Visited the dealer to purchase a new vehicle. Was initially told by the first person who greeted us that they didn't have the color we wanted but could obtain the vehicle in a few days. Then a sales initially told by the first person who greeted us that they didn't have the color we wanted but could obtain the vehicle in a few days. Then a sales manager corrected his employee, claimed he did have the car in stock at his warehouse and negotiated a fair price. When we asked to see the vehicle before signing he hedged, tried to direct us to a similar vehicle in his showroom as a reference(different color/style) and when we held firm and said we needed to see the car, he, agitated for a reason we'd only later come to understand, told us he'd have the car brought from the warehouse which was a short distance away and asked us to wait, noting it would take about ten minutes. Fifteen minutes later the person we initially spoke to approached us to say THE CAR WAS ON ITS WAY and it would just be a little longer for the car to arrive. Fifteen minutes later he approached us again and told us it would be another fifteen minutes. Then, fifteen minutes later, smirking, he told the car we were waiting to see, again a new vehicle, had a dead battery and could not be shown to us. Curious, I called the dealer the next day and discovered they never had the vehicle. This review would have been much more scathing had we not, immediately following this terrible experience, had a terrific experience at Queensborough Toyota where we purchased our vehicle within fifteen minutes of walking through the door. I came here the first time because the Engine light, VSC Trac and VSC Off lights came on. I was told the sensor was the problem and needed a replacement. Okay, I paid nearly $500 just for this one minor pro Trac and VSC Off lights came on. I was told the sensor was the problem and needed a replacement. Okay, I paid nearly $500 just for this one minor problem. (The part only cost $156). Less than 2 weeks later, the same lights came on again. I took it back for a re-service and only to find that, another sensor was defective. I was not happy to find out the second time around that there are 4 sensors. To make matter worst, they found a list of other mechanical problems I was not informed of the first time. What ever happened to the 27 points FREE INSPECTION? Clearly, someone didn't do his job! Kevin was assigned to help me with the service light problems. He was absolutely professional and friendly from the moment I met him, till the moment I left the dealership. He went out of his way to make sure I was completely happy with all the work that was done. Though I ended up spending more money on fixing on all the problems, Kevin gave me a good price. Thanks Kevin! -Jack More

I would not recommend this dealership because they are dishonest. I came in to lease a car, the price was alright but it also depended what they would give me for my trade. I was trading a 2003 Camry with dishonest. I came in to lease a car, the price was alright but it also depended what they would give me for my trade. I was trading a 2003 Camry with only 55000 miles and the car has been very well maintained. Everything was alright until their manager took it for a test drive, came back and told me that the manifold was leaking. So they told me it would cost $1500.00 to repair and they would only give me $5000.00. At first I was first taken back, but we wanted to get into a new car and said the hecht with it. I signed and gave a deposit and they told me the car would be in the next day. It was bothering me about what the manager said, so I work for an oil company and I have a fleet manager and full staff garage. Well they checked out and found that the problem was a simple fix called a flex tube, labor and material $235.00 to fix. I was pretty upset over the fact that they tried to take advantage of me, especially when my son-in-law just leased a car from them and then recommended that we go see these people. I called my salesperson Victor and told him to cancel our order, that I cannot purchase a car from people I do not trust. I told him if he wants me to lease the car, I will have my car fixed and they can give me $6200.00 for my car. Victor went to speak to his manager. Called my back within a 1/2 hour and said to me it's a deal. I told him I will call him back. That evening I went to another dealer on Long Island, get a better deal with gps and they gave me $6000.00 for my car, no questions asked. I called back Victor at Star told him to credit my card. He said he will take care of it.As of this date a week later it has not been taken care of. I contacted American Express and they will investigate it. More
This is our second visit to Star Toyota. In 2011 we bought a new Rav4. I am so pleased with this dealership that we travel approximately 50 miles to go there. The main problem we had with our experience had to do with the financing. Our salesman, named John, was wonderful (it doesn't look like he works here anymore, good for him). When it came time to sign t with the financing. Our salesman, named John, was wonderful (it doesn't look like he works here anymore, good for him). When it came time to sign the papers with Ray Berrios, an extended warranty for $2,500 was slipped in without being explained to us. Once we caught it and said we didn't want or need it, we were told we could cancel it. So we went through the process of cancelling, faxing the signed paperwork and all. But our bill still reflected the extra $2,500 being owed. We waited one month, two months, four months, nothing changed. We called numerous times to Ray Berrios. Different excuses, lost the paperwork, sent it in already, yadda yadda. We talked to different people from Star; TJ, Nick. Refaxed the cancellation. Nothing. Finally, 9 months after we purchased the car, a phone call to Toyota Financial Services and a phone rep named Yvette was the key to getting this mess straightend out. She was very tenatious and went to bat for us by calling Star Toyota with me on the other line, being transferred and holding for over 1 hour until we got on the phone with Stacy Cavaliere. She finally saw that a check needed to be sent to Toyota Financial Services, and she kept her word by sending it immediately. Thank you, Stacy! So, the bottom line is that the customer service leaves alot to be desired. We do love our car, but that is thanks to Toyota. We just cannot recommend you get your Toyota at Star Used Cars. More

I came in here to buy my first car as I recently graduated college and got a new job in an area where I would require my own transport. Things were pretty fishy from the very beginning. The car I graduated college and got a new job in an area where I would require my own transport. Things were pretty fishy from the very beginning. The car I was looking at did not have a listed price, apparently it was recently added to the lot but I was assured that it would be thoroughly inspected (on my dime) and was given the carfax on it. The initial price quoted for a 2006 Scion Xa was around $14,000 but the salesman, after being quoted many other 2006 Scion Xa's with similar mileage, agreed to bring the price down to 9500. He, a salesman named Sean, promised the car at $9500 if I agreed to purchase, and considering the clean history of the car I agreed to later be told that it would be sold at $9700 (promise already broken). I still wanted the car so I agreed and then we began dealing with the financial manager, Ray, who lied at every step. First he tacked on a $2500 warranty without asking, then when confronted about it he said it was a way of getting a bank to agree to finance the purchase. The gas tank was on empty when I received the car, which also should not happen. The car has been in service 4 times within the span of 2 weeks of purchasing it because the dealer had not actually performed any sort of maintenance on it. On top of that, after having a long argument with Ray over cancelling the undesired warranty he relented and assured me that the warranty had been cancelled. Today I found out he was lying and now have to cancel the warranty myself. Do not trust these people, they are liars and will do anything to make the sale but shirk all responsibility afterwards. I recently leased a 2012 Toyota Highlander SE from Star Toyota and it was by far the best car-buying experience I've had. Anthony Cruz was my salesperson and he was a complete pleasure to work with. He mad Toyota and it was by far the best car-buying experience I've had. Anthony Cruz was my salesperson and he was a complete pleasure to work with. He made a usually tough experience into an easy and rather enjoyable one. My wife and I really appreciated his undivided attention and his openness when explaining all the details of the car and the costs. We stopped by the dealership around 9:30am and he had us in our new car by 1pm. I cannot say enough about Anthony, Nick (the very detailed finance person) and Felix, who helped me set up everything in the car. If you're looking for a new car, I highly recommend Star Toyota and look for Anthony to take good care of you. More
