I purchased a used car from Stokes Brown Toyota some time ago. A 2006 Kia. The problem was that the description of the car I purchased said that it had cruise control. When I asked about it, they said they would make good and have it installed. I was very happy, until I took a trip to Ohio, a few weeks after I bought the car. It was fine until coming back through the West Virginia mountains the cruise control went nutty and kept accelerating and pressing the brakes would not stop it. I was scared because nothing like that had ever happened to me before but I was fortunate enough to get my car to slow down enough to pull the emergency brake, and throw it in park. We were towed to a Kia dealership where they disconnected it, and I had to pay for towing and the work they did. When we returned The Toyota dealership was very apologetic, and fixed it again...or so I thought. It happened again. On my way to work, on Hilton Head Island. Heavy traffic, but I was close to work. I was able to stop it on the side of the road on Hwy 278 without an accident. I had to cross Hwy 278 to get to work and tell my supervisor that I had to go wait for a tow truck. Then I had to cross Hwy 278 again to wait for the tow truck. It was towed to Stokes and I asked them to disconnect it. There was no charge to disconnect, but I don't have the cruise control that was supposed to already be installed. Obviously it was a very cheap cruise control. It was very expensive for me though, and it almost cost me my life and the life of my 2 daughters. My youngest daughter has driven the car a few times. I am thankful that this did not happen when she was driving. I am wondering if they put a different cruise control in or just reconnected the same one? When I posted this review the customer service manager Tom Farabaugh contacted me to see what he could do to make me feel better, and he suggested installing a new cruise control, but after the loss of control 2 times, I am not willing to put another one in. He suggested that I trade in this car for another, but I still owe too much for this car and don't need a higher car payment at this time, so this option is not for me. Then he said he would look into the monetary value for the cruise control, and the problems it caused for me and he came back with an offer of $75.00. I have done a little research recently, and what I have found is that if you put a cheap aftermarket cruise control in a vehicle it usually won't work out. Also the work has to be done by a reputable company. I did not know this at the time or I would have just asked for a price reduction when I bought the car and found out it did not have the cruise control they claimed. Why would anyone knowingly put their family in danger? I have to admit I did not expect anything so the offer of $75.00 was more than I expected. Why did I not press for more? Why waste my time? More

Began looking for a Highlander approximately 2 weeks before purchasing from StokesBrown HH. Of all the replies I received from five dealers, Paul Osborn not only beat out the other dealers with his quo before purchasing from StokesBrown HH. Of all the replies I received from five dealers, Paul Osborn not only beat out the other dealers with his quote but also worked with me in finding the color and options that I requested. This purchase was certainly a no hassle experience. Paul is a down to earth salesman and never injected any presure or attemped to sale any additonal options in which we did not request. In addition I must add that although I did not personnally meet the other employees of StokesBrown all of them were very curtious in passing.. More
From the moment I walked in, they were very friendly and attentive to my needs. I told them how much I could afford and they made sure that they gave me a price that was able to meet my budget. Paul was very patient and answered every little question I had and made sure that I was picking the best possible car for my son and I. I went there with my boyfriend and both of us left buying cars! It was only supposed to be me but he couldn't pass up a good deal. I would definitely go back to Stokes Brown Toyota of Hilton Head-Bluffton and am planning on refering them as much as possible! This is the second Toyota we have purchased at Stokes-Brown. At the time my wife and I decided to replace my 2000 Ford there was no question were we would go and what vehicle we would purchase. Four hours later we were driving away in a 2010 Rav4. The Sales associates were very attentive to my requirements and I received the deal I was looking for. I was impressed with the friendliness and directness of both Paul and Eva. I didn't know anything about a Toyota Sienna (we had a Honda Odyssey). Over the years, I have purchased automobiles in a number of states - brands such as VW, Buick, Cadillac, Toyota, Acura and Honda. The experience in dealing with these gentlemen far exceeds that of past purchases. I felt as though they really desired to sell cars but they did not come across as "pushy" or high pressure. Pablo and Brette have been very helpful in teaching me some of the fine points of the vehicle. When it boiled down to negotiating price, a sincere give and take discussion took place between Steve and me, with both of us really trying to settle on a mutually satisfactory price. After the purchase was completed, a few minor issues with the vehicle arose and they all "jumped" on the solution. This after-purchase attitide speaks well of them and the dealership. I regard this experience as the finest I have ever had in purchasing an automobile anyewhere. The Business Manager, Charles, was very helpful, to the point of reminding me of the time in St. Louis where I walked out of a Honda dealership and went to Acura because of a very hostile business manager - Charles was the exact opposite.
