Frustrated My 2016 Honda Pilot has been hesitating when accelerating. The RPMs basically just go up and down until I get to a higher rate of speed. The vehicle h My 2016 Honda Pilot has been hesitating when accelerating. The RPMs basically just go up and down until I get to a higher rate of speed. The vehicle has around 53000 miles. It is still under the Powertrain warranty and we also purchased a $3000 extended warranty that was supposed to cover almost everything. Dropped the vehicle off at 8:00. The service advisor called my husband around 11:00 am to tell him that it needed a software update and transmission service. He also proceeded to say we had to pay a diagnostic fee. All of which he says is not covered under warranty. I decided to call back myself and talk with the advisor and ask why a software update, that would be required, would not be covered. He just said it wasn’t. I proceeded to tell him that I had brought my CRV in previously, with the same type of issue, and it was covered. He looked it up in the computer and then said he would talk to his manager. He also said he doubted it would be covered. He called me back and said that the manager said they would cover the software update but I would have to pay for the diagnostic fee. At that point I just wanted my car to be done and said ok. $110 later, I get my car back. He says that he still recommends a transmission service. Mind you, he made a point to let me know that the normal hourly rate is like $50 or something like that. I guess we were getting a “deal” since we only have to pay $110. The next day, my Pilot starts doing it again. I am beyond frustrated at this point. This is a known problem and Honda has yet to fix it. Anyone can Google it and see that it is an issue. My problem is that both my CRV and, now my Pilot, have had these issues. Why I had to pay for one and not the other is beyond me. I paid a lot of money for this vehicle to have it mess up with such low mileage AND buy an extended warranty. I have had many vehicles and a simple transmission service wouldn’t remedy an issue like this. I used to work in the service industry and know they make money in sales. Unless you wear and tear your car, most vehicles don’t need a transmission flush under 100,000 miles. Now we have to take another day and find another ride to drop off the vehicle AGAIN. To see what the issue is. I’m sure it will be something that costs me money out of pocket because the warranty won’t cover it. I have always put my faith in Honda vehicles but not so much anymore.
