Note: I am not recommending the service department. My experience with sales and finance was amazingly painless and efficient. It was the total opposite at the service center. They advertised parts on experience with sales and finance was amazingly painless and efficient. It was the total opposite at the service center. They advertised parts on sale but then didn't honor it. Not a national sale, their own service center parts sale. They came back and said it was only offered on the internet although there was nothing online indicating so. Overpriced. I am very well aware that servicing a vehicle at the dealership will cost more than most places. But to be charged $230 for the installation of window vents is absolutely insane. Only went ahead because this was a new car and the appointment was already made. Asked to have the vehicle cleaned and appears only the outside was washed. Not sure if that's all they normally do but I thought a thorough vacuuming of the interior would be included considering I specified that. Asked to remove their dealer sticker, they complied that they would but then did not. Service rep lied as to the difficulty of the job. Was going to purchase a part (rear bumper cover) and asked if it was simply installed with adhesive. Service Rep told me there was more to it and was going to charge for the install. Bought the part only, at cost and not their own advertised sale price and it turned out it was only adhesive so I was fortunate that I didn't have them install the part and gouge me a little more. Unfortunate that I was lied to. We really thought the hard part of buying a new car would be at the showroom. How wrong I was. Other than that, they were sufficiently courteous. More
I wouldn't have my Subaru serviced anywhere else. Scheduling an appointment was easy, the service advisor reviewed my service history, and my car was ready in the timeframe he estimated. In addition Scheduling an appointment was easy, the service advisor reviewed my service history, and my car was ready in the timeframe he estimated. In addition to a regular oil change, a recall item was fixed (puddle lights). Ahmad was polite, thorough, and walked me over to the cashier to finish up the visit. He also let me know what upcoming services to expect, as I will hit my next milestone of 60K at about the same time I need my next oil change, More
I recently had the opportunity to visit Stohlman VW to have my CPO Jetta repaired. As the dealership I had purchased my car from was too far from home, I opted to go to Stohlman, due to the fact that they have my CPO Jetta repaired. As the dealership I had purchased my car from was too far from home, I opted to go to Stohlman, due to the fact that they had great reviews for service. From the initial online appointment scheduling to the delivery of my vehicle, I was nothing but pleased with how everything was handled. As I had never been assigned a Service Manager before at this location, I chose Jack Smith as he consistently received great reviews. It is apparent why he is the guy to go to because he kept me informed every step of the process up until I picked up my car. As I am a fairly detailed person, Jack explained everything to me and what was being done to my car. I was worried at first as what I though was a strut ended up being an axle, and fortunately, was covered under the CPO warranty. It was definitely worth driving the extra distance to this location as my local VW service center isn't the most appealing. Thanks again Jack and staff! More
In August I purchased a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Volkswagen from ANOTHER dealer. Soon after purchasing the vehicle, I experienced problems with the disc brakes and brought the vehicle into Stohlman Volkswagen from ANOTHER dealer. Soon after purchasing the vehicle, I experienced problems with the disc brakes and brought the vehicle into Stohlman Automotive to diagnose the problem. My service advisor informed me that the front and rear disc brakes needed to be replaced. I was extremely concerned that the problem arose so soon after purchasing the CPO vehicle, as the brake problem should have been fixed before the vehicle was sold to me by this other dealership. The repair was not covered by the VW CPO warranty, so I contacted VW of America Customer Service to lodge a complaint. The total price of the repairs as quoted by Stohlman was nearly $1,100. VW of America agreed to provide me with a $500 credit towards the repair. After then speaking with Stohlman Service Manager Joe Lishman, he understood my problem and promised to speak with VW of America and take care of the situation for me. Despite the fact that Stohlman was not in any way responsible for the initial problem, Joe worked with VW of America and ultimately directed his team to install new front and rear brake pads and rotors on my vehicle AT NO COST TO ME. Stohlman Automotive went above and beyond my expectations in resolving a problem that was caused by another dealership in the first place. I am very pleased with the service provided by Stohlman and would not hesitate to use or recommend them in the future. More
