On April 22nd my daughter was contact via email by Sales Manager Kevin Baker offering a deal on trading in her 2017 Kia Sportage. I inquire by email about the deal and was contact by phone by a salesman na Manager Kevin Baker offering a deal on trading in her 2017 Kia Sportage. I inquire by email about the deal and was contact by phone by a salesman named Rosco Korngut. He stated the offer that was sent was legit. $3639 in equity would be used for down payment, $5000 off, $10,773 trade in value @ 1.9% interest bringing the price for a 2021 Kia Sportage to $25,565. Sounded like a good deal right? Asked Rosco if the 2021 will have same features as the 2017, (leather, heated seats……) Rosco stated he had the exact car on his lot right now, same feature, “nothing more, nothing less”. Rosco went on to state the offer ends April 30. Based on the fact they had the exact car my daughter wanted, and the printed offer was valid, I took off work the next day and my daughter and I drove to Dallas. Rosco stated he would have the car waiting up front when we arrived. Upon arrival it became apparent the vehicle he had “waiting” was not the White Kia Sportage we had discussed. It a different color with all sorts of added upgrades. They immediately stated they had White Sportage’s at other locations. As we waited, the price that was presented had changed drastically. After several hours of failure to locate a White Kia Sportage, which we drove from Austin to buy, we decided to leave. It was clearly a “bait and switch” scenario we got sucked into. The following day we visited a Kia dealership in Austin and presented the offer for their opinion. The Austin dealer ship shook their heads and stated the offer was ridicules and was just a ploy to get us there. Further stating this was not the first time they have heard of this dealership doing the same thing. I ended up purchasing a top of the line Nissan Rogue that same day. More
