We purchased a used Scion TC on May 31 for our son. We knew buying used is always a risk; however, we took out a warranty for three years/36,000. We were assured it had been state inspected and went through their extensive multi-point check to ensure it was good to go. Unfortunately, just within driving 56 miles, the check engine light came on. I called our salesman Mark to discuss this, and he told me the sale was final and as is. Upon a quick discussion, he asked us to bring it in, which we did. They kept the car for over a week with little to no updates. Eventually, I was told that the catalytic convertor had a crack and needed to be replaced. I was only contacted again once it was ready to pick up. Upon picking it up, we noticed the windshield wipers were not working properly and thought it might be a fuse. We got home, and the electrical system on the driver's side stopped working completely, and the motor of the wipers quit. Sadly, the extended warranty does not kick in for 30 days. So we wait. Well.....not even 500 miles put on the vehicle, and the check engine light is BACK on throwing the same code. I called Sterling McCall Honda on 07/20/23 to be told the catalytic converter was not repaired in the service department but taken to an exhaust shop where an off-market (not Toyota) catalytic convertor was put on and now is not covered under the warranty because it is not stocked. We NEVER approved, nor were we told that it was being taken off the lot for repairs. Now my son is without a vehicle, and the extended warranty he paid for is irrelevant because of this dealership. Please save yourself time and trouble and do not go here. More