I took my '07 Outback in for a 60k mile service yesterday. I also asked them to look at a vibration in the steering wheel I had noticed when driving at higher speeds. I don't have any major complai yesterday. I also asked them to look at a vibration in the steering wheel I had noticed when driving at higher speeds. I don't have any major complaints, but their customer service was rather sloppy and a bit disingenuous. First, I told the gentleman who scheduled the service that I wouldn't need the oil changed because I had just had that done. Apparently the message was not passed along, and they performed the completely unnecessary service anyway. Even if the message wasn't passed along, one would think that the perfectly clean, brand new, oil would be a clue. I had also told the scheduler that my check engine light was on because of a loose gas cap, something which had happened before and which I had zero concern about. But when the sales representative called me to tell me how the service was going, it was clear that this information was not relayed either, and he tried to make it sound like they had caught some big problem until I told him it had happened before and then he admitted that it was the gas cap. Next, the sales representative told me that the vibration in the steering wheel could be caused by the low quality tires on the car. The tires, however, are Yokohama Avid Envigor high performance grade, with quite a bit of life left on them. From then on, he had no credibility in my eyes and I tuned him out when he tried to sell me on a bunch of add-ons. I assume the service was fine; I'm not a mechanic, but everything seemed to be operating fine. But that probably has more to do with the quality of the car and the fact that I take fairly good care of it. I would just like more forthright dealings with sales representatives. I have had a customer service issue with this place before and the reason I took it back here is the convenience and price, but I'll now consider other places. AMENDED I promptly got a call from the representative and he apologized for the miscommunication between himself, the scheduler, and those performing the work. He offered a free oil change and honored a coupon I had forgotten about yesterday. Like I said, my complaints were not major and Stohlman's attentiveness to them was a pleasant surprise. More
2003 VW Beetle Convertible, experiencing the transmission problem associated with the valve body. I had read online about horror stories working with dealerships who wouldn't acknowledge the problem but Bobb problem associated with the valve body. I had read online about horror stories working with dealerships who wouldn't acknowledge the problem but Bobby at Stohlman told me it was covered and would be no problem. I also had the oil changed. Picked up the car, nice day so I go to put the windows down and GRIND GRIND GRIND the driver's side window doesn't go down. This model has a problem with the windows in the doors and I'm always gentle with it, apparently whoever was in my car while it was at the dealership was not. So I go back inside and explain. The manager Joe Lishman tells me there's no way they could have damaged the window regulator mechanism but that since this model has trouble he'd be willing to install it for free if I buy the part. Well, with this model if you open or close the door you're running the risk of damaging the window but fine, let's do that. Come back again to pick up the car, the window is not working properly. The one touch feature isn't working, and the window doesn't go up and down as you enter and exit the car (the anti-pinch feature for the convertible roof). Bobby says it looks like the switch so I have to come back a third time. Now Bobby tells me it's not the switch, it's the motor, and the problem is internal to the motor so they could not have caused it. The window was working fine before I brought it in the first time, the switch was working fine before the regulator was replaced, and now I've got a motor issue. Something new just happens to break every time I bring it back to get fixed for a problem caused by the dealership in the first place. Thanks for making my car worse. More
I arrived for my scheduled Saturday morning appointment for my Mitsubishi (that I purchased at this Stohlman location) at the service center. My car was taken back and when I arrived at the counter, they c for my Mitsubishi (that I purchased at this Stohlman location) at the service center. My car was taken back and when I arrived at the counter, they could not find my appointment. Apparently, Stohlman stopped selling/servicing Mitsubishi cars. I was never informed of this when a) making my appointment or b) in the 2 weeks between making the appointment and arriving to the dealership 30 minutes away from my home. I feel that when I made the appointment through Jill, she should have known that Stohlman was in the process of closing down their showroom and service department as I made my appointment a mere two weeks before its closing. At the very least, I would have appreciated an email, phone call or letter from Stohlman cancelling my appointment. This would have saved me the gas money and the time from traveling on I-66 on a holiday weekend to make it to my appointment on time. Overall, I am very disappointed about how Stohlman Automotive handled this situation. More
