW did! DO NOT BUY from them. The above named are unethical and practiced decietful busniess practices and obviously have an incompetent service department to not have found the problems prior to offering the car for sale. I will look into whether that was a violation of the law on their part for putting out a vehicle that did not have the required recall issue corrected and allowing the public access to a potentially dangerous and unsafe vehicle.....Can you say Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division?? I would like to say one thing positive though. Dave our original saleman was great to deal with and was actually honest with us until he allowed Larry to run all over him and sabotage his sale. Larry needs to be kicking rocks down the road Mr. Strong! As long as he's around you will NEVER get my business. If your dealership screwed up by listing the wrong price for a broken car then take it out on your managers NOT your clientele. More
After explaining that I would be moving out of state to start a new 6 figure job, I asked the salesman, who asked the sales manager and finance manager if I would be approved to buy a new/used car despite start a new 6 figure job, I asked the salesman, who asked the sales manager and finance manager if I would be approved to buy a new/used car despite not having a start date until about a week after the deal. If no, fine, I'd wait until after my move out of state; if yes, I'd buy a car from them if we could agree. Of course, they said no problem. Sooo, I spend over 8 hours approaching everything in good faith, providing info and agreeing on a Touareg. At the last minute, the business manager tells me they can't do the deal unless I give them a sizable deposit to hold the car and then, after I start my new job I can drive 9 hours back to pick up my car. When I reject this out of hand, expressed my displeasure over the way they wasted a large amount of my time, Shad (the sales manager who told me I could trust him because he does things differently than other dealers) begged me not to leave upset and promised to call the owner, Brad Strong, to get approval. He said to give him an hour and he would make this right. Never heard from him again. Bottom line, they knew there would be a snag, but schemed that if they could get me far enough into the deal and invested in the car, they could change the game and I'd still be ok with it. They showed callous disrespect and heartless gamesmanship while counting on their powers of persuasion to sucker me into a BS deal. I wholeheartedly recommend you to distrust this group, especially Shad. In our great capitalist system, the only way to change the bad behavior of a corporation is to not do business with them, which is what I vigorously recommend. More

It is never easy to sell as sales person. I have been in an industry that requires customer service and full time pr for 40 years. Matt Hansen is the consumate sales person with regards to these primary an industry that requires customer service and full time pr for 40 years. Matt Hansen is the consumate sales person with regards to these primary qualities. He is honest, he is transparent and his advice is without regard to his income. I reccomend him and Strongs highly and by virture of my experiences, which are many with Strongs, you will not find a better place to purchase your next vehicle. More

We have purchased a few cars through Matt Hansen at Dave Strong VW over the years, mostly recently a GTI. I cannot say enough about what a difference the sales experience is with Matt as opposed to other dealerships and other salespeople we have worked with - night and day. Rather than leaving annoyed and feeling that you have to constantly be on guard for high-pressure sales tactics, Matt has always been extremely professional, knowledgeable, polite, genuine, respectful and patient. He listens to every detail of what you are looking for, works very hard to find what you need, and is a straight-shooter through the whole process. Not only that, but when we have returned to have the car serviced Matt has been very gracious with his time and has helped us find accessories and answered questions about unique features and upkeep of our car. (It is also worth nothing that Dave Strong's service department is second to none). The cars you see on Dave Strong's lot are only a small assortment of the vehicles they actually have on hand, and Matt is always up on their current inventory and gets the cars we want to drive when we show up. Matt's sales approach could be the model for other dealers. He is open, honest, fair, and no-pressure. He has gone far out of his way to make deals work out for us. Matt seems to be one of the few guys out there that gets that if you can feel great about your experience that is the best way to get repeat business. Not only have we returned to buy cars specifically from him, but we have referred friends and family to him on numerous occasions. It is nice to know you can refer a friend and have full confidence that they will have the same experience we have had. Every single person we have sent to him has been blown away by how relaxed and easy their buying experience was. If you are looking for a VW, make it easy on yourself and drop in to Dave Strong's and ask for Matt. More

Although what we ended up finding was out of state, he still gave me great information regarding my purchase from a private individual. I would say that my persistence has been overpowering at times, but not once did Matt say for me to deal with it on my own. He was patient and worked with me for several months, (almost a complete year) looking for my current car. Strong's VW on a whole is a new experience for a dealership. I have never felt so comfortable buying a car from anyone like I have from Strongs. Matt has figured out that people don't want to deal with sketchy sales people, so his approach is straight forward, and open from the start. He will do his best to get you what you want and what you want it for. So far, from my experience of buying cars from him, it's a far better deal than what you'd get at other local dealerships. More

We walked into Dave Strong and were immediately greeted with smiles by Matt Hansen. We test drove quite a few Jettas and Golfs that day but were smitten with a gray Jetta 1.8 Turbo. After the test drive we knew we had to have it! Matt gave us an amazing deal on the car and we were ready to sign. We loved the idea of having it financed through VW and were thrilled with the low interest that was being offered. So far everything had been running smoothly and we were very impressed by everyone we had worked with so far. Then we hit a snag with the interest rate. We were a bit disappointed so we told Matt that we would think about it and return the next day with our answer. Within 30 minutes we received a phone call from your finance guy (wish I remembered his name) who told us that not only did he fight and win to get us the lowest interest rate possible but because of the trouble it caused he would knock $1500 off the price of the car. Need I add, WOW! Not only have we referred every person we know in need of a new car to Dave Strong VW and Matt Hansen but because of our great experience there, we will only buy our cars from that dealership. More
