Southland Dodge was opened in July 1968 by Joe Teuton Jr., Jeff Teuton, and Dennis Oncale. Joe and Dennis were experienced auto technicians at Downtown Auto Service on Lafayette St, and Jeff was a college graduate in Business Administration from Southeastern Louisiana University. They were also avid drag racers, and they were all under 30 years of age. The first location at 505 Sunset Ave featured a one-car showroom and a 10 car parking lot. Their racing background helped them to sell lots of Dodge Superbees, Chargers, and Challengers in the early years.

Never have I felt so disrespected by a dealership in my life. Ashley Ledet was the salesperson that helped us when we pulled up. The problem is all she kept talking about is how she was uncomfortable beca life. Ashley Ledet was the salesperson that helped us when we pulled up. The problem is all she kept talking about is how she was uncomfortable because of her new BBL surgery. Had my husband starring at her butt all day. And once she could tell I was frustrated about her talking to my husband about how the procedure works. And what a BBL is she completely ignored me and only acknowledging my husband the rest of the time there. Needless to say we didn’t buy a vehicle from this dealership and probably never will. More
