We changed our minds at the last minute and buy a different vehicle; didn't catch them off guard, had it ready with a smile in no time. Spend valuable time to get us familiar with OnStar and other functions. What a pleasure! More
Internet Pricing may be deceptive. Warning for shoppers Maybe I just found this out the hard way, but I think it would be good for those who are shopping to know. I also spoke to the general manager about t Maybe I just found this out the hard way, but I think it would be good for those who are shopping to know. I also spoke to the general manager about the issue and he said this is the way that most new car dealers work. I don't know, I'll take his word for it. Just trying to educate people. Looking for a new truck, I found this dealer that was close to me. Online pricing showed MSRP and internet pricing. I also inquired about some trucks from the "Internet Sales Person". No issues. She was helpful and prompt to respond. Online, pricing showed the Canyon SLT with a specified model number for $44,570 with an Internet price of $36,965. Thinking this was a fair offer, I went to look at this model and one other with Denali trim with my wife. As we were leaving, I asked the sales person for the price. She looked them up and told me $36,965 and something near that for the other truck. Great. Honestly, I was thinking there might still be a bit of wiggle room, but I was willing to work with that price and a trade in. There was a "click here" button to see any price disclosures. It talked about taxes, title fees, etc. along with dealer able to change the price at any time. Pretty standard stuff. Nothing about discount offers. (I have screen shots of this). Informaiton about the discounts that make up the Internet price were listed under Vehicle Details. Maybe I should have looked, but I thought that was what the disclosure link was for. There are plenty of details about the truck listed all over the web page. Went back in the afternoon, test drove the two trucks again and went in to talk with the salesperson regarding the price. Surprise!!!! The SLT Internet price included some incentives (figured that) but one incentive was the "GMC Private Offer-$3000). Guess what, my name was not on the list. Not even sure how to get it there. I left without further conversation. Got a call from the general manager to understand what the issue was. After a 20 minute conversation, I don't think we made any progress. He offered for me to have the truck at $42,000 out the door. That's a long way from $36,965. I marked Ashleigh as a person I worked with at the dealership. She is a nice lady. This had nothing to do with her. My sales person is not listed, so I did not add her. She was nice and informed as well. The sales manager never introduced himself, and I did not get the general managers name when he called. Anyway, there was nothing illegal about the practice. According to Southtowne, all dealerships do it. It is just a deceptive practice that people should know about before driving to a dealership thinking that the price clearly displayed on the web page would be remotely close to what they may receive. Disclaimer for truth: The other truck that I was looking at was offered to me at the "Internet price". The disclosure has the same wording as the SLT. No mention of discounts that are applied. Just beware. I guess this can happen at any dealership, but GMC really had an opportunity to sell a truck and get a new customer that will purchase more vehicles in the future. Poorly handled at the dealership. The sales manager did not even come to tell me that the price could not be offered and left it to the sale lady to break the news. Pretty Sad!! If there is something incorrectly state that the dealership would like to add, I'll be happy to make corrections. I think this is a fair and honest account of my experience. More
